I 100% agree with your ideas about training to deal with traffic.
Many of the videos I see with horse and pony riders complaining about car drivers ( and there are some very bad dangerous drivers out there) show that their horse is not safe to be out in traffic to begin with.
We breed 7 or 8 every year and our land is along busy roads and we have to move them from field to field on the lead rope through the village several times during the summer dealing with manhole covers, road markings, traffic lights.
These animals go on to be very stable in traffic but you need to train them to traffic as they develop as much as you train them to load in a box or go over a jump.

Do you offer summer driving classes where it’s a week or two course that teaches you the do’s and don’ts of driving? I would fly over from the US to take them! You guys do an excellent job! 😊

Hi, we do indeed. We often have people visit from abroad who would like to stay longer than our usual day-long 'Experience Days'. Please send an email to: barryhook1@gmail.com for more details.

What do you do with shoes for the road,,to keep them from sliding around??

If the horse is to be shod, we tend to ask for them to be shod with road nails (not studs) as Barry has found over the years that these provide the best grip.
