- Hey FreeGang! Thanks for tuning into another extreme budget cheap food shopping video! For this shopping challenge we are off to Aldi supermarket in search of some budget food as we are seeing who can buy a grocery haul and cook the best meal for only £5.

Jojo completely smashed it out of the park. These challenges are really helping him learn cooking skills as well as practising problem solving. Absolutely amazing Jojo and not for your age either, most adults wouldn't of done that well ❤❤

Oh I agree! I do see him doing various things like being a musician, teacher(bc he is teaching guitar) and an engineer (building very detailed legos and have keen eye) he can memorize maps, cities and counties.. the endless future is limitless with Jojo..whatever path or paths he chooses, he is going to be amazing!

A tip for you Katie tap the jar lid on a worktop then try again is releases the pressue in the jar. I think JoJo won 100% in inpressive with his presentation skills 🎉BTW i work in the catering industry ❤

I make a very similar fritter to your breakfast pancake except my batter uses chickpea flour and black salt.
Also, if you mash the spuds and add some Indian Spices, you can make Aloo Tiki, which makes a nice simple breakfast.
I think I might have been tempted to knock up a quick cheese sauce to go on top of that lunch pizza
I liked JoJo's mushroom Duxelles-ish thing on the bed of rice - saffron would have been a lovely addition. That meal was definitely the winner.

Hi Self Raising Free Gang, I have a tiny bit of friendly advice when cooking with doughs or batters etc. I always taste them to see what they taste like raw and then cooked. It helps me gauge what they might need. Since you guys are Vegan you don't have raw egg or meat issues. to Change up leftovers I either put them in eggs to make omelettes or pancake batter to make savoury fritters. It works fine. A big fritter, all in one mold would work better in an oven, akin to baking a cake. (I also do this hehehe)
Jalapeños pronunciation hah-lah PAIN-yohs accent on the Pain (ouch) Wnen you Anglicize it you can get away with Moi-Der as we say in New Jersey.
JoJo one of the most delicious things in the world for mushroom lovers is Duxelles. It's equal parts chopped onions and mushrooms fried in butter (that's the classic recipe) but I'm sure vegan butter and-or a good olive oil will be delicious. and then there are the Herbes Fines (Fancy Herbs) which are a mix of thyme (use sparingly), tarragon, parsley, fennel, oregano, basil. Find the mix you like best. It's a great dish to have in your repetoire (Bob, Katie that goes for you guys too!!!) I alays make a ton of it, it freezes perfectly well and adds wonderful flavor to ANY savoury dish.
JBK KJB BKJ, Curioser and Curioser. So Jabberwocky or is it Joj-Bob-Katie, at least it fits rhythmically

I thought Katie would win, but Bob was way ahead with the ingredients, and his breakfast pancake had me salivating, JoJos presentation was bang on, but too much mushroom and too little tofu for me

Katie, yours reminds me of the toasties we used to make when I was a teen (I'm now 44!). While the toastie maker was heating up, I'd spread tomato sauce onto the inside of the slices of bread, grate the cheese & chop spring onions. Once the toastie maker was ready, I'd construct the toastie onto the toastie maker & let the toastie maker do it's magic. Sooo good! Yours looks much nicer, though.
I was originally going to say Katie, but then I watched the video and seen how good JoJo did with his. He did really really well, I love how he presented it too:)) well done JoJo 💙 Bobs looked good too.

Maybe you could start a mini series in which once a week one of you gets £15 to spend in a supermarket of your choice and has to cook breakfast lunch and dinner for the rest of the family! Then the next week another family member does the same at a supermarket of their choice! ❤️

you always come up with the weirdest ideas for meals in these videos, but i love it because it shows you can make meals for 5 quid, even if that does mean making it slightly weird.. goota say, the pancake thing caught my attention the most, i think that one wins!

To make it more of a challenge next time, each person spends 5 pounds on ingredients and then leave it in the bag. Mix them up and randomly choose a bag to cook with.

Hey guys I love your channel! If you hit a million subscribers it will be well deserved.
I must make one comment about the origin of the Heinz beans in Britain. The company is an American company but.... the beans Heinz makes there is probable in the largest factory in the world and has changed the way they are made in the US for you. The closest comparison in the US is the vegetarian beans. Less sugar and no pork mainly because of the meat shortages during WWII in Europe and to fit the British palette. Heinz brought them over in the 1860's and did change their US version for reasons strictly British taste buds demand.
On a side note Kraft US bought Heinz US several years ago and has stayed a US company.

JoJo's dinner looked very presentable and sounded tasty
I thought JoJo would win based upon the shopping. A very elegant plate.
Bob's looked tasty, but definitely needed some butter and syrup for optimal plate appeal. Potatoes for hashbrowns usually have the water squeezed out of them before frying, but you didn't seem to have any issue with excess water. Well done.
Katie's looked good, too, would have compressed the bread down to make it more pizza crust like, but can't go wrong with anything nacho based. Well done.
