The whole movie was perfect right up until the kiss at the end. The kiss was cold. What happened with that? Wished they could have gotten that kiss right. But I love this movie and so much better than the one played by Christie years before.

Dream man. What we all would hope to find in a man, continuous support, loyalty and devotion. He was so beautiful, and I mean on the inside regarding the way he was with her despite her not being his. Matthias portrayed him so beautifully, and I think it’s because he is similar to this character in real life by the way he talks about women and how much depth he has in interviews. I loved this film very much, it was so beautifully done. It didn’t portray women in a simplistic, superficial manner nor did it over-do the independent woman trope. It was natural. I’d say it’s one of my favorite romances/films now in general 👏🏾🥹

If you would read the book Boldwood was in his 50’s and wanting to marry an 18 yr. old. He also was obsessive and wanted to own her. He had no idea of who she really was while Gabriel was 10 yrs.older and understood her implicitly. He knew her and loved her for the complex and capable woman she was. He also guided her in away that improved her.
