    Another comment, given Kali linux is meant to be a security tester platform. I would recommend changing the default password from kali to a more secure password. The reason being that you will most probably want to use the Wifi or hard wire to check out the network and therefore it is possible somebody to hack you while you are trying to hack them. :-)

      When you're connected to the Internet if you run `sudo timedatectl set-ntp on` that should set the date and time based on your location.

    • @jimbagsh9569
      @jimbagsh9569 2 года назад

      The reason I'm thinking of this is that I am a volunteer working in rural Nepal. I use my iPad Air a lot. So, I was thinking of using a 'Mac Mini' at my room where I have power (most of the time) and use the iPad Air as a monitor. Then when away from the room, I would use the iPad Air alone. Bringing a 'Mac Mini' would be easier to carry in my luggage - packing a monitor wouldn't be that easy - that's why I thought of the 'Pi' but since you it doesn't seem like you can buy a 'Pi' any time soon, I was looking for alternatives like the 'Mac Mini'/

      It's a little dependent on what else you're running on the iPad and what brightness you have, but you can expect 2-3 hours quite reliably.
      You have a few options for powering both the iPad and the Pi at the same time: the Apple Magic Keyboard and a USB-C hub are the main two. I have a video coming up on this topic next week.

      I use my raspberry pi 4b to program web things on my m1 iPad pro 12.9. My raspberry pi is 4G ram and with desktop version os. After turning off WLAN and Bluetooth on pi, I can feel some impact on battery life but it´s not significant. I can still use my iPad nonstop for half-day( not always connecting raspberry pi). OS without desktop interface may save more battery life probably.
      I think it highly depends on what is running on pi, and which pi you are using. Searching the current of every model raspberry pi in different CPU usage on google can help you calculate the power. I think most of the time it can't be worse than charging a phone on ipad (15w).
      Use 3B or 3B+ if you don't need powerful CPU. Turning off some useless io (like HDMI) can also help a bit.

      I also have a very tough behavior of the OS. videos on youtube cannot be viewed without stuttering. However, I use an ipad pro 11" 2018 and raspberry pi4 4GB. I will also try it on my ipad pro M1 and a raspberry 400. I also swapped the usb c cable and didn't feel any improvement. The SD card is a sandisk 32GB extreme .
      Do you have another idea? it's not fun to work with. Many Thanks

      I have checked the 12,9" M1 iPad with Pi400 with same result. The Pi400 connected to the display is working fine. after setting up and connecting to the iPad the system does not work smoothly. It would be good to know what else to test. thank you in advance

    can you do a video using Samsung S8 tablet?
    it seems like android offers a far superior OS which let's you use application such as termux to run various Linux related tools written in bash or python without the need for a rasp... also you can use Google rdp client to connect to a laptop to do some heavy lifting around windows or even ssh to a cloud machine costing around 6-15 dollars a month.

      @@tech_craft I would be interested to know if the setup on this video is possible using a raspberry with a Samsung Tablet (S8 e.g.). Another question... is it possible to share the wi-fi/4G connection of the tablet with the raspberry? Thanks in advance.

      OK. There is an error on your website guide to activate vncserver. You wrote sudo systemd start vncserver && sudo systemd enable vncserver instead of systemctl.

    Why not just live boot into a surface pro? Or install it onto a SSD, the SSD’s are very easy to swap in and out, wouldn’t a Surface Pro give better software and peripheral compatibility using Windows plus direct linux installation? Plus later when Apple no longer updates the iPad making it virtually useless you can still use a light linux distro on your old surface and use it as a netbook? 🤔

    • @tech_craft
      @tech_craft  Год назад +1

      I did try that for a while, but this was just about the time that WSL2 was still in beta and Linux support for the SP wasn't there yet. I keep meaning to revisit this now that the linux-surface project seems to really be moving.
