I'll always cry, no matter how old I get. This show, this song, these memories...they never get old, dude. I grew up in that time, I reminisce now... I will always love Angela, Jordan, Rayanne, Rickie, Sharon, and Brian. Because of the times we shared between hearts, they are family. ^_^
Most people think it's childish to fixate on characters of a television show from 20 years ago, but holy shit wow...if that's all you have to go on, I say more power to ya!!
This album captures the spirit of the mid 1990's. The early 90's were like an extension of the 80s. The late 90's were the TRL teen pop years. However, 1994-1995 had this folksy alternative vibe. Seattle, flannel shirts, and music like this. Idk, maybe it's just me, but this album and this show caught the essence of those years.
It ignites my solipsism, really, because I, like the characters in the show, was a sophomore in high school when "My So-Called Life" came out, and a LOT of people commented that I reminded them of Angela Chase that year. It was almost as if it couldn't have been more written for me. But how is that possible? Only if no one else exists in the world.
Update: I just found the soundtrack album at a used bookstore for like, two bucks...it plays beautifully and I'm totally reliving the moments of the show while jamming to every song! Life is absolutely wonderful right now... ^_^
When this came out on tv I cried on the couch, like I was inconsolable , I was a young teen, I remember my mom was so annoyed that I was so upset about a tv show.
This song is one of my all-time favorites... WISH it was on Spotify! One of those moments where I had a clue I might be gay... at that time, I shared Angela's OBSESSION over Jordan Catalano....
I love Juliana Hatfield soooo much! If her voice and the depth of her songs don't just melt your heart, you have no soul. If you've never read her book, "When I Grow Up," you should do it. Not only is it a very interesting book about a musician's life traveling for their dream of making it in the music business but it is also a very candid look at a very sweet person who is trying to overcome the challenges of living with serious, almost debilitating depression. It is an amazing read and Juliana Hatfield is such a special, special person. I hope to get a chance to meet her one day.
I'm reading it right now, which is basically why I'm here watching a few of Juliana's videos. I never got into her music, but that doesn't matter as far as reading the book. I mostly read memoirs out of curiosity about people more so than needing to be into the bulk of their work. Anyway, I'm enjoying what she has to say, and can certainly relate to her shyness and trouble interacting with people.
This song should be much more well known than it is! My Shazam wont even pick it up lol I'm 40 now and this show was cancelled way too soon back then. Great cast, writers and everyone in between. ❤❤❤
Part of me would give anything for more episodes, but I wonder if it would be disappointing if it kept going. Most shows turn out that way. So, in a way, I'm grateful it was canceled (I think?)
What a beautiful song. I didn't watch this show at the time. I usually had a girlfriend who watched it bawling their eyes out. And I just rolled my eyes. I saw this episode about a month ago and couldn't stop blubbering.

I was going through one of my depressive episodes(and during the holidays so you can imagine it was bad) .. this didn't help haha but at the same time it has a sweet melody .. it kinda made me feel like killing myself lol but at the same time gave me some sort of peace .. weird I know lol
I was AFK doing housework when this came on just now, and it struck me that Juliana Hatfield sounds uncannily like Jewel Kilcher in this song. Not "Who Will Save Your Soul" Jewel, but "Adrian" or "Daddy" Jewel.
