This was a lot of fun to try out definitely a leap from the previous z50. It’s a good time for those starting out. It’s a capable tool for those looking to grow with their kit. And it’s a great option to add to an existing higher end kit if you need an extra camera with out forking out top end pricing for an extra body . I’m into it 🤷♂️

I know a Nikon photographer who was small hands and found Nikon Z cameras other than the Z50 to be too large and uncomfortable. The Z50 II looks like it will be a great upgrade for her. Thanks for an informative review, Seth!
I didn’t even think bout that scenario but actually yea it’s a lot of camera in a small form factor so might be a great option for someone looking for this size ergonomically
I looked at the spec sheet and was a naysayer, looked at this video and I can actually see the potential of this camera. This is actually a pretty well thought out release.
Hey! First off, thanks for your video. I am new to photography and have been looking through black Friday sales, while trying to learn and understand what I want from my first camera. I Was hoping you, or someone in the comments, can clarify using lenses across the Nikon platform. I initially decided I wanted a full frame camera, and am uncertain if the lenses I purchase for this camera would translate to a full frame Nikon down the line? It could make sense for me to spend less on this camera to learn with now, while building out future kit once I become more skilled. Sorry if this is redundant.
Ricci mentioned pairing it with a 400mm f.4.5 lens for bird photography now that it has bird detection autofocus, which even the Z6iii does not have. I want Nikon to make my Zf compatible with that new remote shutter release cable! and they really owe to Z6iii shooters to give them bird detection in an update.
Does the new z50 II also include any of the manual focus assist modes from the zf and z3 III? This would allow my old manual vintage lenses to work better thereon!
It’s the same 2hrs 5 mins (for some reason) as the other Z series but you can hit record again immediately if you have card space and power Also you can still hdmi out to a recorder like Atomos if you wanted
If you’re asking if it has the CLS system with the pulsing strobe communication for optical flash control. I didn’t see that menu in there no but obviously yes it can still trigger any remote flash that has an optical slave sensor you just can’t set the power remotely with this I don’t think
Great and professional video, thank you. How about focus stacking, did Nikon finally add this to the only body which didn't have it ? Was the EVF blackout while shooting in fast mode improved ?
Thanks for the analysis! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Just a quick question: will the Z50 II work with the F lenses and the FTZ adaptor? I have a D90 and a D7500 with lots of F lenses and don't want to get ride of them :)
The FTZ adapter only autofocuses the modern G lenses. It's because theses newer lenses have focus motors in them. The D lenses become autofocus lenses.
Yea it’s a Z mount and that’s what the adapters been for since the start of the series. But keep in mind it’s for AF-S series lenses to maintain autofocus ability so just check which lenses you’re trying to adapt. They’ll work but to make sure they still have autofocus they can’t be the old lenses with the screw D drive type focusing mechanism
Assuming they fixed the physical fragility of the original Z 50, this should be great! I hope it's not too much chunkier now too, but, even if it is, this is something Nikon really needed to put out. Edit - comparing the specs, it's 3mm bigger in height and 6mm thicker, which seems like an acceptable tradeoff! (I really hope they fixed the fragility as part of making it chunkier.)
It felt more substantial but I wouldn’t call the original fragile at all. I had one. Daniel has one. Even got one for my mechanic father who throws it all over the place we havnt had physical damage issues personally. Like I said here though this is basically a total redesign they could have even named it a new model all together really
@@LastXwitness , oh respected master of the effects shot, progenitor of the Brooklyn Reflector, and general photographic deity in janitorial disguise, I am quite glad that you, Daniel, and your father have had good luck with your Z50s. That said, if you do a little bit of searching the web, you'll find a lot of people reporting broken Z50 shutters from reasonably small impacts. This has happened to me, personally. A 2 foot fall to soft, spongy grass and soil killed my Z50's shutter. In contrast, my Z30 (which is similar in construction and dimensions) has taken a fair bit of inadvertent knocks and been fine, which makes me think it's a design issue with the Z50, as that was one of Nikon's first mirrorless cameras and it could well be that they just tried to lighten things up a bit too much. This issue aside, I loved that camera, so I'm really hoping Nikon addresses it as part of their self-repair program in the near future. On a semi-bright note, the breaking of my Z50 caused me to migrate to a Z7II, which gets so much less love than it deserves, especially considering how much more compact it is compared to the Z8 if you don't need super-fast bursts. Also, during the dynamic range discussions surrounding the Z6III (overblown, clearly), the Z7II came out smelling like roses, which is interesting given the photosite density of its sensor. Anyway, given the relative durability of the Z30 and Zfc, I strongly suspect that they fixed the issue to which I'm referring for the Z50II, and I hope lots of people buy it, especially from Adorama, as it seems like it's going to be a wonderful, little (this can be a good thing, folks) camera. :)
It’s electronic ibis so it does crop to do that however the dx lenses have optical stability which I find works really well for what it is. And also if there was ibis it wouldn’t be this price or this size. You really won’t find mechanical ibis under a grand

Well done Nikon. The Z50ii will be a big success just like the Z50 !! Great video review!

very strong video. Thank You. Which cable are you using connecting
the Z50 II into the laptop?
It’s just a tether cable. USB C to usb C that was a tether tools brand

I'm asking myself the same thing!
How good is this for portrait without IBIS? No primes have IBIS.
Ibis? Weather sealing?
Thank you!

Tks

Yea it does have focus stacking (focus shift) from what we were told
@@LastXwitness Good news, thank you.
Long awaited bird recognition mode \(^o^)/😍🐦🐦🐦😍
Same, I use d7500, they finally announced a apsc camera with bird recognition . I will update my camera before next bird season.
I knew someone would be hyped for that lol ya got it!
Any chance for a grip for it?
I'm not sure which camera I sould buy: Z5 or Z50II, I will use it for taking still fotos with flash (macros); can you give some suggestions ?

Can it be easily used as a webcam?
Check @8:08 in the video
@LastXwitness that was 2 quick...
but it is awesome that 1 cable solution will work. no more capture card.
Is the pre-capture in raw or jpg?
Jpeg

Do you know if the z50 mark 2 have in camera photo stacking
focus stacking? it does focus shift shooting not sure if it compiles in camera though might be a tall order for this price point

I'd say its a professional grade camera now
any info on overheating?
it never over heated on us while doing this video when its out we can try to revisit it when its avaiable and have more time with it
