    Great video! I feel like base building videos for kenshi is a topic that isn’t shown a lot on RUclips and I can appreciate this a lot.

      Thank you. I've long since felt like base building on Kenshi has been an unexplored space. We all do it. But anytime I ever look up inspiration or ideas, I find nothing. It's always stuff like "impenetrable gate maze" or "best locations to build" but the bases are always function first with only defence and production in mind. But the engine, once you get the hang of it can make some really badass stuff. So I'm excited to give this to the community and maybe get some other people to start making some unique and exciting bases too. Fuel some inspiration

      @@HeroInHisHead nice! I Hope you start this trend in the community. Also hope Lofi gets back to you, I’m sure some of us were wondering where the Kenshi videos were but glad you’re back. Maybe just not the right time to generate more hype for Kenshi 2, but they could’ve definitely been more professional and gave you an update.

    • @HeroInHisHead

      @darindiv9582 I hope so too. And yeah that was the thing that kind soured me a bit. I would have been 100% fine if they changed their mind or something came up or it wasn't the right time or even if they even just felt I was proposing bad ideas, so long as they had told me. But the sudden stop in communication hit me the wrong way. Especially since at that point I was the only lore youtuber for Kenshi that had gained traction really and had been at the front of Kenshi 2 development content as well. Just kinda felt unprofessional.
      But make no mistake I'm not holding it against them and will continue to support them and the community because they make great games and are good people as far as I can see. Just wish things could have been a bit different I guess.

      its amazing, sometimes it has issues with importing a save and the jobs system (hauling ranges for ores) but overall it adds a ton to the game visually

    Oh man! I was waiting so long to see this content! I've resubscribed and I don't think I'll leave again!
    Right now I'm planning to build a fortress around a lake, mostly to stop raids. Still, I would like to give it an aesthetic appearance.
    Thank you for coming back!

    Thanks a lot for that video :)
    A year ago I wanted to build my own settlement but was SO afraid to use the editor cause everywhere online you see people saying that it WILL 10000% kill your savefile and corrupt and its super risky etc etc. Plus I also got kinda overwhelmed with the possibilities. I've watched your shorts back then and they helped a lot, but alas they were too short to take that "building-anxiety" away. But now, with that video, it feels I have a much better understanding how the editor works and how creative I could get. Would love to see more towns you design, you're a creative guy :)

    • @HeroInHisHead
      @HeroInHisHead  3 месяца назад +1

      One of my new favorite comments.
      I made this video and my shorts because I saw a gap in content. People were telling other people how to play their game, and what they can and can't do on a basis of fear and misunderstanding of the ingame editor. I wanted to show people that the editor isn't to be feared but to be explored. That it doesnt need to be this horrifying thing and could instead enhance one's game I'm a setting where those loud few cant object because the proof is infront of them
      There us a few loud people who bricked their game, or worse, assumed they would brick their game, because they didn't take the time to testing the tool out and see what works. But the the truth is the editor is just that, a tool to be used to enhance your experience as you see fit. And frankly fearmongering it only stunts creativity and limits potential.
      And I can tell you this. I've been using this tool for 3 years now with no issues or ramifications on my game from doing it. If you follow my steps and don't wander off, you'll have no issue. So have fun and build on my friend. And if you run into an issue let me know and I'll walk you through it.

    oh my god ive never seen anyone else build with the f12 and stick building in weird places in the terrain, like i hate when people just stick it in a flat plain and put a box around their town, i always build in the cliffs and the strangest places but ive never seen anyone else do it, i will most definitely be subscribing

    I rarely tried the function because when I tried to experiment with it always bugged. After the changes I may give a try and design my settlements and put them into the game. Also trying to make a faction that uses these cities. The city you created is pretty good, I personally would add some market stalls and some more shacks to outside then add few other crops for farming. A simple well 2-3 also would be handy there and a stone mine outside. Other than these the whole city looks good.

  • @colmortimer1066

    That was interesting to watch. I usually just use the base game stuff to build an outpost, but they tend to be large settlements with a lot of spaced out buildings. Can you use these things like the manual moving and such with the f12 menu while still needing your people to add the materials and build thing things? Also you often seem to be placing buildings that are shaded red and you place them anyway.
    Basically, I am wondering what tools and mods you use to force buildings where you want them, even when they game does not "allow it" and can I still use those while playing the game, and need to collect and use resources and labor to build my town.

    • @HeroInHisHead
      @HeroInHisHead  4 месяца назад +8

      So I'll answer your questions in a couple parts
      1: When I want to avoid "Cheating" persay what I will do is ill build the building myself with resources and then use the Shift+F12 menu to move the building once it's completed into position. That way I'm still building it and I am only using the menu to get around Kenshis limitations on placement.
      2: when using the F12 menu you can place things even when they are Red. It's basically a Map editor so it exists largely outside of the traditional limitations with the exception of indoor/outdoor requirements or node requirements.
      3: the important thing to remember is you can use the menu to move buildings snd stuff around but anytime you do you need to save a reload to make then work and update the Navmesh. If you don't then the buildings will be phasable and the area the build was at will still behave as if it was there blocking your path.
      Hope that helps and I'm glad to see you're still watching my content!

      There is a really good spot to the right of the Hub that has a really tall peak with lots of slopes and space that can be built into a truly monstrous fortress.

    I had 200+ hours in kenshi now. But i still can’t rotate a building and a furnitures without the shift f12 button. I need to manually do it like what you’re doing to the walls. It’s stressful.

      When you're in Shift+F12 you can place in the red with no issue because editor supercedes the restriction. The only restrictions that it doesnt over shadow are interior exterior requirements and node requirements.
