Yes, they are so otherworldly but at the same time they hit on something that is so essentially human. This song has made me cry so many times, both with sorrow and hope, like my heart expands everytime.
I am so excited to see they announced the North American tour! Preparing to see them live in Chicago this spring! This will be my first time seeing Dead Can Dance live
So sad they split up. I still cry when I think about it. Dead can Dance concerts were like coming home for me. To never to see them together live... heartbreaking.
If Lisa had only went into opera she would have never given our ears the opportunity to truly appreciate a sound that Dead Can Dance as well as her angelic vocals has offered to us.
To me this Is a healing Song. It represents the journey of healing from the Absolute darkness, destruction and devastation to the liberation from all negativity. It's Amazing, really. In the last piece She can make me feel a sensation of ascention but not in the Christian way, more like a liberation from all the emotional weight a human carries on his back. Wow.
This song as well as the whole album Serpen's egg is my favorite work from DCD, I'm from the Balkan, I guess no one knows where it is, and I know this sound, the whole album is somewhere between Catholic and Orthodox church music
That's curious, if I have to identify from which region of the globe this music may come from, my guess will be the Balkan. I don't know also if my association got something to do with the other project from 4AD, mystere des voix bulgares.
I've seen now several different versions of this amazing piece of music performed here, thanks to the invention of RUclips and all things digital but this version really is beyond words... although magnificent seems to come close, perfect even closer... Lisa's performance is truly miraculous, one can see her lower lip quivering... this is beyond art, it is truly a religious experience which is something that is so desperately needed today. Bravo Dead Can Dance !!
I agree, the best of all Live versions that there are out there. Also because some of other live versions are in different key that don't do justice to the mastered one. This version rocks, and it's great to see that they still got it.🙏

I keep running across covers of this piece. Every one of them is special and amazing, I really like this one. So much spirit, so haunted, ethereal and remote, yet immediate. By the end, I feel like I have witnessed a procession of angels. Timeless. Compelling.
It's good but I guess I'm a bit disappointed that she can't really sing like in the movie The Mist. She sounds almost like a different person. But that doesn't mean she isn't wonderful!

I first heard this song when I watched that movie about owls (Legende der Wächter) and didn't really notice the song. Many years later my boyfriend tells me about the song and I instantly loved it. And then I found out that I knew that song already. Lol

Holy shit! I had no clue that I knew this MASTERPIECE. I first heard it in the 2007 The Mist movie at the end. What a fitting song!
