Isn’t it better to use adhesive and battons rather than clout nails?

Is it poss to use evostik or adhesive for EDPM roofing or just the high performance (bitumen) felt adhesive (to prevent wind uplift & general creep movement) instead of clout nails to avoid puncturing holes thru the felt?

I would give it a try.Do a tasty patch on the materials to test its adhesive properties 👍🇬🇧

Make sure the part you nail is the part where the bitumen has been painted onto the roof. The bitumen will seal the hole you punch through the wood and felt if you laid down a thick enough bead. It will also resist weathering better in the future.
Before you applying bitumen however, give it a coat of cuprinol so that if the felt fails, the wood has a backup line of defense. When the felt fails you may not notice and that cuprinol will give you time before the wood is compromised.

Not sure about the last row of nails going through the waterproofing you've just fitted. Surely the adhesive alone would hold the capping felt in place?

100% mine is leaking because of it

@@4rawgnas put some of the adhesive over the nails, without the nails over time the adhesive will harden and brake down, eventually wind will blow underneath it and the felt would blow off, without the nails.
