When I saw that the first thing to check was the hose, I thought what a waste of time as how could my hose possibly be 100% blocked. But in a sequence of problem solving and investigation from easy to hard, this would be the smart thing to do. It turns out I did have a hose issue after all. We have hoses with anti-flood valves built in and that was the cause of the blockage. Fortunately the label with instructions on how to reset was still intact on the hose.So thanks for leading me to this first step as I was about to disassemble my washer.

What he said was he found a little bit of sediment ( sand) in the hose. He didn't show cleaning out the hose so the viewer is to assume this and thereby clearing out the clog. Am I right?
I get no hot water from my 3 year old GE washer - I read that the manufacturer set the water vales NOT to run hot water as per government regulations so you won't use up all your hot water in your home -- and therefore not burn more fuel to replace the hot water - this information came directly from the GE website!! - I was amazed ---- when I try to use hot water it comes out room temperature - never hot. I do not know if there is a way around this nonsense - but when I want hot water to clean clothes - I expect HOT water -- same as I get from my sink ---- any suggestions ?

Just turn the cold shut off control off for the hot wash and turn it back on for the cold rinse. Mine does the same and it makes me feel like hitting Al Gore and his globalist friends with my cast iron frying pan.

My Whirlpool Imperial Series top load washer is dispensing hot water when it is not supposed to. It does it when it is in agitate mode and when it is set on cold water. Does this sound like the water inlet valve?

Remove the screen at the wall end, clean it up good. Then take the hose out completely, go to your garden faucet, and attach the "machine side" to the garden faucet and open the faucet. The pressure will clean up any clog. Worst case, head to Lowes a get a new hose - they are cheap.

If there's a screen on one end of the hose, pour water into the opposite end to push it through.
