    11 days before Dallas. I read once that they had shown some of this footage, including JFK with the horse, to the Democratic Convention audience in 1964 prior to his brother Robert Kennedy appearing to make a speech. I cannot imagine how heartrending that was.

    After the assassination,Jackie was going thru JFK's wardrobe and found those pants. They still had some sugar cubes in the pocket. Heartbreaking.

      it's sad about john jr also as a little boy growing up to fly planes. his death was so tragic also i remember listening on tv about it.

    Such poignant films. Thank you so much for sharing these. They have the power of simultaneously giving joy and melancholy at the same time. It looks like they were experiencing Indian summer like weather that weekend and figuratively the Nation was experiencing it as well but no one imagined the coming dark deed that was just over a week away.

    I remember when I was a teen I could jump like that!! This was the last weekend before the Tx trip.
    John Jr.was practicing his proper saluting this weekend. Pics of Jaquline showing him..

      I read she was surprised when she saw how perfectly he saluted at the funeral because his salutes had always been kind of "sloppy" and funny, as you'd expect from a 2 yr old.

    What a joy to watch, I almost feel like I am a voyeur. Jon Jon sure loved that cocker spaniel :)) I saw not too long ago I believe this home was for sale. Saw it on a real estate show. How heartbreaking that such a piece of history didn't remain in the family.

      I would buy that house in a heartbeat if I had the cash. History. If it is in the same condition as then, no modification would ever be allowed. Must remain exactly as then.

    His tan still showed in Dallas. In fact a newsman commented on it when they landed in Love Field. He said “I can see his suntan all the way from here”. So heartbreaking 💔

    Although tragic, jackie lived an extraordinary life, first lady, came from a family of privlefge, married to one of the richest men in the world, it was bitter sweet, never poor, she lived an abundant life

    Jackie was an amazing rider. Very in sync with her horse. Starting at 3:50 she kicked in the afterburners!
    Very bittersweet offering.

      she got thrown off plenty of times due to reporters springing up behind bushes and logs and snapping photos, scaring the death out of the horse and throwing Jackie right off Jackie would just get up every time and shrug it off like nothing happened
      Because of how experienced a rider Jackie was, it basically was like nothing had happened

      If you see interview in 1995 JFK jr with Larry king about his father. He remberred About father but not much..

      According to bios President Kennedy was allergic to horses so that could be the reason why he was never seen riding. But Ted Kennedy said he tried, often in vain, to get up early enough in the morning when he was young so he could ride with his father Ambassador Joe Kennedy.

    It's really heart-wrenching (in addition to every other heart-wrenching aspect of this footage) that Jack couldn't be out on horseback with his wife and kids out there; his back just made it far too excruciating

    I do love seeing these tributes but at same time, it feels very intrusive - I suppose, if they didn't want them out there to be seen, then they wouldn't be and it clearly shows a real family, unlike what we see in todays in the somewhat bizarre theatre of politics!

    The horse knew is the grand finale . if this horse was at Dallas inline with Motorparade it would have step forward to save him .on the 11th day I am sure that afternoon when his 💓 stop the horse must have felt the heart thug.
