How fancy. Been a few years since I used a Rotunda reclaim machine. You're right about the older systems. I start the only thing there was is R12. I could tune a system by adding a little extra or taking a couple ounces out. Compile that with adjusting they cycle switch and BAM 34 Degrees all day long. Customer would love it. When 134 showed up on scene many customers weren't happy since the best we could do was 45 and often times never enough air flow sitting still. Love your videos, Mix wrenching too at times.
Thats a great purchase! You're right about the newer vehicles. My '03 Ranger has a giant A/C system and charge. I had to put a new condenser in it a year or two back and also put in a new dryer/accumulator and all new o-rings/seals for good measure. Fortunately I have a mechanic friend who took it to the shop vacuumed the system down and refilled with a similar type machine for me after I did the parts replacement work....saved quite a bit of money! Our '11 Escape has a very tiny system and capacity, IIRC its only about 0.9 lbs.
nice. question if you have a system where someone used a stop leak in there system and use this machine to recover will it damage this unit or will the filter trap the stop leak?
that's an awesome machine, a cheaper alternative would have been to purchase vacuum pump, recovery machine, tank, gauges and scale, it would of run you about 1k or so. The bad part about purchasing everything separately is not having it as a single unit.
How often does the service tank need to be replaced due to rust flaking inside the tank and clogging up the filter and moisture indicator? Not sure if this happens, however, I think it would be a good thing to know.
I know this is an older video but I want to ask anyway. How come you did not opt for the 34788NIH that is capable to handle Hybrids? Do you not see very many of them?
There is nothing special about the a/c systems on Ford hybrid vehicles except our newest hybrids that use electric a/c compressors those require special oil which is injected separately anyway.
Hey mine is asking to change the filter I did and it still said is 151 pounds recover and need filter change ones I put change filter it said cleaning filter but it never ends
I picked up the same machine earlier this year. It paid for itself on my own vehicles already. I just capped a slow leak I had last night off the internal storage tank. I picked mine up for just a little less than that! $5,000 is a extreme price for that model. The premium model is about 5k. Did you get low side oiler for it?
+Ghetto Wagon The unit only cost around $2,800 New but I happened to get a warehouse deal from Amazon it has a slight dent in the frame of a new unit I popped it back out and saved $600 over an undamaged unit so I am very lucky and happy with the purchase. I bought a dye gun that can take dye cartridges or oil cartridges and I just use a low side oiler hose no big deal. I also bought the vinyl cover for it which has been a life saver with the continuing construction of the shop.
Yea. That's where I purchased mine, The Cover rocks, I have that too, its the same cover material that is used for home AC units for the winter months. FJC makes a cool dye/oil injector but they raised the price of if to an insane amount I picked it up for under $40. I have the robinair one too, it works nice. Did you notice how the new middle model 34788 robinair AC machine turned into some govt controlled piece that logs vin numbers and locks you out. Crazy ! I was going to buy the older version of the middle model that had none of that, but they stopped making it and all they had was the new version . They say it breaks down often so I opted for the economy model. FordTechMakuloco
+Ghetto Wagon Yes this one was exactly what I needed, we had the middle model at the dealer never used any of the auto functions that you pay for so I knew to get the next one down. I have not seen the new ones that require a vin that's really odd.
It can log vins, It also has all these lock outs, too complicated. The middle model does a leak test, but you can pretty much do a manual one with this model just by watching the gauges after pulling a vacuum. :) FordTechMakuloco
When you recover all the freon form a system, fix the leak and vacuum it down how much oil do you put in? In other words your never going to pump all of the oil out right? So how do you know exactly how much oil to put in? Thanks for sharing! That looks like a very nice machine.
+Transguy as with most recovery machines this one has a recovery bottle that has level markings. So you can see what you took out. Otherwise I have found most systems require 1.5 to 2oz of oil to be added back in after a system recovery.
Wow! So it separates the oil out? That's very handy. What would happen say if you put too much oil back in a system? Does that mean that you'll never be able to get enough freon in the system to adequately cool the vehicle no matter how much pressure the gauge reads on the low side? I've seen this a few times where a system cools best at 25 PSI Low side. And when I say best I'm talking 50 degrees out of the vents. Any more PSI on the low side than that and temps go up in the vents.
I use a diet scale and cans but the hoses have to be accounted for too! You could never be 100% accurate that way. Like you said on newer cars you can't really get away with it. Does that machine handle the latest freon? Forget exactly what the number is.
I have a 34788 it was working just fine and stared grow in a message (high pressure ) I did replace the filter and it went away but since it won't do vacuum always say pressures to high wen I try to do vacuum any subjection ???
I need help with my the mother board is out and where can I order parts for it I see to burn spots on the boad and where can I send it to get fix or buy a new one please
i got one, had it for about 3 years but it's out of calibration and requires me to bring iit to a service place, i literally have no time to do that. does someone know how to calibrate this thing?! it copmletely under charges everything
1234yf is only coming out on the newest of Ford vehicles in the past year or two. This machine services all vehicles before that to the early 90's. That's allot of cars how is this obsolete?
WHAT CAN BE WRONG IF THE MACHINE SAYS (HIGH PRESSURE) WHILE DOING THE RECOVER PROCESS. THEN WHILE DOING THE VACCUM IT SAID (AIR PURGE) THE MACHINE IS NOT EVEN A MONTH OLD.
knowing what you know now, how has this machine held up? would you purchase this one again? or mastercool 1000? asking because I'm in the market for another one since our MY2001 RRR machine is dying.
Mine still works too! 2015 unit. I need to take the covers off and make a video of how sloppy mine was built. If you have a leak sniffer i'm curious if yours emits a small leak from the panel valves. Mine seems to!!! You see how they use the frame of the other units they have available years ago and incorporated it into the new economy model? Its more of a front use cart instead of the side like they have been for years
Do you think a mechanics recovery machine could be malfunctioning? I had compressor condenser ac dryer FOT heater core and evaporator replaced still getting 60 out vents on hot day even fan clutch replaced 2007 5.4 f150

Nice… the same manufacturer of the machine we use to service the Apache AH-64D/ -E model helicopter ECS (Environmental Control System).

i like your work ethic, i feel the same. It drives me crazy when people don't take care of the very equipment they make their living with.
Thank you., my machine keep saying source empty. After I know I put 2 lbs in from the blue tank like u just did. I will recheck it today.
just ordered a 34988. cant wait to try it
Thomas Midgeley Junior was "the" inventor of CFC:s. He was an interesting guy worth reading up on.
Awesome Machine!!! Works with almost all makes and models.
Might need to bring one of those on your tour lol you would have me coming out of the woodwork
nice. question if you have a system where someone used a stop leak in there system and use this machine to recover will it damage this unit or will the filter trap the stop leak?
That's a nice machine it's the same as the Matco Tool it's Kool because you can do it pounds , oz, and kilos .
that's an awesome machine, a cheaper alternative would have been to purchase vacuum pump, recovery machine, tank, gauges and scale, it would of run you about 1k or so. The bad part about purchasing everything separately is not having it as a single unit.
That's badace right there.
Yeah I definitely needed a single rolling unit
would you also recommend the new robin airs say the 34788ni or the 34988ni

That leak test has never detected a leak on the cars I have tried it on. I know the new Chrysler machine we got before I left the dealer logged vins.

looks just like the one we have at the Yota dealer
sweet machine. I didnt see a recovery tank inside it do you have to hook a external tank to it? Where do you dispose of old contaminated freon?
JOHN HUFNAGEL The big white tank on the front holds all the new and filtered refrigerant.
So when you “recover” does the recovered refrigerant go into the internal storage tank and mix with the new stuff to be reused?
Yes after an extensive filtering and purging procedure.
How do you swap to your internal tank. Mine has 4 lbs and I don't know how to get it
Nice video, Thank you.
We needa new one..
Thank you very useful video!
From where do you buy the fitting?
I have a 34788 it was working just fine and stared grow in a message (high pressure ) I did replace the filter and it went away but since it won't do vacuum always say pressures to high wen I try to do vacuum any subjection ???
great video

one of my dream to own one of these
enjoyed the vid. that's a nice tool to have when you need it
what kind of fitting you put on the tank???????????????????????????
i got one, had it for about 3 years but it's out of calibration and requires me to bring iit to a service place, i literally have no time to do that. does someone know how to calibrate this thing?! it copmletely under charges everything

Sounds like it all isolated to the air purge solenoid. Have it serviced they are pretty quick about it and its covered under warranty.
Please do more air conditioning videos!
Worth every penny huh
how do i add oil to the car
You need a separate oil/dye injector.
knowing what you know now, how has this machine held up? would you purchase this one again? or mastercool 1000? asking because I'm in the market for another one since our MY2001 RRR machine is dying.
I still use it to this day almost daily never an issue, I like that I have manual control over the valves.

Possibly, but with the quality of Robin air and the grade of mechanics, I'd guess more likely ur technician is malfunctioning.
