Hurrem owns my ass. I love her so much ahh...

She was the one who started the Sultanate of Women. The sultanas came after her (Nurbanu, Safiye, Kösem, Turhan) couldn’t have gain the power, if she didn’t made way for the consorts. She broke the rules. She was meant to be a Sultana. The Sultana of The Ottoman Empire and Sultan Süleyman ❤️

Actually, Hurrem broke a lot of customs by marrying the king and becoming a sultana. She also maintained the king's favor and produced multiple sons, which was also against custom. Kosem broke custom too, and her power could arguably have overshadowed Hurrem's. However, it came from her position as mother of the sultan, not the sultan's wife as Hurrem's was. They aren't in the same category, but Kosem definitely wouldn't have been who she was if not for Hurrem. Don't discredit the achievements of others

thank you girls for your good comments about our Sultana. , well I' m a turkish and im proud of her, she was such a brave woman of our history. Some people say that she was selfish but this is not true. She did so much charity work for people during her time both for muslims and nonmuslim citizens. I think she had a kind personality in her heart. Maybe nobody knows that but actually she engaged in several major works of public buildings, from Mecca to Jerusalem. Among her first foundations were a mosque, two Koranic schools (madrassa), a fountain, and a women's hospital in Istanbul (Haseki Sultan Complex). It was the first complex constructed in Istanbul by Mimar Sinan in his new position as the chief imperial architect. She also built mosque complexes in Edirne and Ankara.
She commissioned a bath,"" the Haseki Hürrem Sultan Hamamı "", to serve the community of worshippers in the nearby Hagia Sophia in Istanbul . In Jerusalem , she established in 1552 the Haseki Sultan Imaret, a public soup kitchen to feed the poor and the needy. She also built Imaret Haseki Hurrem, public soup kitchen in Holy city Mecca too.
May Allah forgive her sins and bless our sultana forever, ameen.

@@arekwar9618 Hurrem is the Legend even after 600 years, considered as the most powerful Sultana in the Ottoman Empire . She broke the glass ceiling for royal women and started Era of Sultanate of Women. Her story is an inspiring look at how one woman can bring so much influence and change to a leader and an empire, even if husband stands behind you!
Hurrem’s power in the Sultan’s court grew stronger with every passing year. As Navagero wrote in 1553, “there has not been in the Ottoman house a lady that has had more authority.” Her authority showed not only in her firm grip over Suleiman’s heart but also in her ability to compete with the male rivals in Suleiman’s court, and to be a skillful sovereign and ruler. Suleiman the Magnificent repeatedly came to her for counsel and even appointed her as his STATE ADVISOR in foreign affairs, which allowed her to act as a diplomat with foreign powers.
Also, it’s recorded by history that she was official Divan member, attending meetings, voting, listening to males and taking part of the meetings “under the dome”, which is called the Kubbealtı. Only men were doing this before her.
Hurrem also had a seal, that allowed her to correspond to MALE rulers and kings around the world. Before that females of the empire were only allowed to correspond with female rulers (like empress or queen : Russia and England) or princesses. Hurrem acted as a diplomat with foreign powers through her letters using the title of Shah (queen), from the day she became first and only wife of Padisah in Ottoman history. It is seen that his signature is always referred to as " The State of İsmetlu Hürrem Shah Sultan Aliyyetü'ş-Şân".
Hurrem also ruled the empire when Sultan was away on wars, signing important documents on his behalf and receiving diplomats and foreign ambassadors. Hurrem was a keen advisor to Suleiman in political matters, particularly when he was absent from Istanbul on his numerous military campaigns. She regularly sent letters to the Sultan, in which, in addition to expressing her great love and longing for him, she also informed him of the situation in the capital and of any events that required his immediate attention or action. In being thus vigilant, Hurrem protected Suleiman’s interests and contributed to the success of his reign. There is no doubt that Suleiman trusted her more than he did his male advisors.
Hurrem is known to have been very generous to the poor.
Not only did Hurrem Sultan exercise unprecedented influence on state politics as Suleiman’s chief advisor and diplomat with foreign powers, but she was also fully devoted to philanthropy. Hurrem’s charitable work surpassed any of Ottoman women in volume and geographic reach. She gave inordinate sums of money to help the poor and needy, she built and sponsored endowments (waqfs) in cities like Istanbul, Constantinople, Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem, Damascus, Baghdad, Konya, Edirne, Bulgaria.
      Her major charitable projects include:
✔️Haseki Sultan Complex in Istanbul-(Haseki Hürrem Sultan Külliyesi) that consists of a Friday mosque, a soup-kitchen (imaret), a madrasa, an elementary school (mektep) and a hospital(Haseki Dar al-Shifa). The latter is still used as a polyclinic by Haseki State Hospital.
      ✔️ Two Quranic schools
✔️ Women hospital near the women's slave market (Avret Pazary).
✔️Hurrem Sultan Fountain in Istanbul, Sultanahmet area, a landmark in Istanbul and favorite spot for tourists for taking vacation photos with beautiful background.
✔️ Hagia Sophia Hurrem Sultan Bathhouse (Ayasofya Hürrem Sultan Hamamı)- receives guests and tourists daily and is now operated by Haseki Tourism Group.
✔️ Khaseki Sultan Complex in Jerusalem, that included a mosque, large khan (inn)-caravanserai for travelers and merchants, a 55-room-shelter for pilgrims, a bakery for the conduct of charity services for the poor, flour mills, water mills, soap factories, an area with cellars, public toilets, stables and a soup kitchen “Haseki Sultan Imaret” serving more than 500 Jerusalem's paupers, al-Aqsa's needy worshipers and seminarists. Most of the buildings, apart from the lodge and the mosque, are still standing today. The charitable soup kitchen called “Takiyah Khaski Sultan Al-Imara” works to present day, with two meals still being served to the poor and homeless according to Hürrem's original recipe!
✔️ A caravanserai, mosque and soup kitchen built in the city of Svilengrad , Bulgaria, the name of which was Cisr-i M Ustafa Pasha at that time.
✔️Charitable soup kitchens “Haseki Imarets” in Edirne, Mecca, Medina, Konya, Baghdad.
✔️At one point Hurrem even sold her own gold, pearls and jewels to pay for Janissaries’ (Ottoman soldier’s) boots and a hike in their pay.
Apart from these Hurrem is also known to frequently send her embroideries and handmade perfumes to slaves, poor women and Harrem concubines.
Hurrem was the first in many things. Even where she was buried was a first. Suleiman buried her in his mosque complex. Not her own as it used to be according the Ottoman’s law. In HIS.
Even after 600 years, Hurrem is loved and resppected in the world by milllions for her thousands charities, strength, smartness, boldness!

I do wonder if reincarnation is real if Hurrem was a reincarnation of Empress Theodora both lived in Constantinople and both had very similar lifes and personalities. Both married the Emperor /Sultan and fought and won against the odds to become Empress /Sultana and really advice the rights of women. The main difference was Theodora was born 1200 years before Hurrem.
My two favourite Hisirical Heroines ❤️
    Empress Theodora and Hurrem Sultan

Charlie Towler hürrem was muslim. he even said that in some notebooks he loved his religion (Islam) very much and he prayed to God. The name of the daughter put mihrimah from her. one of the greatest sultans of the ottoman.

Hurrem doesn't compare to Empress Theodora. She didn't change her faith to gain the emperor's heart, she already did that before. She didn't lost her integrity, rather she gained it. She didn't have to fight anyone to gain the love of the emperor and was way more noble, convincing her husband to fight back in the Nika riots, had respect from the servants and generals and vice versa, she even had her own court. She wasn't just a wife, she was a co-regent. She didn't have to manipulate the power, she had the right to have power. She was advicing her husband, rather then using him. She was giving women rights, saving them from prostitution, rape and even caring for them afterwards. That's why she is a saint alongside him, because they "never slept" for their own people. Not only she was powerful, but she knew her methods.

    Wow...zajebiste!

What really good in this show is from a real story, I've searched it out its real.
That's makes me so interested because I am learning from the real life of a history
Not just a fantasy or fiction at least it gives and leaves you a good courage after watching such a beautiful historical show 400 to 500 years already.
