Best guy I studied with was Terry Gibson in Tulsa. Jeet Kune Do school and he mixed in a lot of Wing Chun, Kali, Escrima and a few others. Sadly, he died in the late 1990's, great instructor, student of Dan Inosanto. I love WC for close-in fighting, but you have to be prepared to grapple on the ground, face-off against multiple attackers either in-close or from a distance, defend with or against various weapons and firearms, so build your total package from a variety of useful styles. Also studied WC with Sifu Johnny Walsh, also passed away, sadly, and Steve Lee Swift. Swift is extremely fast to witness in-person, his footwork can literally take him from 6 feet away from you to a fist in your face before you even know he's coming for you, wish I could manage to do that. Walsh's school was fun though because he also taught Western boxing and we got to work-out with the boxers - if you want to build your cardio, do what boxers do - exhausting, but you will become an iron man. The school in the video looks like fun, everyone is learning and having a great time doing it - that's the secret to sticking with something, you have to love it, and the best instructors help you learn to love your art.
Sifu Stashevich has one of the best WT schools in Europe. Just look at his skills and that of his students on his channel. I have great respect for this man.
This chi sao is only a system training your reflexes, so in a real fight things go automatically as soon as you get in touch with your opponent. You can feel what his next move is going to be and therefor react faster. WT is one of the most efficient kinds of martial arts, because it is not meant to be a martial art, but a way to defend yourself in real situations. You learn all this working with a partner, so it is even more realistic.
Because there's a much criticised video of the same fellow doing some rather aggressive demonstrations on some of his students. Hence the "creazy," I think this one is to set the record straight.
I practice WT for over 3 years now, and I can tell you: It works. It does not work if you just take maybe 10 lessons hoping someone would tell you ultimate Techniquies wich let you crush any oponent. But if you really do and understand the excerices, you learn alot of how a fight works and you learn alot of how you can win it. WT's main task is to improve your battle sense, and then further improve your skills, your punches etc...
Wing Tsun tries not to compete with energy/strength, but rather find away around it. This is done with rigorous training of the body and mind of theories and concepts, just as any other art.
This teacher was not banned by his master, nor anyone else... His teacher is from Germany and is visits every now and then... Screaming when he punches, you must be talking about some one else.
Lets get one thing strait, Wing Chun is a martial ART first and foremost. People chose to learn a martial art for numerous reasons such as to improve fitness, to engage socially, to learn some self-defense techniques but also because they want to learn an ART. This expands your mind and sets one apart from the knuckle dragging neanderthals who just want to learn how to destruct. I could teach anyone how to be tough - go and buy a baseball bat. I can't teach everyone humility though
It is refreshing to see a video in which the Sifu is not just beating up on his students to show his skill or elevate his street formula of the style. I actually see, teaching by breaking down positions, attacks in simple steps, good chi sao and correcting positions in forms. The students actually seem to be enjoying themselves as if smiles are forbidden in classes that train hard which they seem to be doing.
stofanoo, wing tsun is designed to be effective close rage mate when it go's to the ground thts when ya switch to salat or braz jud but as a stand up close range system it works with supprising efficientcy very fast and devastating.
Very good instructor. Students are very good. He may come across as hurting people but you need to put that reality across to your students as fighting does hurt.Teaching students the meaning of pain and how to control their own power is important.Demonstartions must come across as realistic otherwise people sit at home and criticise and pick holes in weak non realistic demonstrations. Seems a very good Sifu I would train with him.
#1- Kung Fu = (Good hard Work and skilled)in what ever you are doing. #2- Martial Art = the art performing hand to hand war / combat. A boxer can not always box if they are to fight a wrestler, or visa versa. Not everybody can be a boxer nor a wrestler and some don't seem to have any fighting ability.
I don't understand why this video was given the title crazy instructor. He actually seems like quite a good instructor. His students seem knowledgeable, skillful, and seem to be really enjoying their instruction. I'd like to study with this Sifu. As for the Leung Ting Mc Donalds comment. Don't hate on his success. I'm not train in his lineage, but he teaches quality wing chun and his many skilled disciples are a testimony to that. Each lineage of wing chun/tsun has something to offer.
Wing Tsun has ground techniques, unlike most other styles of wing chun. A very effective system against wrestling judo, or BJJ, if used correct and with out mercy.
Hahaha! Great argument there guys. Always nice to have something to laugh at after the videos. But I also agree with you. I've been doing MA for about 19 years and I'm also taking a Wing Chun instructor exam in a couple of months, I think this video is pretty good and the students all seem to be enjoying themselves. But in a mild defence of the other guy...he was right about practicing hard on your basics, especially grounding. Too many people bounce about the place like they're on springs!
@zombiekicker, I am experienced with full contact MMA fighting, I have blackbelts in Judo and Aiki-JuJitsu, and extensive background in boxing and muay thai. I have fought practitioners of every martial art I've ever heard of. In the last few years I have been learning wing chun and adding it to the mix, and I started a class to teach it to my students. I can tell you that karate and aikido would be your worst choices for a primary martial arts practice, and wing chun would be one of the best.
Yes, good school, I got the same thing. Good exercises, students in good mood and with smooth flow motion. Any Wing Tsun school should look like at least this.
i dont train wing chun, but something similar. i must say most of these close range hand technqiues are useful, even against other styles. but i do think grappling makes a difference, jus incase u do get into those situations. cant be too prepared now can we? very relaxed punching btw, keep it up! i'm getting jealous! hahaha
I have trained at this school, great experience. SiFu Dmitri is a excellent teacher and friend. He likes to have fun, games/sports, camping and training with them. They train WT, work hard, nothing wrong with their training, same as any with individual exceptions. People have different ideas of the same path, this teacher really understands this, and talks to his students/friends about making the chooses that is best for us.
Excelent video. There are a lot of really shit wing tsun video's on youtube but this one is brilliant. Well done. These people should be honoured to train under this Sifu. I can see he concerntrates on the techincal aspects of WT and his students appear to be of a very high calibre. I love how he pays particular attention to the importance of good footwork. If I could find a school in Australia of a standard of this I would definatly join.
the most important thing about bruce was his mind... he had the skill to think too much years in the future... bruces ideas are timeless... if you had spent the time that i did reading about what this guy proposed about human self development maybe you could agree fully with me... he was genius in my humble opinion!!!
Does the person who named his branch of Wing Chun Wing Tsun know that Wing Tsun was the original name of Wing Chun to begin with until Ng Mui named it after her 1st Student Yim Wing Chun?
Completely, and I certainly understand and know from experience that these students are not confused about power, in all its forms. They are not claiming to be the best martial artist nor think their art is the all supreme art. But many do have trouble understanding what they see in these vids of this particular school, as well as the art they study.
THIS INSTRUCTOR IS SKILLED, HIS TECHNIQUES ARE GOOD. HIS APPROACH TO TEACHING IS FINE. HOWEVER, IN TODAYS SOCIETY PEOPLE CARRY KNIVES. IF HE WOULD COME ACROSS A HIGHTLY SKILLED INDIVIDUAL THAT CAN USE A KNIFE. THIS INSTRUCTOR WOULD not live.
in wc demonstrations people always attack with a high cheek and always trying to grab your arm or something like that. The thing is that on the street people don`t fight like that, only in wc "dojos".
Their goal is not to block every punch, not to mention the idea of destroying an oncoming force is no where to be found in this art. Although with true and unrehearsed situation, movements and natural reaction does become a block of that nature. In fact their first goal is to hit, and the rest is just something getting in the way of the true goal, which is to eliminating your enemy
Certainly, SiFu Dmitri uses lesson from Tao Te Ching, and Confusious...He believes martial arts is a great way for people to discover themselves and strengthen their physical and mental attributes.
Yeah I know that, I studied wt (for master Wai Po Tang) for three years and I also thought that wc was the most efficient system. But then I got in touch with Muay Thai and that changed everything. WC still have the high cheek,no hooks the front leg that is slightly turned to the side and perfect to do low kicks on.I don`t buy that anymore.
Ok. that´s what I call sisuq (master-uncle). Actually, when i studied WT, my master was my sisuq, as there was only one sifu in the whole country (I never had class with him). My master was his "brother", as they both had studied under the same sifu.
No competition, this isn't there goal. They only hope to find real understanding of uncontrolled situation. These people are no professional fighters, they only do this for self-realization and not to be fooled by how good they do why training in a controlled situation (why practicing).
I will agree with the idea of techniques which have a much lesser chance of use, because of the most prominent variables in a conflict; heart rate increase, undetermined strengths of opponents, and timing. But claiming the art has no use is not for you to determine, but the practitioner who wishes to explore their possibilities. I'm sure there's something you do in your life, which another person may feel is useless, should that determine whether you do it anymore, maybe, but that is up to you!
Yes, there is always room for improvement. But people have gone out of there way to bash this SiFu's videos... But he is a great instructor. But he would not say in any way, he's better then anyone else. At least not with out some kind of friendly challenge.
Don't totally disregard Wing Chun. You can take their hand techniques and combine them with Muay Thai footwork and leg techniques to make it more efficient for you. Remember, a Martial Art is only as good as how you apply it.
All of his students practice with and against bjj and other arts. The teacher is very capable of defending or using grounds techniques. People think they know so much, just from watching a video.

Why is everybody calling each other names? This video is a normal basic training routine of good quality.
It all has its place in all of us. if you check out my wing tsun playlist, you will find many more videos of this same school first on the list.

I love wing tsun and i used to practice it but since i broke my left arm all is over... i fucking miss wing tsun... it was my life...
It looks like a real good Wing Tsun school ;-)
very good teacher!!!!! you are so lucky to have him!!!!!
Yeah that's sweet, wing tsun is so much fun!

all the people in this lesson seem to be really cool!!!
I agree, this style is more flash than substance!
i think youtube has unfortunatelly a short space for that discussion....
this school should be called the pattycake academy
the most important thing about bruce was his mind... he had the skill to think too much years in the future... bruces ideas are timeless... if you had spent the time that i did reading about what this guy proposed about human self development maybe you could agree fully with me... he was genius in my humble opinion!!!

im a kung-fu practitioner and i see nothing crazy in his teaching methods.
gymnastics and cheerleading is the difference between martial arts and wing chun
nice wing-chun...love it
The people in the beginning of this video look like the boxing toy robots.
nice vid, look like true wing chun...who's the sifu????
enigma- page of cups....
I think the "creazy" was meant for the scene at 3:40, where it looks like he's smacking down his student x'D
europe has such a high level o finterest and ability when it comes to WC practioners

put one of those guys in the floor and all there training goes summarizes to NOTHING
LOVE IT!
bardzo ciekawa sztuka
Certainly, SiFu Dmitri uses lesson from Tao Te Ching, and Confusious...He believes martial arts is a great way for people to discover themselves and strengthen their physical and mental attributes.
nice video. i love WT
great moves...if you're slow dancing or doing choreographed ice skating.
Really nice.
Thanks for taking your time to explain =)

NO, Sifu means Father in chinese terms but master in english understanding.
not bad , good footwork work on your center line lol
Ok. that´s what I call sisuq (master-uncle). Actually, when i studied WT, my master was my sisuq, as there was only one sifu in the whole country (I never had class with him). My master was his "brother", as they both had studied under the same sifu.
interessante come vi allenate molto bravo il vostro maestro nel spiegarvi le tecniche.ciao

hi,
can anyone tell me where is this school and who is the instructor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s I think if anyone has any degrading remarks should stop talking, go 2 this school and challenge them
wow.. this video is reall neat! =)
All of his students practice with and against bjj and other arts. The teacher is very capable of defending or using grounds techniques. People think they know so much, just from watching a video.
That`s true.
Does anyone know of a full time WT school? Not a once a week class thing. But a full time every day collage type thing.
2:00 minutes - Reverence to the Master
Thank you, I am unfamiliar with uncle.
i think they should have a compatetion
with these lot search this Gongkwonyoosool
can some one pm the title of music thanks
cool...deer fighting, actually it's crane and snake, also a fox. haha... But I like the deer reference. I agree in some aspects, boxing has a better upperbody defense, muay thai has lowerbody offense/defense+tie-up skill. Why, neither have ground skills, I am sure you would add BJJ. Also, muay thai has many of the same concepts as WC, only a few distinct characteristics separate them; trapping, high kicks, and exposure of their center. Also you have a point i should say that kind of things about comparing traditional and modified, but it's just logical, that evolving art should be better like older one. super cool
base is more important than system..this students are going to have good base.for eg.. some great fighters are not so good sifus and their students have no base.

I have, also with very good wrestlers, and other martial artist. I am not talk playing. very serious sparring. But I must have been dreaming, because according to you, I need to wake up.
