i think talent has very little to do with your drawing skills. and i think everyone can draw they just need to be patient and willing to learn.
I agree! all talent does is just help you learn or pick up stuff faster
Talent is definitely more of having a good "headstart", at the end of the day if you dont put in the work it's useless. Hardwork beats talent
Im a really slow learner in literally anything I do
Especially in art this makes me want to give up
@@fugosfork7907 To see your own growth, compare your new drawings to your older ones. Like ie. I'm used to thinking that I'm still quite bad compared to other great artists but when I see how I draw now and how I was drawing like 1 or 2 months ago, there's actually a visible improvement and it makes me happy. Try this too, it will make you feel better and you'll realize how much you really learned.
@@cynxmanga thank you for the tip :D
I think talent is a factor in art, but it is definitely used more so by people trying to blame something other than lack of effort for the difference between them and a skilled artist
FACTS! you said that perfectly!
A little late to comment on this video, but I used to draw a lot as a kid but, as i got older and stopped, I lost a lot of what I knew how to do. I'm now relearning everything but since I'm a older now it's taking me longer to figure things out. I was thinking about quitting because of this exact question, but this gives me a bit of hope. I enjoy drawing, but since I think I might just be the hard working artist maybe I'll keep grinding. Thank you for the video!
Leetssss goooo! I love your video DD Mark! I was thinking about this too. I was a person who all his life just "knew" he cannot draw. But these past months I learned the same realization you did.
One day I was just like, "fuck it, I don’t got talent but I will be master!", from there I just grinded and along the way I kept suprising myself.
I went from someone who CAN'T DRAW to someone who HAVE TO DRAW.
I always feel unstoppable everytime I watch your videos and I always will support ya!
thats awesome! im glad you decided to go for it even though you thought you might not be capable. that's admirable asf
Dd, I started drawing a little over a year ago during school (for a girl to have something in common with them 😑😑), and it has changed my life so much, not only from the enjoyment and satisfaction it brings me, or the purpose it brings me, it goes beyond that, because even though I have parted ways with most people from last year, I still bring a sense of art to the world, and my eyes see thing differently, from the smallest artist to the most dedicated, anyone can learn art, and even just the smallest attempt and laziest piece, can change your life.
Thats awesome! im so happy for you!
p.s thats funny that the reason you started in the first place was to impress a girl lol
Bruh, in the art work hardwork is talent.... No matter how talented you are you'll never get good if you're not relentless enough
FACCCCCCTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSS
I started on my journey this time last year and couldn't draw AT ALL but I had drive and confidence and a good story all written out, fast forward to now after months and months of practising the basics I'm halfway through drawing my first manga volume through wouldnt have been able to do it without consistency and VIDS LIKE YOURS BRO! You've helped me out a lot man, God bless you in all you do!
AWWWW TYSM!!! and im so happy for you! keep going!
Feels good to hear your voice again
Ayeeeee Thank youuuu!

@@ddmarkk btw, big fan of your art. Been here since your second video I believe.
I also simp for chef Gusto
Chef Gusteau is Dad
Hello DD Markk. I love your journey. Do you draw with music in background and if it is the case how do you actually get to quickly start drawing instead of searching for hours for a music ?
use man scape cause you wana be a man right so use man scape,be a man.hey ddmarck i love your videos keep goin
Hey do you ever draw on paper?
True
Yurrrr
To go off of whether you-DDMark- are talented or hardworking, i dont think its talent. Because while its true that on average, you may have picked things up over a shorter period of time, im also fairly positive that you put a lot more time into practice than the average person. You also had a lot of stresses that pushed on you and basically told you to either be a good artist or starve so not much of a choice there. Like i consider myself a very talented artist, im very good at it and i pick up new skills quickly but im just devoid of most motivation so the talent feels wasted on someone who cant appreciate it, yk?
i know exactly what you mean but dont put yourself down like that lol. your talent isnt wasted on you! and thank you for your analysis of me and my skill i appreciate it. it makes me sound like an anime protagonist HAHA
but im happy becuase i read this comment :)
@@ddmarkk shit lol i definitely sounded self deprecating in that comment, i only say its wasted because i dont spend much effort on drawing, i mostly spend my time in school, the gym, work, or asleep, i rarely have free time to draw and if i do, im tired and uninspired. That being said i have a lot of talent with it
I am not talented but i want to draw like tatsuki fujimoto
go for it! i believe in you!

Two great quotes was actually said here 1 your only limit is your soul" (Chef Gusteau) and 2 "hard work will always beat talent when talent doesn't work hard enough " 👏 also wasn't expecting that epic seven animated snippet, that one threw me off lol
HAHAH thank you so much! p.s sorry that the snippet threw you off lol
@@ddmarkk haha all good, I'm a big e7 fan so seeing it was a good surprised 😅 one of the mobile games I play alot
OK so not to be a douche but the answer to this question is obviously yes. Drawing is a skill not a talent, No one popped out of the womb being able to draw like Alex Ross, The only time talent comes close to playing a factor in anything related to art Is when it comes to the specific manner in which the artist carries out their technical ability. A good example is Kim Jim Gi, The only reason he was able to draw like that was because he had An almost unnatural ability to remember anything.
HAHAH nothing douchey about that. i literally said almost the same thing in the video
Anyone can draw in life it just take time I have to remind my self of that cause sometime I think I am wasting time and I need to get better fast but yeah it takes times ⏲
factssssss. it does take time
My favourite artist is the creator of Tower of God, SIU, for one simple reason... we see his entire 12 year art journey. The art in chapter one compared to now is outstanding and you can visually see his improvement and hard work compared to other artist that started out good and just became better. Currygom, the creator of Kubera is another example of an untalented artist drastically improving over time. That's really the key.. time. I started my art journey nearly two years ago. I always liked drawing but I decided to properly learn, and thanks to tutorials from Akihito Yoshitomi, Marc Brunet, etc, and with a lot of practice I've improved. How good someone will become in any skill just depends on how much work they're willing put into it and how quick they are to understand what they're learning.
This video is my exact belief. In fact, I am someone who has been told multiple times that they can't draw. Rather than just take it, my hidden abilities (as I like to call it) driven me to be like "Eff what you got to say" and continued drawing.
It kinda took me about 8 years to get good. I'd say better as my skills are still lacking. I know for a fact that I'm not talented, but I know that I tend to learn things fast. Not just art things, anything.
Thats awesome! i love how you shut out the Nay-Sayers
keep going :)
@@ddmarkk thanks
i am still slightly disappointed at my 7 month progress, but considering i had almost no talent in drawing beforehand, it motivates me soo much
YURRR DONT GIVE UP! everyone's journey is different !
Can you make a video how to draw clothes and shoes because shoes is kinda complicated
fo sho! one day!
and yus lol, shoes are complicated
Hey DD Mark, have you ever thought of doing a video where you review your old art and talk about either where you were in your art journey or what types of techniques you were learning/practicing at the time. Or even if you could pinpoint a drawing where you were like “Dang, I’m pretty good at this art thing”.
Love the vids and podcast man. Keep up the good work!
TYSM! and YUSSSSSSS i will do a video where i do that sooner than you think :)
This man’s mental health is inspiring 😂
saludos desde puerto rico
Putting Gendo on the thumbnail of a video discussing potential failure is cruel.
HAHAHAH im sorry but it was perfect
I talked to one of my teachers about art and she told me that she thought art was something that has to be natural to someone for this person to become an artist, and honestly I didn't agree, I see talent as being a sort of ability which you have, a facility in doing some things while others as you said have to workhard for it, reminds me of the tale of the turtle and the rabbit to be honest, the turtle worked hard to come to where he stands while the rabbit is the talented one with the ability.
Yessir banger as always🔥🔥 Seen this on Patreon but I'm probably gonna rewatch all your vids while I draw😂💯btw I've probably rewatched all your vids 3+ times :)
AYYEEE TYSM! I Appreciate that!
I keep hearing you say Joe you show us Joe, but I can’t see John? Why won’t you show us John?!😂😂🤣🤣 Same, I’m good at drawing but I want to be good at animation. It takes me longer to tackle animation more than my peers.
Good video! I love your art! Keep it up!
I believe that all can draw but
Can handwriting effect drawing 🤔🇳🇬
hawtdawg
yes :)
W ratatouille ref
IKR!
8 years of drawing and still find it hard to draw hands and perspective
had to click immediately
YURRRR
I guess.. :^)
:)
Does anyone know the anime in 3:17
I want to be better at art but I lack the motivation + physical problems with my hands brings it down even more.
damn. keep ya head up and only worry about things you can control. also dont give up, but dont push yourself too hard, your health still comes first
I been waiting all day for to post. But yk i started my manga today (only the cover so far) but after watching this i prob should put more hard work into my drawing skills first before i start
You should! and dont forget to have fun :)
🖤🖤
🖤🖤🖤🖤
DD mark your one of the best art RUclipsrs, you can draw 100 times better then I can your so cool.
AWWWWWW TYSMMM!! :)
Dd, your simping had switched from yuske to fujimoto 😂😭😭
LMFAO I simp for both now HAHAHA
Depends on what the goal is. If you have no imagination or talent to see into the mind and heart then making comics is not gonna bring you any fruit. But you may be great at recreating images from life which a more imagination based artist wouldn't enjoy or be great at
Thanks for the video man. I really needed to hear this I have no talent and was told so ever since I was 12. Gave up on art came back to it worked hard to get better. I have improved but often questioned if I could ever reach the next level this has given me a new perspective.
almost at 30k sub
So close! IKR
DD Gusteu Mark
YUSSSSSURRR!
As someone studying art for like 8 years with zero improvement I'd say some people legit can't draw. it doesn't seem like i'd ever get it no matter how much i practiced.
If you studied art for 8 years and saw zero improvement then either you didn’t study what you needed to study properly or Art just isn’t meant for you man.
I recommend picking up the book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” by Betty Edward. It’s helped a lot of people who didn’t believe they can draw do what they thought would never be possible. I’m reading it right now and it’s pretty good. Doing the exercises in the book is key.
maybe its more the way you're going about practicing rather than how long you've been doing it. maybe in these past 8 years. you mightve been practicing the "wrong" way. i genuinely think people, for the most part, can draw if they choose to dedicate themselves to it
Some of the most talented people I've trained and worked with are NOT the hardest workers because they don't have to be. Sad, but true.
any tips for getting started with drawing ?
