I own a Burnside 35 as well as my SOL 45. I enjoy using them both. I like being able to put the focus point in the center, in a corner on an edge. Sort of coincidentally, Shortly after I began using the lensbabies, I learned how to apply layer masks to a selected part of an image. It has become one of my favorite things to create multiple exposures using a lensbaby or a conventional lens, and combining parts of another image using layers in photoshop.
I own the Lensbaby Velvet 56 and love it! I use it mostly for macro nature images but have used it for portraits as well. Thank you for your review of the Sol 45. I saw someone's post on Instagram using this lens and immediately thought, "Oooh! I like that!" So I've started researching this lens and can see the artistic advantages it would give me for landscape, portrait, nature, street photography, or just about anything my imagination can dream up. I'm all about dreamy images so I think this may be my next purchase. Thanks again!
Hey SnapChick just subscribed and wanted to say thank you for all you do. I can see your passion when explaining everything to us and that’s great. Keep up the great work and happy snappin’
Great timing for this review! My sol is arriving next Tuesday. Can't wait to put it on my camera and see what it can do. I just watched a fantastic video shot using this lens in Paris here on YT. The best part, thanks to B&H, I saved $30; it was a no-brainer to buy it! Yet another present to myself!
Hi Folks. I'm thinking of of having a Baby. I don't want to clutter my bag with the things so... What do Ya'll think of the options? Sol 45 or Composer and 35? Anyone finding optical preference? Over.
If you had to pick your one favorite lensbaby lens which would it be? I primarily shoot portraits, weddings, high school seniors, etc. Looking to get started in this creative way. TIA
Thanks for the video this was a good one. I’m definitely a lensbaby fan . I really like their composer series especially with the sweet 35 or edge 80. I have the twist 60 and that is the most fun of all. Try to get one for review it’s super fun for portraits with fall leaf backgrounds. I’m not sure this one is for me though I like being able to change the aperture to control the sweet spot.
I have the lensbaby composer 2 with the sweet 35 optic in the sweet 50 optic this new lens the Sol 45 is something I must acquire great video by the way
I just picked up the Edge 50 Composer. I want it to be my 'go to' for shooting b-roll on my projects. I also think it will be an amazing time-lapse lens. The edge puts a sharp cut at the place where you wan the in-focus area to stop. I shot some candids after a dance recital the other day. Takes some getting used to, but I picked it up faster than I thought.
Hi...just found your channel...terrific content. So, did you choose not to get the D850 for now, as I see this video highlights the D810. Just curious. Keep up the great work.
Must of just been a fluke? Works fine now:) Thanks for the replies:) I just took a couple of sample images, all I can say is WOW! Great sharpness, fantastic bokeh and for $199.00. This as sharp as any of my other Zooms and Primes:)
Very interesting lens definitely I will buy one in the future, right know i need to play more with my photo editor software (affinity photo) thanks for the review!!

I have been collecting lens babies over the years and I have the sol to be my fav lens for now

I just bought this lens to help break my humdrum routine. Thank you!
It's perfect for shaking things up. Have fun with it!
Thanks, I will :)
Me too. My photos are becoming too boring with the same lenses. Time to sell my 40 mm pancake and buy this cool lens
Interesting. This could be a lens for me . Good for travel?
Great video. I just ordered my first Lensbaby (Sol 45). It's your fault, and I thank you for that. Keep snappin'.
Just ordered for Z mount, and they are including macro filter kit for free. Can't wait to play!
Lens baby lenses totally line up with my style of photography. I have to get a collection together.
They have come so far since that original lens. I'm excited to try more of them too!

I would love to see some portraits with it!!!
You piqued my interest in Lensbaby again. I think the compact size makes this appealing to me. Thanks!

You're a Lensbaby connoisseur!

Cool! Have fun! I'm looking forward to using this for video too. :)
At the end you say it's one of the cool new photography items that has caused you to be more creative. What are the names of the other items?

I did not purchase the D850. I LOVED it but couldn't justify the purchase at the time, as I had the D810 and the D500 already.
Hi There Snap. I bought just the Sol 45 for Nikon :) Quick question, when a take a single shot, it takes 2 not 1?
Cool. I hope you love it! As for your camera, my guess is that you are in Continuous Servo rather than Single Servo. Could that be it?
Originally yes I did, but changed it to single.
And you're still getting two photos for every shot you take?

Do you get to keep the lens if you like it?
Yes, which is good because I REALLY don't want to give it back!
So the companies give you gear so you talk about it. But in the case of the sol, you wanted to keep it and not return it - is that the case?
So very cool
Thank you //// cool video
B&H has them for sale for $199 today.
Just ordered mine.
My, too! I just received it and playing with this "baby" right now :)
Video.. yes..
