I lost my job in USA and this milking job was available so I took it, I went all pretty with my white shirt the first day and realized it wasn't what I thought it was. I didn't quit tho and after a month I was the fastest milker, it's a dirty job but it's a blessing to work with nature and animals.

Great video Adrian, I worked on a Derbyshire dairy farm for 35 years and it was just wonderful, it broke my heart when I had to finish. Your video bought it all back to those wonderful times, and make me wish for times gone by. Thanks so much.

Adrian, I was compelled to pause the video 11 minutes in to come and leave this comment: You have really taken this to the next level, with your shot set-ups, editing etc. - I really hope that people watching this appreciate just how much time and thought you have invested in this one video. It's as near professional quality as it gets, and wouldn't be out of place as a segment on Ear to the Ground or Countryfile. The only downside is that it would be near impossible for a hard working farmer like yourself to devote that much time to every video consistently, but we, your subscribers, understand that. The pressure is now on Gerry6420 and Farmer Phil to really up their game!!! Your phone will be ringing soon.....!!

This is what I love, seeing people like you with a real passion for what you do, I'm 14 and have been in a milking pit from the day I was born I've always been around farms and cows and I love every second of it, the other day I said to the worker, ”everyday is a Sunday to me, unless the calves get out then it's a Monday but otherwise when I'm on the farm it's a Sunday” his response to me was ”everydays a Monday to me on a farm” and I said well you aren't in the right job then because if you love your job it's not a real job it's a passion

You'll see edited beside this comment now, after this. 👍👍
Now. I'm with Paige, he's/she's 100% right & very well said too. 👏👏👍👍
It doesn't matter what you work is either.
I'm very interested in farming & I'm trying to get my own place. Very hard thing to do in this Country. Alot of thing's can go against you. From getting the place in the first place, money etc. I've found, you have to be working off farm & get the Grant's for the farm or the bank's wouldn't entertain you. So cause of thing's like them I'm on the brink of walking away from farming. Maybe I'll do some agri contracting & keep my interest in farming that way. Eitherway the future is looking bright with young people like Paige coming up after us.

I wouldn't normally go through the rigmarole about signing in which the powers that be have seen fit to impose on us commenters but this video is so worthy of praise that I have done so just to say thank you to this fantastically well-constructed and informative work and being aware of the extra time this wonderful farmer has added to his days work. I always love to see different kinds of farmers now I am from The Netherlands and I help my dad on the farm a lot and I wanna take over the farm when it really has to happen and stuff and with you I love how you have manual milking system and we just have a milking robot for it and we just have a couple of sheds with almost 0 steel fences and you have a lot of them it just makes a big difference because you can see where someone is from most of the time when it comes to equipment now with some farmers it is for me cool to see that they have a lot of different tractors like massey ferguson and new holland deutz fahr etc. we only have a Kubota for feeding and 3 Fendts a 828 vario 60kph and 718 vario and another old one i don't know the version of tho but for a quick message I just love to see big differences in other people's farms and our farm because most dutch farms for in my area look a lot like eachother love your video's keep up the good work!

    Some job Adrain, well done.👏👏👍👍
Them Heifers weren't in any hurry to come out of that field, if they were short on grass. Going on my experience,if cattle are short on grass & your moving them, they'll be out the gate as soon as it's open enough for them to get out it. I'm coming from helping an uncle on his farm for year's,he's a suckler & was sheep farmer. I'm hardly farming at all now, as working off farm now. Also (your wife, mightn't like me saying this) open the gate in the way, when cattle are going into the field/land. If can do that already, if not sort it out do it. By doing it that way your wife or anybody else wouldn't need to get out of there SUV, jeep, car as the cattle will see the gate is open on the side of the road & vehicle in front of them on the road. Especially if they know that's their field/land to go into. Also Adrian that Petrol yard scraper you have, where did you buy it? Was it in the local co-op or a special shop for them thing's? As I don't think I've ever seen 1 or at least not many of them before, seening it in your video's.
Like I said in another comment I'm on the brink of walking away from farming cause of them thing's I said in the comment. It's channel's like your, farmer Phill, Gerry6420, etc that help to keep me interested in farming, for another year at least. 👏👏👍👍
Also I don't see farming as a job. I see farming as a vocation, like the religious orders were. 🥴🥴
It's either in you the person or it's not.
Anyway great video again.Keep it up. 👏👏👍👍

Great video Adrian, well edited in fairness. Tip for ya with the dust off the meal bin, half fill a 200L blue barrel with water and put it under the vent pipe, or even extend the vent pipe with an old slurry tanker hose down to just above the top of the barrel. The water will stop the dust from blowin out and just clean it out every 5 or 6 fills of meal....or change to grennans nuts,, no dust at all then 😉😉😉😂😂😂

Great video Adrian Nice to see the day to day running of the farm. Its mat to see you still use the back spike when moving the silage but I suppose you've done it that long you'll be used to it. You ever thought about fitting the knife to the front of the loader and just getting a rear back spike? Its a tidy little farm you have, and nice to see things in its place very tidy well kept farm.

When you gets cracks like that. You should drill a hole at the lower edge of the crack to stop its spread. Then use the appropriate bonder to tie both ends of the cracked plastic and fill the drilled hole. The drilled hole is the important bit to stop the crack from spreading.

Well done Adrian great video.glad everything worked out good with the loader on the tractor. It will change your way of working and you can think differently when you have a tractor loader. You should get a basket and even a ting grab for the front of the loader now. I got both last year and there's hardly a week does by that I don't use them. Won't do without them now.i have the same loader as that on a MF 390t 4 wheel drive.

They are numerous odd jobs they are handy for. The nice thing with a basket is when taking out something you can let the loader at nice tight up and there's no bending down to take something out. ideal for fencing you can take Everything in 1 go.
