We eat the leaves of these plants made in to a curry cooked together with lentils/dhal. Coconut milk is added to the curry and it's very yummy. There's a purple colour plant also of this same variety. Btw I am from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

In Indonesia we call it Spinach. We eat the young leaves. We cook them for several dish such as: soup "Sayur Bening/ Sayur Kunci", poridge " Bubur manado", Javanesse salad "Pecel", and stir fry the young leaves. For the old big leaves we make them for snack, a cracker as we called it "Peyek". You can google it. Don't wory this kind of spinach is edible.

In Jamaica 🇯🇲 we sauté the leaves, and stems in a little coconut oil, garlic, onion and tomato over white rice delicious 😋

这个菜叫苋菜,但它是野生的。浙江尤其是宁波绍兴那一带的人喜欢吃“三臭”,就是臭豆腐,臭冬瓜还有臭苋菜梗。怎么做今天还是第一次看到。小时候,夏季,经常见农家挑着自家做好的“霉苋菜梗”进城沿街叫卖。买回家后就蒸熟了淋上香油吃。20多年前回国探亲,去拜访大学老师时得知,系里一位熟悉的师娘吃了从农家买的“霉苋菜梗”后中毒身亡。这事儿还上了当地的报纸。不知是没有蒸熟还是没有腌制到位。所以,还是要当心点。
