Small tip, when you solder stranded wires with holders, heat the wire from the underside and add solder to the top side, that will make the solder wick down into the strands more thoroughly.
How interesting! An inductive slip ring!!! Such a simple idea, yet so functional! Honestly this is the first time I have ever seen such a thing, Mind blown!!!
Back in the 90's I saw a big one of these. It was like a stack of pancakes 4 feet tall and 5 foot radius (about 10 feet wide). So the display was a big curved surface on the side. That also kept people away from this big spinning arm with the LEDS. This is a very cool project!👍

That's cool and all, but without an RTC chip, that thing isn't going to keep accurate time, and without any buttons or wifi, you'll have to keep reconnecting it to a computer via USB to re-adjust the time.
Attenzione. Nello schema e sul PCB il sensore di Hall ha i pin 1 e 3 invertiti. Attention. In the schematic and on the PCB, the Hall sensor has pins 1 and 3 reversed.
That must have been a lot of work to get that all balanced! :-) That is so innovative how you use the coils to provide power rather than a high friction rotary contact. I am liking this more and more!!

How about making one that can disply images, like a bottle of hot sauce for a store? The bottle spins, flips and what ever to get people to buy it. Maybe using a programmable RGB light strip and arduino. PM me if you make it. Thanks
Interesting project - But I wish you were more complete as to the parts list. You have not listed all the components, especially the magnet, the hall sensor, the motor, and the collar that attaches the board to the motor.
It's an inductor. Power is supplied to the bottom coil. That creates a magnetic field. That magnetic field is "picked up" by the upper coil and that "induces" current. This is the basic function of an electric motor, but instead of a 2nd coil, there are magnets. The rotor (the thing that spins) in an electric motor has a bunch of wires wrapped around it. Electricity is supplied to those wires, and it makes a magnetic field around the rotor. In the body of the motor there are fixed magnets which repel the magnetic field created from the coils. They are positioned in such a way so that the magnets keep "pushing" the rotor, which makes the rotor spin.
They used to be really popular back in the day. I remember seeing them through every store window. Guessing they fell out of fashion. Look on ebay, you may be able to find a cheap enough one. If my experience applies to the US too that is
Two tips for when you're assembling it yourself: 1.) Use screws instead of hot glue. Much sturdier. 2.) *FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY* don't solder like this guy. You heat both the pin and the pad and apply solder to it. Do not make a glob of solder on your iron and then try to stick it onto your pin - all you do is ruin the soldering iron
In total, I counted $126 + work. There is still no case and a question about the noise of the operation and engine rpm, that is, the reliability of this watch? I want to make a remark, the Chinese Aliexpress (from which the fee is paid) will bring you a much more beautiful plane for such money. 😅
hi there peeps. one question for ya. if you put a red led under a bleu led. instead of next to it. will the colors blend ? and with what rotation speed and mounting distance in correlation toowards that speed ? (singing for you a jollu good fellow...)
So it looks like the thing in the middle is an induction 5v supply, but I don't see any data lines. The sensor on the side of the board seems to be sensing a pass and thus is a timing element for the display. So you would have to somehow set the arduino's time and it is taking care of updating it? Any reason why not to just solder the 5v wires into the through hole? instead of on top of it.
I bet it's really noisy how fast does it spin? wouldn't it be better just to have around board with all the leds close to each other and do it electronically.
