It's been a pleasure working together with the master! Thanks for having me on ^^
It's interesting to see creators collaborate.
Ayo is youu
I love when you and Zeltik work together on projects.
The master and the apprentice, y’all are both goddess-tier Zeldatubers! 😄
I still remember when you first came onto the scene, you’re so cool!
Another interesting point that wasn’t mentioned is that the torch she’s holding on her render can also be seen falling alongside her at the latest trailer (2:01), I doubt it’s just a coincidence
You're right.
Yea, it might just be her when she’s walking to see Ganondorf though, so we can’t be sure
They probably tried to say that Zelda might actually survive and she uses her torch while she's underground mabey I hope that Zelda is a playable character
She is in the same position, the torch can be seen falling in the 2023 clip, but in the 2021 clip no torch is seen. Another point, there is no link when they show her falling and the camera does not continue to move as it would if it is in links first person.
@@nikolairazuvayev7987 Ur right 🤓
3 Zeltik videos in 10 days. We eating good
yes sir
We eating reeeaal good.
Yes but we need Zelda videos every day. :) I kid I kid. Luckily there is more than one person doing Zelda on RUclips.
yessirrrr
FS (for sure)
If she's alive, for the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom she won't be Princess Zelda. She'll be Queen Zelda.
Assuming she's had her coronation. I can't help but think that with how short a time jump we got, that probably never happened, due to the focus on reconstruction.
The Zelda from Twilight Princess was the sole regent of Hyrule for an extended period of time according to one of the NPCs and yet she was still called "Princess Zelda" regardless. Like Princess Peach in the Mario games Zelda might need to marry a husband in order to fully inherit the title of queen.
@@kaitoudark1 I think she automatically becomes Queen, the coronation is merely a ceremonial thing.
@@javiervasquez625 It is also weird that Midna is known as "The Twilight Princess" despite being seemingly the ruler of the Twilight Realm. Nintendo is weird about using the term Queen I guess.
Oml- it’s like watching a child grow up
“I am not sure you will be able to stop him” sounds an awful lot like a conversation between the two after ganondorf’s resurrection?
REALLY good point. That all but confirms that she'll be a part of the game, but unfortunately that doesn't tell us whether she's just a disembodied voice or not.
@@fruityoo and when she asks the deity (most likely Hylia) to lend Link power. I'm certain after Zelda falls she's transported to Hylia's residence.
@@fruityoo She could also be talking to him through telepathy similar to A Link to the Past and Breath of the Wild. As Link awakens with the green arm fused to his body Zelda sends him a message delivering exposition as to what happened to her and what Ganondorf has been doing since he awoke from his seal.
@@mishoniwanniman8321 ¿Why would it be Hylia when no other Zelda has ever needed their ancestors's direcr intervention to defeat an incarnation of Ganondorf? It's far more likely that she's talking to the "mural being" who's green arm fused with Link in order to save his life and help him counter Ganondorf's Malice. Knowing Hylia she would never wait for one of her ancestors's pleas to assist an incarnation of the Hero should they ever need it.
@@javiervasquez625 Due to all the symbolism in the murals pointing to Zelda and the deity being parallels in some way, I thought the being with the green arm was Hylia. It might be a misdirect though
killing botw Zelda would be so cruel…. she’s straight up suffered so much of her life. from feeling worthless because she couldn’t unlock her sealing power, her efforts to defend hyrule backfiring and getting her father and her friends killed, being sealed up with ganon for 100 years, probably aware of how hyrule has deteriorated after the calamity… the girl deserves a break
hopefully with Link
@@allenking6268 exactly they deserve to live happily together
@@gabriellamorrison7567 i mean they did state that this game would be darker than majora's mask, one of the darkest games in the series already
@@dusitn_ wait- DARKER THAN MAJORAS MASK?! dang, it’s gonna be VERY dark then.
@@dusitn_ Then goodbye Zelda
I want it to be like a “split” type of gameplay. As in you play with Link above ground and in the sky, but then also switch every so often to the second quest with Zelda underground. That would be the most ideal thing for me
Same. Also I think it would be cool if she is playable, if they can use weapons in different ways. Link can still use his weapons the same as he did in Botw, for it would be cool if Zelda does slightly less damage, but if she’s much better at using magic weapons like Wizrobe’s wands and stuff
@@naeshaunedwards7731 yeahh so you have to use other methods to get through confrontations! Unlike with Link where you can just spam attack everyone
So like in Paper Mario 64 where in between chapters you play as Peach who, despite not having the power to break out of the castle, still has agency and manages to help Mario giving him information, items, etc.
They could always have Zelda play similar to Peach in Paper Mario where her gameplay would focus more on stealth sequences without much in regards to combat that would be too similar to Link's. Hopefully she'll be equipped with many features to allow her to defeat enemies without relying too much on her magic powers.
@@javiervasquez625 True, Zelda wouldn't have the same combat prowess as Link, so I guess her gameplay involves stealth or fighting using the environment and sheikah slates.
I think it's worth mentioning that the eye on Zelda's Sheikah Slate bears a striking resemblance to the goggles Purah and Robbie wear, and I think Purah mentions having (made?) her own Sheikah Slate. I think that's where Zelda's Sheikah Slate comes from: Purah made it. Dunno what implications that could have, but there you go.
I was thinking the same thing
It could tie into the fact that the original Slate doesn't work for her like it does for Link, so she uses one that's more compliant.
this is true, purah did mention in her journal that she made her own, and also to mention there were hints that the sheikah slate was considered as a common item 10,000 years ago, but for some reason only one existed in botw (also the fact that you had to go to shrines to say "download" the runes gives off that idea, Nintendoblackcrisis had a video explaining that)
You were so correct on that one mate. :)
I usually never watch videos like this that try to theorize about the plot because I feel like most of them are just way too farfetched. When I see a Zeltik video about ANYTHING I just watch it because I know his videos are always interesting, well reasoned and written and cut in an entertaining way. Keep up the good work!
Agreed, nothing worst then a theorist that speculates with nothing to back up their theories. At that point they aren't theorizing, they're just telling us what they want. But Zeltik, Monster Maze, NBC and Bandit always go into the smallest details on to how they got whatever theory they cooked up. It's still just a theory in the end but the homework done makes it a real possibility.
You mentioned the shrine of Resurrection and for some reason I have a feeling that the reason we see Ganondorf's Malice erupting out of the Great Plateau is that he will use the Shrine of Resurrection to restore his body.
This. That occurred to me as a possibility all the way back when the first trailer came out. I don’t think it will happen, because I think the castle will be his home base, but it would be so cool if it did.
his voice in the latest trailer didn't seem to come out of a decaying skeleton mummy thing, maybe that's why
Hoooooo boy, that would be awesome
What if Zelda's death is looped? Your first tear lets you turn back time a bit. Another tear lets you turn back a bit more. (Like upgrades in Prince of Persia) you enter the loop repeatedly until you can finally save her and break the loop.
Zelda could die but she is always destined to return.
I think there are some HUGE time manipulation evidences... Especially the different states of the world and the big rocks that falls from the skies, you can rewind them to go to the islands and link is able to freeze time and Rewind time, rendering the colours black and white ;) There's definitly something going on with time imo.
And they said TotK would be BotW's Majora's Mask... I like this theory
I had posted the same idea on a monster maze video, it would be really cool. Hard to say.
In the trailer we see that Link is traveling in time, so that definitely is a possibility!
The zelda meeting a terrible fate line was the smoothest reference I've seen
In the latest trailer, we also hear Zelda speak after Ganondorf wakes up (saying she is not sure Link will be able to stop him).
So if she died right when he woke up that would not really be possible...
Unless she speaks to him as a spirit. We already saw her speak telepathically to him when she and Calamity Ganon were locked in the castle
Having Zelda tag along in Spirit Tracks is why it remains one of my favourites. It's so nicely done and really creates a relationship between them. I think it would be very fitting for this incarnation of the pair to have a similar situation.
@6:32, in that wall carving, that Zelda is not falling, but more like being levitated above the malice. When you're falling, your hair would be facing upwards. Not downwards. It almost looks like Zelda is being sacrificed in this carving. Of course, I could be wrong since we still don't have all the info about this story behind the wall carvings until we play the game.
I went from hoping Zelda would be playable, to hoping she stuck around to help with the journey and now just hoping she survives. If she dies I will not be ok
Yes based on Breath of the Wild with no consistent interaction with Zelda in the present, I think it would be bad for Nintendo to do that again. We want some back and forth.
You have the same reaction as me. When I discovered Zelda in 2020 with BotW being my first game, I saw a lot of admirable qualities in Zelda (and also bits of myself in a way so I’m clearly biased) and she became my favourite character. I think I’ll lose it and stop playing for a while if she dies.
@@Ana36377 , yes, I also wouldn't want her to die either, it would hurt me a lot and I would feel very dissapointed and discouraged, but we're talking about Zelda here, you can't just kill Zelda, it's Zelda after all, her death wouldn't make any sense, it's "The legend of Zelda", and you need her as well as you need Link, the world can not be saved without this two, and besides the sentence "But Link, I am not sure you'll be able to stop him" clearly has to be said after that great disgrace that happens at the castle and after Ganondorf awakes and after the fall of Zelda because of what the sentence itself is saying, it wouldn't make sense otherwise, it's clearly after everything goes to hell so Zelda has to be alive, so or it is Zelda speaking face to face with Link or it is Zelda in his head.
Besides it's not like Zelda hasn't endured tragedies and near death experiences in other games, it's just that here it is shown to us in a trailer and left in a kind of cliffhanger without revealing to us what happens next and what happens in general with Zelda, so our minds run wild with theories and all kind of speculations and possibilities without even having any kind of real information, so don't worry, I really find it highly unlike as you can see, it makes no sense and based on what we have seen, on the sentence, it hints at another thing, that she is alive
Guys don’t worry Zelda will be fine even if she dies I’m sure Nintendo will find a way to make sure we have a chance to bring her back
Why not both? 🤷🏼♂️
I think the shot where Zelda falls into the dark pit and disappears is probably from links nightmare in the beginning of the game and then when Zelda makes link take her to explore underground and when they find ganondorf and when Zelda starts falling link remembers what happened in his nightmare and catches her this time like what we see in the newest trailer. That’s probably why there’s two different shots of the same events in all of the trailers.
Interesting idea I hadn't considered that! It would also make sense to start the game with Link sleeping as is tradition
Counterpoint though is that the original trailer was in early development of the game, the new shots are probably the "final" versions.
I personally don't think this is the case, though it wouldn't shock me too much if the opening location where Ganondorf is acts as a tutorial dungeon of sorts before you get full freedom.
However, what I'm seeing is this:
1. Link and Zelda find Ganondorf
2. Ganondorf awakens and corrupts Link's arm and the Master Sword
3. Zelda falls into the pit
4. Link jumps out to grab Zelda while dropping the Master Sword
5. Zelda prays to Goddess Hylia to rescue Link
6. The Goddess Hylia (which is also the green hand holding down Ganondorf) grabs Link and brings him to the sky
7. Zelda still falls into the pit because the hand grabbed Link before he could grab her
8. Zelda either escapes on her own (likely in a sequence where we're playing as her) or one of Link's objectives is to rescue Zelda
I think its fairly likely we'll play Zelda in short bursts in the underground as she's trying to find a way out, and that can also be used as a way to help Link above by activating certain things.
If time travel has a hand in this game, maybe on the start of the game is where Zelda falls truly and dies. Ganondorf fully awakens and wrecks havoc in the upper world with no way of getting sealed because Zelda's gone. So Link must master his new magical hand to find a way to reverse time to before Zelda's death. And you go around Hyrule and the lands above and below to get those vials or "tears" to completely upgrade the hand. And once you get those, you could fully turn back time and rescue Zelda before her death and they both reseal/kill Ganondorf before his full awakening.
@@JaidynReiman I was thinking maybe after Link completes a major dungeon and collects the reward, it cuts to Zelda trying to find her way through the underground.
New Sheikah Slate has a Lens of Truth-like-camera on it... Could it be that it's used to SEE the spirits hanging out on the right side of the underground "mushroom forest" clip? The closest thing to these spirits, the forms people take in TP when Hyrule is in twilight, required Wolf Link to use his Senses to see and interact with them. If Zelda does have her own side of the story, maybe one use of the new Sheikah Slate is literally as a fancy Lens of Truth, revealing things that you can't normally see - like the true forms of spirits.
Plus, if it is Hyrule's underworld, where the dead roam... Zelda would have a lot to overcome, not just against Ganondorf, but against the people that she failed to save from the Calamity 100+ years ago.
Yeah. There would be a lot of people to meet. The champions would tell her she did her best, King Rhoam would tell her he was sorry for pushing her this much, and there would be people who would blame her for the calamity.
I doubt the dead people of Hyrule would downright BLAME her for their deads at Ganondorf's hands when her inability to use her Sealing Power was clearly beyond her control and the real person they should and would direct their hatred to is the same man who's currently leading his armies across the kingdom with plans to kill everyone alive in the surface. Zelda will probably be far more interested in healing the collective sorrow of all those lingering spirits stranded in the Underworld Majora's Mask style rather than feeling any guilt for not doing something which was beyond her own decision to control.
@@mariustan9275 No one would blame her specifically rather they would all be depressed and remorseful at the fact they died and are unnable to pass on into the Afterlife motivating Zelda to do something about it in order to undoe all of Ganondorf's actions 100 years ago.
Well now that the game came out I can comfortably say that she is basically the meme “well yes, but actually no”
wdym she literally is alive when you beat the game. she turns into a human
@@PBOPFunnies “well yes, but actually no” refers to her technically still being alive but shes a dragon so shes technically not living since all of her humanity/memories were lost once she sacrificed herself.
@@meow1ncorporatedat the end of the game she is alive. i never asked what that phrase was referring to .
I still can’t get over how well these videos are put together. The quality is just on another level. Great work you two!!
Are you going to make a part 3 to the classic enemies reimagined series? I would love to see more of your concept art. Maybe you could do the Gohma, Dodongo, Taurus, Bemos, Gibdo, Deku Baba, Dead Hand, Bulblin and Bulbo, Aeralfos, or Goriya, or maybe you could do items reimagined, like the hookshot.
you focused a lot on zelda's slate in the newest artwork but you didn't even mention what she is holding in the other hand: a torch
while it might just refer to the first trailer, it could also be an important clue to her being stuck underground
13:45 love that you used “Great Underground Rivers” from Elden Ring for this part’s music 🤩
I think when she falls, it’s like when Gandalf falls in Fellowship of the Ring.
best possible outcome!
She fights a Balrog from the lowest dungeons to the highest peak? Then she smites the mountainside with the ruins of her foe? Then darkness takes her, and the stars wheel overhead, where each day was a lifetime of the earth?

- Zelda, 2023, Tears of the Kingdom (...maybe)
"Fly you fools!"
"I have returned from death. and now . . . I am Zelda the green!"
Im sorry but if she dies, I'm going to lose my freaking mind. She needs to spend more time with Link especially since he put so much work into saving her in BotW. Just the thought of Link without her hurts :(
Ngl zelda should be playable.
She shouldn’t die
Indeed. I hate these theories about Zelda dying. It nearly ruined "Skyward Sword" for me, not wanting to find out if she died.
I hope she dies. It would be more dramatic
We don't know that for sure....he could be spending time with paya-
Edit: a joke cuz ppl don't seem to get that. And there's love triangles in this game.....so- I'm just curious about what would happen in the game. Like if we have Zelink moments....or paya x link....or if riju and everyone is okay. Many things thinking about for the game honestly.
It never ceases to amaze me how zeltik can find the most hidden details that show so much
I believe "tears" refers to Sheikah/Zonai. The title of the game has always been a hint to the focus of the game's main mechanic. Through the newest trailer we see a lot of Sheikah/Zonai tech, which could be the main mechanic in the game. As in, you need to build and use Sheika/Zonai tech to progress the game.
Sheikah is known to have an eye with a tear as a symbol, and they are known to be close connected to the royal family, which lines perfectly with "Tears of the Kingdom".
Zonai then being an ancient version of the Sheikah.
yes, and if i am correct, in skyward sword you collect tears in the under relm (idk what its called) and you have to do it before time runs out, and in one of the totk trailers, link had a thing on his hip that looked similar to the skyward sword flower that had the tears.
Great Video as always, points out a lot of keys elements and story pacing that I haven't thought about.
Already saw MM's part of the collab, love you guys:)
Just another great totk vid! Keep up the good work!
I could see Zelda dying but eventually coming back to life with the Tears of the Kingdom. I also see that once Zelda is resurrected she is the one that repairs The Master Sword. Also my last theory is that the Wisps in the cavern is Zelda's body/spirit.
But will she come back as a person afterwards? I wanted Zelda to live her life to the fullest and become a scholar. Not ended in a wildly depressing way.
@@a.jthomas6132 I mean maybe or she becomes a goddess.
@@Iruleyoufail That would mean Zelda is dead and the Goddess Hylia lives
i wouldnt be surprised if she becomes like a spirit that follows link around like spirit tracks, instead of just a text bubble and a blinding light
I really hope she isn't killed off. It would not only sour the ending of the first game but also prove that the creators don't know what to do with the series' namesake. Even if she's not playable, she should have an active role in the story.
I doubt they kill off the most personalized Zelda in the series. Even if she dies she's probably still has an active role.
Especially after how much a playable Zelda was discussed around Breath of the Wild. To go from that to having her sit on the sidelines the whole game is the opposite of any direction the fans wanted. Even if they think the purity of the franchise is having no playable Zelda, fans will understand that and that actually might be true, but having her sit on the sidelines after how Breath of the Wild played out is just a bad idea.
Relax there's no way they'll ever kill her off after all the buildup that her character went through in Breath of the Wild not to mention Ganondorf's reliance on Zelda's wellbeing in order to carry out his plans. Wathever happens to Zelda overall during the story it'll only happen after she's done a lot of contribution to the story and her character has *developed* accordingly to players's expectations after seeing her grow in Breath of the Wild.
Nice to see a cooperation of my two favourite Zelda RUclipsrs. Keep up the good work, guys! :D
I really hope Zelda plays a significant role in Tears of the Kingdom. She is my favourite incarnation of Zelda by far.
I love how you got a screenshot of zelda freezing in the mod where you play as zelda for the thumbnail
Great video, thanks for all the content Zeltik!!
Zeldas new haircut could hint at that she might be playable and customizable too. Short hair makes helmets, hoods and hats "easier" to wear from a game design perspective. No need to animate big flowing hair under a hat for example.
Whenever Redeads are involved, there are usually dark caverns/Labyrinth afoot, so i feel that the cave system is real. What i want to see now is a redesign Gibdo, Floor and Wall Masters and a redesign Dead Hand. Really make us feel fear underground. I wonder if Poes will return and if that creature from the 1st trailer really is a redesign Likelike
small theory. in your last video from a couple days ago, you mentioned that the area with the weird tower thing would be the starter area, like the great plateau. well i think the shot where link opens the doors in the September 22 trailer is in that building, same how you leave the shrine of resurrection into that opening cutscene in the first game. thanks for this video Zeltik and keep it up!
My two favourite voices in one video. The world needs more of this. :D
So, has anyone else notice with the Master Sword broken and his tunic singed and his arm damaged, that something overpowered the Master Sword, and it exploded in his hand? Causing him to look like that!
Probably Ganondorf's Malice overwhelming the Master Sword to the point it shattered.
This is very interesting…
I might have discovered something, if you look at the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, some parts of it the sky islands aren’t visible, this makes me think that the whole cave incident is not in the beginning. I think it’s a bit later into the game when Link/you and Zelda find Ganondorf. Many people seem to think that the sky islands appearing has to do with Ganondorf’s supposed resurrection, and I agree. So I think, for a bit at least, you will be with Zelda when you start, possibly continuing to return Hyrule to its “former glory” like in the end of Breath of the Wild. But then something happens and you come across the caves and stuff. Anyways, if Zelda does die, it would be comforting to know you get to spend a bit more time with her, possibly uncover more of her and Link’s story…but hey, I could be wrong, it’s just a theory :)
a game theory.
Im hoping the game takes inspiration from castle in the sky and Zelda gently floats to a subsurface realm to begin her own journey. I also hope there is a gorgeous island in the center of that vortex thingy
Here from monster mazes vid! Love the collabs
I really don’t think they’ll kill off Zelda. I do believe she’ll be playable and maybe we will need to switch to her in certain parts of the game In order for her to solve puzzles etc
We don't see Zelda after the fall but we do hear her: "Link, i do not think you'll be able to defeat him"
It sounds like something she would say after witnessing Ganon's power (aka his awakening), and she also does not sound like a is a disembodied voice like during BotW when she is trapped in the castle. Zelda sounds like she is with Link and she comments on what has happened when Ganondorf broke the seal.
Very nice touch adding Elden Ring music when talking about TotK’s underground 👌
Giving the fact that Zelda had an entire background and progression in BOTW lore, visible in books and memories, I would really be disappointed if she wouldn't play a major role in TOTK. After being stucked with Ganon during 100 years, it would be annoying to have another "inactive" Zelda like we already had in past Zelda games. Furthermore, Nintendo have the occasion to give her even more evolution, so I'll hope she's gonna live something important during the game, playable or not. I'm pretty sure Zelda will not die, it would be too dark for Nintendo, but maybe we'll have some surprises ? But yeah, I also thinked about SS Zelda that had a wonderful journey, and it would be so cool to have that kind of Zelda !
Such an amazing collaboration and video once again!
I am curious, though… a lot of people seem to think TOTK will loop back to SS… but then how can the Zelda team explain the origin story (the three golden goddesses, the creation of the planet, the triforce, etc)? I’ve had such a hard time wrapping my head around this, and maybe I’m just missing the answer… but it’s going to drive me NUTS if this is a song of storms situation 😂
Yeah the "timeloop theory" doesn't add up once you realize the incosistency surrounding the Creation of the Zelda World and the Golden Goddesses's direct pressence in the world for such a tragic fate to befall the many denizens of the Zelda world forever cursed to relive the same experiences for eternity. I'm sure such a "twist" is completely detached from what Nintendo intends to do with the game's narrative.
@@javiervasquez625 Yeah. Nintendo tries to be more family-friendly and likes their happy endings.
Good news guys. Zelda is not dead, i clearly saw him in the new gameplay as the main character.
4:03
"But with Zelda meeting a terrible fate right at the start..."
Very obscure reference, I love it. Clever.
(I have no idea if its just a coincidence or not but its still very cool)
You are one of the best Zelda RUclipsrs, the amount of quality put into these is ridiculous and I hope once Totk comes out you'll still have amazing ideas.
It's pretty clear she won't die. We hear her say to Link that Ganondorf might be too powerful to be defeated, so they already encountered him and survived after the incident underground
Yeah but tbh why would she know that, seems more like something a deity in need of help of a hero would say, as for her saying “please, lend him your strength” also seems like she’s asking the aid (as a deity) of other, either deities or beings like sages able to help the hero. But following the narrative of what we’ve been given, (and let’s be honest, that figure in the white /green dress is Zelda, either as Hylia or as Zelda), we see botw Zelda falling in a very ominous setting, now we see a being with Zelda’s figure bathed in a spiritual glow or light. What he says I said a couple weeks back about that cyclical nature and Zelda taking n the form of Hylia as an Omega to skyward swords Alpha. So yeah I think she dies and is resurrected either through the spirit of the ancient princess of the prophecy or as Hylia. In that sense the same happens to link with the spirit arm, and or it’s up to us to help Zelda resurrect as one of the above, or that’s Zelda’s story in the background and she is helped by others just like impa did in skyward.
(Damn dude why always the long ass comments 🤣🤣
my bad 😁✌️)
Did you forget that we talk to 5 different spirits in BOTW?
She doesn't need to be alive to say this.
It's this tiresome child logic again, where people are speculating on watered down "death" of impermanent fictional characters as if it meant absolutely bugger all. The flaccid theme of "going away" or getting captured or whatever is ALWAYS a part of these stories.
Especially if they're so shallowly written, that they have to make these suggestions of grand life events because their slope-headed audience cannot follow a plot point if it's ANY more subtle than that. And in fairness, they can't actually FOLLOW that either, it's jsut that the word death is kinda superficially spooky even to a person who is completely detached from the reality of it. Same shizz with sonic frontiers.
@@gregpl9363 According to the japanese version of the trailer when Zelda says "please lend him your power" she's talking to a *single* person. Seeing as the closest candidate is the arm itself (as it fuses with Link's right arm to save his life) it's clear that this dialogue is her pleading to it so that they may assist Link in the Quest ahead. Hylia would never need a Zelda to come along and ask for her help given she's ALREADY helping Link with all Goddess Statues spread across Hyrule.
Nobody:
Zelda: Fly, you fools.
.
there was a post on the switch talking about the BOTW sale going out soon. I looked at it and the description of the Scavenge for Survival heading said: Cook meals, find outfits, and forge weapons to survive the wilderness. In BOTW we cooked meals and found outfits. but forged weapons? i don’t remember that. I think this could be some sort of description of TOTK that some how made it way in that description of BOTW. This could support the theory and hopes of forging weapons in TOTK. i really hope so.
Great video! Playing BOTW last night, I realised that the Sky islands are referred to in the game, so we’re always planned!
When you do a side quest at one of the stables, tying octo baloons to barrels. The child refers to the people that lived in the sky
My main worry isn’t for Zelda’s safety, I’m certain she’ll be fine by the end of the story, I’m worried about the possibility it will be like Spirit Tracks, and that Zelda will be resigned to being a spirit companion or something. My biggest wish for TotK is still that Zelda will be playable, without any asterisks attached.
I wouldn’t expect what we have never gotten, and I wouldn’t be disappointed if don’t get what we shouldn’t expect. Sorry if that sounded like a riddle haha
@@WideMouth No, I get it, that’s why I called it a wish. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelda wasn’t playable, just a bit disappointed. Though BotW’s big thing was breaking series conventions, so I wouldn’t be so certain that looking at past games will be that helpful at predicting what TotK will be like.
@@akakay0131 Fair point. But it does look like they’re already breaking conventions in other ways, like featuring multiple layers to the overworld, reusing the same world from a previous game, customizable vehicles and contraptions, and new abilities like reversing time on objects. I do think Zelda being playable is more likely here than in past games, but I think there’s already enough new stuff here to satisfy me if it doesn’t end up happening.
@@WideMouth I feel the same. A playable Zelda isn’t something that I’m hinging my enjoyment of TotK on, it’d just be the cherry on top.
@@akakay0131 I just can't see it meshing with the game design. It's very clear that Nintendo wants to maintain the freedom and non-linear progression that botw had. I just can't see that happening if zelda is playable, it would require limiting the players freedom which they seem very against. At the very least there would be an awkward mechanic to switch between the two. I just don't see it functioning mechanically which is usually where Nintendo focuses their development. But who knows, they've pulled of some incredible stuff in the past, so there's still a chance.
I was thinking that the game could open similarly to how Banjo-Tooie opened, with text on the screen explaining that the exact same amount of time had passed in the game's world as had in between the release of the two games in real life.
so, there would be a six year gap
@@allenking6268 five year
8:47 I think that figure IS zelda....technically, I think it is her body but like the soul of spirit or mind of Hylia has taken over....like two souls sharing a body, one mind taps out when the other takes control
Possible; I like to look at it more like they are ultimately one and the same even though they, for a time, have separate existences in different "worlds". Zelda is a mortal emanation or avatar, while Hylia represents her continuous potential at the divine level. What we see here may be the two becoming fully one, so to Zelda it's just like suddenly realizing who she really is, like waking up from amnesia, or recovering memories of a past life.
oh i really hope we get to play as zelda though i would really like to not be limited to small story only segments, but rather a full choice between link or zelda once reuinited, maybe first you're link for a bit, and then zelda for a bit and then you reuinite and you can choose who to be whenever you desire, maybe you need some shieka tech to solve a puzzle, or zonai tech for it and you gotta swap for said puzzle but mostly the choice is yours overall, that'd be the ideal way i could imagine it.
Amazing video ! Can't wait to know if Zelda will be playable. I was kind of skeptical at first but now I think it could be a very exciting new feature !
This is a very interesting theory and I'm really curious about Zeldas story in TotK. Regarding the survey, I got it as well and it was indeed from Nintendo themselves. Anyways, I like the idea of Zelda having her own journey to reconnect with Hylia and I really hope Nintendo won't just give her a little bit of lore and then show her at the end of the game like in BotW. I would prefer if she had an active role in the story this time around and we get to witness her point of view. Can't wait to play the game and I'm really hyped to know what story we will get.
While reconnecting with Hylia is interesting thing to see, my only concern is Zelda. I mean, she has been through alot for the past 100 years and she dreams of being a scholar. I do not want that part of her character be removed.
@@a.jthomas6132 True I agree. I loved that this Zelda had dreams and plans of her own and wasn't just 'the princess with magic' and nothing else. She actually had a complex character and I would love to explore that side of her more.
I think that pale figure touching the hand of what looks like BOTW Link is really the Link and Zelda of 10,000 years ago or even before that...Maybe that Link was a member of the Zonai tribe... perhaps he stayed underground with Ganondorf to keep him there while Zelda and everyone prepared for his eventual return.
Fantastic work! Thanks men!!
I sure hope she doesn't die, or at least not in the way a character is simply off'd when there is no more need of a character in other shows, and what not. I do hope she's playable. I'm super excited to see what ends up happening. Thanks for the video
Another thing to mention. Zelda dying would certainly be a major story spoiler right? Do you really think Nintendo would outright show it to us in trailers? That'd be like if the BOTW trailers showed Link's death. I think the likelihood of it being a red herring or a temporary death kinda scenario is much more likely
There's a scene where the ethereal green arm catches Link. Assuming Zelda's fall into the void takes place in reality and not a dream nor memory, It's possible that, as Link jumps to catch Zelda, the green arm catches Link, resulting in Zelda continuing to fall. It's worth noting that the initial distance between Zelda and Link is about an arms reach when they're both shown clearly falling, but she continues to free fall alone into the void.
I think that in the same way that BOTW is a reimagined LoZ (1), TotK is a reimagined Adventure of Link, but starting at the end. I think Ganondorf is reincarnated using Links blood at the very start of the game, and during the subsequent fight Zelda falls and dies. Some magic/lore stuff happens, and the earth rends. Then your task is to collect the tears of the kingdom, which will allow you to return in time to prevent Ganondorf's resurrection and Zelda's death. The twist is that you accomplish this by fighting your past self - preventing your blood from being spilled on Ganon. In the end Link and Zelda precieve you to be Dark Link (final boss of AoL), but really this is like a necessary self-sacrifice, the green dragon eating itself forever.
I think "Tears of the kingdom" is referring to the malice dripping from the floating castle "tears of the castle or kingdom referring to the other floating islands.
My theory is that link has to use his "reverse time" ability to safe Zelda from falling down, which would explain why her hand is soaring up to Links right arm. Yet it wouldn't make sense because this arm hasn't absorbed the green energy yet, but I think they changed this detail of the cutscene since then, just how they changed the Bokoblins horns.
I really hope all the horns arnt made of weapons but maybe will be able to craft certain weapons using the parts on there heads
So one thing I realised yesterday is that Hylia and demise seem less like gods of good and evil and more like Lesser gods of power and wisdom.
This gave me the thought that if Zelda and Ganon are avatars of Demise and Hylia, Then who is Link the avatar of?
There must be a lesser god of courage that has never revealed itself or we the player ourselves are the god of courage since we play Link
13:55
Visual: ToK's underground.
Music: Elden Ring's underground.
My brain: "It reminds me of Skyrim's underground."
I don’t think Hylia would let her die like that. Plus she can probably use her power to be ok idk. Not trying to cope but I don’t think they would kill her off like that.
There's also the point of form; if those flames are just like the ones in TP, then what's to stop Link from changing into one upon entering the underworld? While it's possible the arm serves as a shield from this effect much like the Triforce of Courage did (to a lesser degree) its also possible that it doesn't and Zelda is fully protected from this effect either by having fully awakened to her powers as Hylia Incarnate or by possibly containing the entire Triforce within her.
If she dies, she will come back. They won't kill off Zelda's bloodline in the Zelda series
Tbh yeah but it's possible
Ganondorf has always needed her alive to fulfill his plans guys. ¿What are the odds he would want to kill her right away instead of keeping her locked up somewhere until the time is right to "use her powers" or steal her "lifeforce" or use her as a key to active something. Ganondorf NEEDS Zelda for his plans to succeed so it's very unlikely he'll take her life mere moments from meeting her face to face.
Right - I feel like if they did intend to kill Zelda, the game would be rated “T” since there would be a “major character death,” not E10+… then again, I don’t review or develop games, so I could be wrong
Tears of the Kingdom seems like it has a lot of references to Skyward Sword. I’m getting chills just from watching this video, and I’m sure I’ll cry when the game gets released.😄
12:29 looks to me like one of Purah's inventions. Maybe a Purah invented sheikah slate? Purah's headband/bow features a nearly identical lens of truth.
In purah's journal in botw she mentions that she made a replica of the the sheikah slate so this make a lot of sense.
Somehow I don't believe that it starts with them already underground. I believe they start in Hyrule castle or went to the Great Plateau and discovered that there is an area hinted in BotW and then venture to the underground. I also think after she falls into the river of malice she becomes corrupted but the power she no longer felt reawakens.
By Hylia She better not.....not after all the trouble.
By the way, them changing Zelda’s hair to short and bunched up would make sense from a programming perspective.
Making player character animations for long flowing hair is absurdly hard as demonstrated by the Horizon team.
I don't think we can compare a game with photorealistic hair cards with one having stylized meshes hair in terms of animation for a playable character (look at Age of Calamity they did a playable long haired Zelda). So I can agree with you but just for Horizon tho. It wouldn't be a real issue with Zelda.
@@MrDidox2555 And I’m not sure AoC is comparable to a BotW game in terms of physics requirements. And either way, AoC had to have a long haired Zelda, TotK doesn’t.
Another thing to mention is that time-reversal ability we saw in the E3 2021 trailer. It's golden glow suggests something more like Zelda's sealing power than Link's green Zonai power, which could point to some combination of their powers later down the line when they join back up. If you've played the new God of War games, it made me think of something like Atreus' arrow abilities/Freya's sigils when I remembered it after seeing the newest trailer. So far, its unexplained, and now that we've seen more of Link's arm and what it can do, it seems more out of place than before. I actually made a theory about this exact topic on Reddit, like, seven minutes before this video dropped, so I'm glad to see that I'm not crazy. Great video, as always.
it's just totk's version of the stasis ability. that's why it's yellow.
Wow, I smell some major DLC coming our way. Great video!
She falls down into Termina. The game is darker than Majora's Mask and more confusing if our protagonist is dead or not.
Zelda playable is a dream for us players and the devs since 2011... So it might as well happen now, because of this big teasing they are doing. If it doesn't happen now, we might have to wait another 10+ years for a chance. So I'm putting my hopes up!
It really would be interesting if there was a part to play as Zelda…
To be honest, I don’t like when people complain about “Not being able to chose” since the focus is on Link saving Zelda, but TotK seems to be s league of its own… It does feel like you could have a part that you play as Zelda… and we do see online functionality on the case. Truly is interesting, to say the least.
When she falls you can see some yellow particles around her. These look like the same ones that take link to fight dark beast ganon in botw. My theory is she didn’t die but rather was teleported by someone (perhaps a guardian angel of sorts)
Zeltik uploading with TotK so close is such a serotonin boost keep up the amazing work man!!!
I think the reason why they choose to cut Zelda's hair short is because long hair would be difficult to animate as a player character! Can't wait to see
I mean they animated it in Hyrule Warriors.
I worked a bunch with archeologists and let me tell you most women there either have short cut hair or braided/bun. Reason being simple. If you're expected to climb around in a dusty, dirty place hair gets in the way.
I think Zelda cutting her hair short makes perfect sense. Especially since whatever exploration she's doing is way more active then the example I gave above. Having long wavy hair would be a massive hindrance.
@@mariustan9275 Yeah but she had like 3 outfits. Short hair is easier to work with for making outfits because long hair usually causes clipping issues and short hair is easier to design around.
Yes!! This is exactly what I've been thinking! Her super long hair would probably result in clipping, unless they fixed it for this sequel. We can hope!
@@SpiritHunterDSG K makes sense. Plus there the model was smaller on screen.
Always go to you for Zelda info. Others get some other theories they just make me think twice
The first segment about the name kinda makes sense… except that Zelda was already presumed dead all throughout the previous 100 years before botw takes place. The whole thing with the naming being based on the kingdom mourning her passing seems a bit redundant considering she was already thought dead along with much of the rest of the kingdom
personally, i don't think zelda is dead, but it would be a great twist in the series that i certainly wouldn't be opposed to. it'd be different, but different isn't always a bad thing! nonetheless, i'm very excited and curious, to find out when totk releases. so many questions and theories waiting to be answered. :)
There can be many twists but Zelda dying wouldn't precisely be good, we're talking about Zelda here, so yes, I would be opposed to this one, it's Zelda after all, you can't just kill Zelda, her death wouldn't make any sense, it's "The legend of Zelda", and you need her as well as you need Link, the world can not be saved without this two, and besides the sentence "But Link, I am not sure you'll be able to stop him" clearly has to be said after that great disgrace that happens at the castle and after Ganondorf awakes and after the fall of Zelda because of what the sentence itself is saying, it wouldn't make sense otherwise, it's clearly after everything goes to hell so Zelda has to be alive, so or it is Zelda speaking face to face with Link or it is Zelda in his head.
Besides it's not like Zelda hasn't endured tragedies and near death experiences in other games, it's just that here it is shown to us in a trailer and left in a kind of cliffhanger without revealing to us what happens next and what happens in general with Zelda, so our minds run wild with theories and all kind of speculations and possibilities without even having any kind of real information
@@doloresgronenberg5882 People need to remember that Zelda's death will greatly depend on what Ganondorf would gain from killing her on the spot instead of keeping her alive "somewhere" to fulfill his plans. Just because we see her falling that does not suddenly mean she'll hit rock bottom and die on impact when she literally has magic powers to soften her fall and save herself from fatal injuries. As long as Ganondorf NEEDS her to fuel his plans she'll be safe from any lasting harm.
Zelda has the triforce of wisdom and no one brings it up, if she dies the triforce of wisdom well have a new chosen or ganondolf has both triforce of power and wisdom
She has the full triforce actually.
@@tumultuousv could be possible but in the latest trailer we see link with the triforce of courage so i though the triforce split now that ganondolf is alive and present and the soul owner of the triforce of power
@@KingDennyFrost it might split since ganondorf is alive (I doubt it cuz he doesn't always just get the triforce of power out of nowhere) but where does it shown link having the triforce of courage. Haven't seen that at all
@@tumultuousv i had to double check but you can see the triforce of courage in links right palm when he puts the damaged master sword of the green magic. I had to look for it, its the 3rd trailer that revealed the delay and release date of spring 2023
@@KingDennyFrost that's not the triforce. Looks completely different. I've seen many discussions about this. Pretty sure zeltik made a video about that fact as well.
I think Totk closes the circle of the Zelda Lore, ending up in Skyloft meeting Hylia.
You should make a video explaining the whole Zelda timeline cuz that would be way more helpful than me reading timelines online and having no idea what it means
separate topic... but, ganon's voice in the trailer... doesnt sound like the kind of voice i'd excpect from a mummified corpse... heres hoping for hydrated ganon! 😍
Glad you are finally doing this breakdown. Zelda will live in the end after Link finally comes back in time to save her and stop the Tears of the Kingdom.
8:02 I would call into question whether this hand is actually Link's and does not rather belong to whoever was sealing Ganondorf and the original owner of this arm. I think that perhaps what we're watching here is this person answering Zelda's plea to lend Link their power. Which might make sense, I mean I doubt they're still alive in any normal sense, so Zelda talking to them on a spiritual plane or something after falling might check out.
^ This right here. It's very likely this green arm belongs to the "rabbit figure" from the mural who's arm (and possibly spirit) was used as a seal to contain Ganondorf's body for tens of thousands of years. The scene of the arm holding hands with a female figure could be the Link and Zelda from 10.000 years ago who first sealed the Calamity with the arm's help.
This may be somewhat unrelated, but I am very happy to see that the Zonai will be expanded upon during this game. One of my favorite things post BOTW on RUclips was all of the theory-crafting videos behind the identity of the Zonai tribe. Glad that Nintendo is going to be emphasizing on their importance in TOTK.
I feel Zelda will have more of a role than in any previous Zelda game. The picture of her with her own Sheikha slate, it gives me the feeling she will be low-level involved lol. My husband thinks she'll possibly be involved in some puzzle solving with he slate, or something where she's not playable, but she can help you in tasks? But I'd love her to be playable. My daughter would too. But we'll see.
She won't die. They wouldn't even give us a legit prequel game where Link kindof dies. She is really powerful, and she stayed alive this long. I highly doubt a fall is enough to finish her off. The Tears probably refer to tears of light or something that Link has to fetch to repair the master sword. We've seen Zelda fall from great height before, and she didn't die.
Nice Video. But I find it interesting that in the recent trailer in the ultra short clip clip with the white dressed figure is movement in the background. Some sort of pedestal or fountain and left and right huge beiings or machinery that moves with ornaments resemblings some of the carvings. No one adresses this.
When it finally hits you the ridges on the logo that make up the back of the two dragons are tire treads...
Considering that Zelda is the reincarnation of Hylia and her sealing powers didn't fully awaken it could be a good theory,
maybe it's something to do with her destiny in some way or another?
Not reincarnation but *descendant.*
