Appreciate you showing us the multitude of ways to do the same job. Many of us don’t have specialized tools, and I can see very well that you understand this! Nice job on the video thanks👍
Mike, excellent, detailed video that is easy to follow. Installed the gears yesterday based on the video procedure. Thank you for all your great products.
@@billhenry5783 it depends on what model you have if it’s a 23 motocross bike or Xcode bike they will have it but if it’s a 23 enduro bike it will have the old plastic gears
My main question is: What research has been done after the fact of install? Any access vibration to other components being that the gears are metal ? Etc. Take it easy on me , I’m not trying to ask a silly question. I’m just wondering if there is long term review for this “upgrade” of gears Cheers 🥂

That’s a great question and in the design phase we applied an increasing gyroscopic force to the outer edge using the formula 3x + yi = 5x + 1 + 2i to determine the acceleration rate of the rotating unit then accounted for the riders weight and age using ∣x+ 1−x 2∣= 2 (2x2 −1) to solve for x, then finally divided that by the number of bolts in his pockets to come to a final determinate of no.
purchased a 22 fx350 husqvarna and the oil pump failed and blew engine at 32 hrs. aftermarket warranty paid 7k in parts and labor to rebuild engine. after waiting 10 months for parts to be delivered due to back orders, got the bike back last month and in 7 hours it stopped oiling again and blew the new engine. The new engine had the aluminum oil pump gear installed. Definitely a bad first ktm/husky experience.
At the end of the video, you said to refill coolant, check the oil, start the bike… I assume you drained engine oil before you drained the coolant, and it just wasn’t included in the video. It is required to drain the oil first, correct? ( I’m not kidding, I don’t know for sure)
The ones that failed were in 2018 when there was a manufacturing deficiency with the batch of OEM gears. It was rectified in 2018. There are many benefits from plastic gears, that's why everyone uses them.

Outstanding video. Really well done, I feel like this is something I could do after watching this! Thank you guys for all your hard work!
Very well done video. Will purchase the gears once you have them ready for my 501. Thanks to all at Tacomoto.
With this was out when I changed mine last year.
Thanks for the great turn by turn directions
I do not even plan to change my gears but his is sooo good that I had to watch it to the end. Excellent presentation
Gr8 stuff! You can't do better than tacomoto! Ya cant!
exceptional well made video, HUGE thank you
Perfect timing
Got the email and mine are on the way 🤙🏼 can’t wait for them and my get/ end cap. Keep up the awesome work
What did they cost? No price due to them being out of stock.. Appreciate your help.
Very nicely done sir, what is the 1/4 torque wrench you're using on the small bolts? I gotta get me one of those.
It’s a t handle torque wrench available from most anyplace that has hand tools

2023 models onwards have already stock metal pump gear.
THANK YOU....great to know. just bought a '23 w/ 160 hrs on it and was hoping I wouldn't have to do this job.

What about Husqurvana 501 also plastic oil pump gears?

Taco Mike, what brand is that blue thread lock paste? I can only find blue thread lock in liquid form and it always makes a mess.
We’re fans of the gel type thread lock products and have most of the peremetex products in our tool box

Mike at what point do you recommend replacing these gears? I have 120 hours on my 350 xcf
At that time mark you def need clutch dampers so doing both things at this point would be advisable
Is this method similar to a 2018 FX 450?
Totally different gears and procedure
2019 350 xcf, no dampeners(inner clutch) in the clutch? I have a cx clutch.
Have you tested to see if the taco moto logo engraving makes the gear be unbalanced? I'm concerned about excess vibration.
The logo reduces vibration by 2.69%

No bushing on the drive gear?
Great video!! Looking at the 2024 Fe350W. I take it the 24’ come with metal gears?
Your bike should have metal gears from factory it’s the 23 models that dont
Any for the 23 XC/SX's yet?
Those years come w metal gears now so don’t need the upgrade
@@TACOMOTOCO Ahhhhh, roger that. Awesome news. I was told they were still plastic. Thanks for the info!

Can I still order these ? sxf450 22.. need it
What brand it that t handle torque driver?
Not sure but it’s a 1/4” t handle torque wrench available at most good tool shops
Should have said what brand ”is”

With the bike tipped on the side like this no need to drain the oil
But always a good idea to check fluids before starting
Does the 2020 and 2022 ktm 350xcf have these plastic gears?
Yes it does
Ridiculous the end user has to pay for this KTM should've recalled all these bikes for this obvious poor design
Should other bike mfg’s too?
Beta, Honda, Yamaha, Kawi and others also use plastic pump gears
Yeah absolutely if they failed in their obligation to provide a non faulty product
