82mm filter - really nicely filmed and edited video- this filter looks like the real deal and the hard stop would be a godsend. Thanks for uploading another quality video.
I am the first person to comment. Your channel has helped me immensely. I am a small time wedding photographer and videographer and I like the 72 mm ND Filter, as you suggested, one can use step up rings. I purchased inexpensive 4 stop ND Filter from Kenko, lots of green cast and the clips are unusable. Great review
Thanks for the video! Would love to see a review of the non-"true color" Nisi 5-9 stop version also to see the differences, since they do not have a 5-9 stop true color version right now. 82mm
Looks like a solid choice! As the three months of summer - and hopefully sun - we get here in the north of Sweden is fast approaching I could use a varable ND-filter. 72 mm preferred.
I'm using VND with those black mist on it and sometimes it makes a specific clip too dreamy or soft. This would be an excellent alternative when the project does require a quick turnaround with low or no color correcting due to the VND filter. Pairing it with the RevoRing, makes it a quick application to any lens that I use. 82mm filter will be the perfect size!
Thanks for the review of this filter. Was only recently considering the Nisi ND 1-5 and may well invest in one soon. If I get the 82mm it will be good for all my lenses.
I’d like 77mm version of the nisi filters, currently own the old nisi vnd’s which are alright in comparison to their competitors but still nothing like you showed us here. Great video as always, keep it up! 👍🏻
I was just experimenting with Tiffen vari-ND filter a few days ago, because a lot of reviews recommended them. However, it has a strong warm/green cast, not difficult to fix in post but nevertheless not pleasant while filming. It would be great to win this NiSi True Color filter, especially because currently it seems it is not available to buy in my country. (btw, in case I win, 67mm diameter is just fine for my needs :) )
Thanks for this review! Looking for a Vario-ND filter for a while and it seems Nisi does the same good job with their vario nd like they do with their newer true color cpl version. 82mm would fit perfectly into my arsenal 😍
Certainly one critical component of modern cameras is the need for an ND. For some reason some manufacturers have neglected this as a built in so the need for a quality aftermarket ND is critical. You really get what you pay for these days so it’s better to spend a bit more and if that few extra dollars saves a shot or a whole day of shooting from a poor ND then it’s worth the money. I’d love the 82 mm.
That's the craziest step up setup I have seen yet but it honestly looks much more pleasing than a single step up. Does that impact the lens performance in any way? 82mm makes sense to me since the step up rings are much more cost effective.
As long as the step-up rings don't let light through between them, I think it shouldn't be a problem to stack them like in the video. Also since you are essentially building a cone/tube in front of the lens you should be careful with wider lenses as a filter that doesn't vignette using one 55->77 mm ring may get far enough in front of the lens to start vignetting once you get through all the separate step-up rings. Then there's a theoretical probable issue with how light may bounce between the front element of the lens and the filter. With many step-up rings that distance is greater which may impact how light bounces. I say theoretical as I have no real evidence or experience with that setup myself and all I can do is guess. There should be some. But in practical terms. It might not even be visible in most circumstances.
It would be great if I can get the 77mm nisi filter for my kit. Less stress and much much better image quality. Currently i have $5 filter that has a lot of problems, but I’m still using it anyway.
Thinking this will be my replacement for smashed PMVND. Always seem to get a yellow tint in highlights for photos and a blue cast when right at 5 stops.
This looks like the new best VND on the market, at least for artificial light. How have you fared with IR getting through? I’d love to add a 77mm to my bag 😬
The true Color characteristics is very useful especially for landscape shooting. The nisi has a good price to quality ratio compare with other brands. I would prefer 82mm filter thread for my normal daily use
i think the glass quality is very high in this filter i have 72 mm filter how can i use with other lenses? is there any adopter for that please send me the link which i use 1 filter with all my leanses
Thanks for this info! Lightcraft was a good choice years ago, but the color shift has bothered me more and more over time. This is the variable ND upgrade I need - pick me for the giveaway 😃👍
ive never liked Vari-Nds for exactly those reasons colorcast, xpattern etc. it seems like nisi is the way to go! i wonder how the IR filtration is.. i think i would go with an 77mm thread
It doesn’t seem to cut IR, so your mileage may vary in natural light. This is the one thing keeping me on the fence about picking one up. I’m curious whether an IR filter would’ve affected color accuracy.
Hi Joshua, congratulations. You've won the filter. Can you please post a valid email adress on your channel's contact page so we can get in touch with you? Thank you!
FYI. I would absolutely not recommend getting cheap step up rings. I have lost multiple filters and one lens due to cheap step up rings warping and essentially fusing onto my equipment. Spend 20 bucks instead of 10 bucks on a better quality step ring and save yourself from losing a $100 to $200 filter.

A good review, thank you. I now need a good quality ND filter but was not confident as to which make to consider, your review has helped.
My favorite city for visiting, also learn from your early videos for filmmaking. Thank you and greetings from Bulgaria.
Nd filters are so important and I am glad we get to recieve a high quality filter. 77mm

Beauty of nature with Nisi
What do you think of the Prism Lens FX VND?
And I would love to win this VND (82mm) because this should be in every filmmaker‘s kit.
Thanks been researching hard stop nd recently. 77mm

In the last weeks I bought more gear and high quality VND (82mm) ist still on my bucket list
Great review and awsome vnd filter :)

Great VND. I will buy it. If if true, there is no colour shift, it is awesome.
Thank you for the video! As always interesting!
This filter seems like the best one in the market. I would like to have 82mm filter which will fit perfectly with most lens

Learning alot from your videos. 82mm
It looks like an option for use in Video and Photo simultaneously without screwing. Nice, that‘s what i need ..
Great review! 77mm
A really helpful video - thank you
The best VND filter on the market. I’d like to have the 82mm, the most versatile ;)
Good review as ever! Quality variable ND filters are hard to find. Impressive colour! (77mm)
Definitely looks like a great filter.
My entire vintage set of lenses use 49mm threads btw 😉
Thank you for the review ❤
Very helpful
Could someone explain to me what is a hard stop? I didn’t catch it😢
It would be great if I can get the 77mm nisi filter for my kit. Less stress and much much better image quality. Currently i have $5 filter that has a lot of problems, but I’m still using it anyway.
Great Filter!

That filter looks really nice! it surely would be an upgrade over the one i'm using right now :)
I have a VND from Tiffen but it has a color cast. Have to try this one...
Hi!Could you please write the url for the step-up rings?
This looks like the new best VND on the market, at least for artificial light. How have you fared with IR getting through?
I’d love to add a 77mm to my bag 😬
The stacked set of step-up rings with 82mm on the end is a great idea. Which one do you use? Thanks!

Gutes Video, wie immer eben. Der Filter macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Einen hochwertigen 52mm Filter könnte ich sehr gut gebrauchen. Grüße
82mm please
Great review, I was just wondering which ND to get. If you randomly choose my comment, I need 82mm. Btw, I like your videos, they’re very helpful!
Never used ND filters yet, but it would be nice to start with a good one on 72mm
i think the glass quality is very high in this filter i have 72 mm filter how can i use with other lenses? is there any adopter for that please send me the link which i use 1 filter with all my leanses
Would love to have this filter :) I only use 82mm Filters and use Step up rings on all my lenses 👍🏻

Wow! 5 stops on a single filter! I'm impressed. I would like 77mm, please.
Amazing filter! I just need a 58mm
Do you have step up rings? Which ones work with the nisi true colour
Thanks for this info! Lightcraft was a good choice years ago, but the color shift has bothered me more and more over time. This is the variable ND upgrade I need - pick me for the giveaway 😃👍
So what about IR?
Nice filter. 77mm
YAY! I WON!!! 🏆😃
It’s very good
If I Shoot In S-Log3 (800 ISO) At Bright Sunlight.... Do You Think 1-5 Stops Will Be Enough To Use At F1.8 Aperture...

Descent lights ☺️
This would be great in a 77mm!
Looks like a very useful piece of equipment indeed. 77mm.
Thanks for the video and the giveaway! I would love to win that filter :)
Wow this is an amazing filter! Almost makes my nd filter look unusable haha. 77mm
Really looks great in the comparisons! I would like 49mm diameter, as all my lenses are 46/49.
Hi Joshua, congratulations. You've won the filter. Can you please post a valid email adress on your channel's contact page so we can get in touch with you? Thank you!
