Politricks Watch sent me here too. As a man in my mid fifties this song is eerily familiar. This song seems like one of those gems that was the inspiration for something that turned big. Regarding Baby Cham's song, if all the proper protocols were not followed we would have heard about the lawsuit from the estate of Hugh Mike for sure.

Inspired? They stole the man song and try to hide it! I have never hear Baby Cham mention this artist name he n Dave Kelly act like this song was written from scratch. I am inspired by some one in every chance I get I would try to recognized that person. Please answer this question because it is very important to me. Have u ever hear Baby Cham or Dave Kelly mention Hugh Mike’s name ?

Sir P, you are the general. You are an educated, intelligent and bright fellow. Do not pay this clown Vegas any mind. We have so much more important ideas to discuss over here. As to the music, Hugh mike nuh sound bad at all. It's just a pity he did not have much more success in the music business. Sir P keep up the great work. Good research by Sir P, what the Jamaican people needs to know is that back in the 80’s a lot of songs were produced dailey, some released some didn’t. Not bcauz it’s the first time you hearing it doesn’t mean it wasn’t recorded.

Jah know star Sir P Powerful, him send mi over yah. Didn’t know of this track until now, good voice and good flow. RIP mikes, your name still sounding thanks to Sir P. He really should send more people to songs like thee and help to elevate this type of artist. Ghetto Story made some dollars I’m sure because even Alicia Keyes jumped on the remix. Cham used only a few words from Mikes song but he did use quite a bit of the melody so the owners of his track does have a case for getting something from the proceeds.
It goes beyond the melody. The structure and repetition is very similar. That repetition of I remember those days, etc. shows that Dave Kelly and Sham ripped this song off and should be paying royalties to High Mike’s people.
@@karltokio If it was properly copyrighted, there has to be royalties being payed; if not, it maybe the producer of this song is getting all the royalties, for they use to trick the artists or buy the song from the artist, then copyright as their own. Hence why there is so much litigation with some of the artists who are now trying to get what is rightly there’s.

💎💎💎dancehall artist masters of word play. Cham took it and made a classic. Long live dancehall culture. The music from the ghetto soul.
Sham didn't copy any of the thoughts. He just took the melody. This is a regular occurrence in music.
That mean Cham needs to pay the original writer of the melody his royalties. A melody is more recognisable and easier to defend in copyright laws.
Not just the melody, both concepts similar 'memories'.
It goes beyond the melody. The structure and repetition is very similar. That repetition of I remember those days, etc. shows that Dave Kelly and Sham ripped this song off and should be paying royalties to High Mike’s people.
