while i agree that people need to pay more attention to politics, i believe the focus on obtaining material wealth AT ALL COSTS, is the true issue here. When schools belittle critical thinking, when TMZ racist rants are more important than nigerian schoolgirls, there is an issue with the state of the mind. Money is corrupting the true spirit of caring, hence the symptoms of social ill today. Because wealth is not tied to actual commodity, there is no Ecology in Economy. The lack of actual value creates disparity, the disparity makes social unrest, social unrest begets the hoarding of perceived value. The hoarding of value creates animalistic behavior. This is akin to being 'like a beast' a survival of the fittest mentality, that overrides our instinct to care and nurture. Turn off the nurture and you have a war driven society of conflicting contrast. What we have today. People have had enough of it though and are seeking answers. While 'the creature' may be part of and has certainly exacerbated the problem, I would say that the real issue came when money was divested from wealth, the lifting of the gold standard was the trap door on the whole staged play...and began that slippery slope to utilitarian oligarchy that we see happening everywhere under corporate governance.
