Doubles are actually not a bad thing with this set since you can use them as filler books for mini shelves. You might also try to custom the books to give them new covers ;)
18:57 Burn Book is part of the movie Mean Girls. Apparently (said by a RUclipsr who re-created the book in a video) is ment to name people on there that you deeply hate. She for example wrote into hers about a girl who snitched on her in school or a boy who joked to her about having a crush without actually meaning it and she drew their faces into the book with their names
The burn book from mean girls was made by the antagonist Regina to ridicule all the girls in the school. She eventually adds herself to frame the main girl for writing it before spreading it around school. Not sure if that RUclipsr explained it badly but it's more about bullying not really people actually doing anything wrong.
The BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant; For more context, Sophie is an orphan who one night is taken from the orphanage by the BFG after she spots him from her bedroom window. The BFG then whisked her away to "Giant Country", where she learned about the BFG and the many bigger giants living there. As you mentioned, the book follows their adventures in Giant Country, which sparks a friendship between Sophie and the BFG. The Books are written by the same person who wrote Matilda, so should definitely read it if you haven't already. The Burn Book is from Mean Girls, it's a book where the characters (high schoolers) write mean comments about their classmates within the pages. Rather than burn it, the book is called "The Burn Book" because it's basically a place where they could "burn" or roast their classmates without them knowing. However, the book is leaked and causes major trouble within their school and for the characters, as classmates turn on each other, trying to figure out who wrote the book.
They probably can't, due to copyright issues. You wouldn't want people reading the whole book, or a majority of it while paying someone else for it, would you?
The BFG and The Twits are very well known in England, we cover them in primary school. The BFG was an animated film in the 90s and re-made as an actual film a few years ago - it's worth a watch! My kids love these books
They where big here in USA in the 80's. I remember them well. Now a days the young kids ask me if I am on twitter and I always respond, "No, I am not a Twit"
I would read "Bunnicula" to my 3rd graders every year. They LOVED it! It's told from the point of view of the family dog (it's part of the Editor's Note). The family cat (Chester) is the one who is convinced the bunny is a vampire. It's hysterical! One of my favorites! There are other books in the series including "The Celery Stalks at Midnight."
JACKIE: Look in bags for bookmarks or magnifying glass also! 5 surprises per ball. ONLY the first couple of pages are readable. Kind of false advertising but if it was completely readable then the books would be a lot thicker and a licensing issue probably. A lot of these books I do not know. I am 60 though. :) Three of these books are from a previous min brands capsule, A Christmas Carol, Black Beauty, and Alice in Wonderland. People were buying those books on ebay for 15.00! I think the woman on the cover of one of the Vampire Diaries is the actress from Twilight. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a book AND a movie! I know the Burn Book is a lined page blank book.
nice! i have a hard cover black beauty from series 3 toy mini brands.. I also have quite a few bitcoins I want to try to sell, I will sell my black beauty book too.. I waste too much on these but I always find a way to justify the purchase.. Its nice being an adult!!!!! lol.... I cant wait to get the burn book! That one has to be hard to get.
The author of Pride & Predjudice & Zombies also wrote the book Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter! The author likes to combine sci-fi and historical settings, he's got quite a few others as well. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is my favorite by far. Horrid movie, but amazing book.
The Mrs Peregrine's home for peculiar children is a really interesting book. Basically the book was written around odd pictures found in antique stores
My dad showed me and my brother the movie when I was 7, I hated it so so much. I got nightmares for YEARS! My brother is 2 years older than me and also hated it.
This reminds me of something when i was young. My grandma worked for the Milwaukee Journal, and their daily comics page was the "Green Sheet", actually colored green. End of every year (i think) they would publish special MINI papers, Green Sheet and all! I loved those things. I wish any of them had been kept😢🤷♀️
@KOKO-uu7yd I just went looking for those, just googled them in general, and they are SO COOL. I'm a genealogist, so I maintain subscriptions on certain sites, newspapers are my fav. I did find the Milwaukee Journal, but I haven't found the tiny ones on the site. I'm not sure whether those will have been digitized. One mention I saw was that they were handed out at the State Fair. Honestly, this was a brilliant marketing idea. Earliest ones I saw were from the early 1950s. Hope whomever came up with the idea got an awesome bonus!
Burn book is a reference from Mean Girls. I want a mini Burn book now! Also Diary of a Wimpy Kid was my favorite book series in middle school! Also Judy Moody.
Kinda sad that just the first Chapter is readable and the rest is just "Lorem Ipsum [...]", but as a graphic designer I know how hard it is to typeset tiny text and when ink bleeds (which it usually does) that would be unreadable. And I guess they expected most people to not try to read the full book anyways XD Still I would have loved a real "fully functional" miniature :D And especially for THE legendary one
Bunnicula was my favorite book as a child. I had the entire series and when I was in my 20's I got a pet black and white bunny bunny who looked just like the one on the cover of the series I had. (Who is sadly no longer with me) that book series held such a special place in my heart and my life and the fact that it was written by a husband and wife team.... I have held out for a man that I can create something like that with some day... It doesn't have to be a successful book series just someone that wants to create with me... I cant believe Colleen Hoover books got into this. I think the reason they can't make the whole book readable is a copyright issue. That also may be why there aren't books like Lord of the Rings - they weren't able to get permission from whomever controls the copyrights on those.
I really want the Alice book. Not only did I have an obsession with the books, but it being so smol is just so perfect! You can pretend to be giant as you read it 😂 The series I absolutely adored as a kid was the Alanna series (it was called something else, but I am drawing a blank). It was magical and fantastic and really got me more into reading (I liked it before, but it became an adoration).
I always prefer the hard cover as it gives me a nice heavy feeling and a hard surface to grip. It also gives me fancy vintage book aesthetic❤. I'm not against bending the book while reading but I can't bring myself to do that, it makes me feel eerie and wrong. P/s: As a book worm and a miniature fan, these books are too cute that my heart can't handle. It's a shame that I can't get them though.
I'm honestly jealous of Jackie's lack of CoHo knowledge. I wish I could go back to a time when I didn't know anything about her too. Knowing my luck I'd buy this and definitely get one of her books though :/
I loved Goosebumps as a kid and i still do read them from time to time. Then i moved to Stephen King and Agatha Christie. I have hard time reading books, but Goosebumps just has big enough font that the dyslexia doesnt get in the way and it's short enough to stay very interested in the stories. I love them!
As someone who grew up reading Goosebumps, *ONLY* wanting to read Stephen King books for *any and all* book reports AND as someone with multiple types of dyslexia, I completely understand. I am 39 now yet I still find so much joy in Goosebumps and creating your own story. Would really love to find books similar but maybe a bit more for my age demographic.
Yeah… LotR and the Hobbit would have been great! They’re my favorite books ever. However, Christopher Tolkien was really protective over the rights for his father’s books, so maybe that’s why. They would honestly be the only books I’d be interested in getting a miniature for lol. Do you have a fave LotR character?
OMG! I had totally forgotten about Bunnicula!!! I loved that book! The rabbit sucks the juice out a vegetables. It's awesome! Man, this video is nostalgic for 80s kids!
So cool! When I was a little train, Judy Blume was quite popular, and the Babysitters Club books. I love hard cover books! Also this would be great for miniature dioramas.
Bunnicula! Oh my god I LOVE THE BUNNICULA SERIES. Bunnicula, Howliday Inn, The Celery Stalks at Midinight, Nighty-Nightmare, The Return to Howliday Inn, Bunnicula Strikes Again. Bunnicula himself is more of a side character honestly. The co-stars are Chester the cat and Harold the dog, and eventually, Howie who is the puppy dachshound(presumed to be part werewolf). There were lovely little pictures ink pictures that went along with the books. My favorite was when Chester attempts to stake Bunnicula, but he's a cat, so what he tries to do is smother the bunny with a t-bone steak. The picture is absolutely priceless.
The Burn book is from the movie Mean Girls. It's basically a book that was used by the mean girls to "burn" (insult) their peers. I'm surprised they didn't include the first entry/page like all the other books
It was based on the musical made from the book and the movie. The netflix version only follows the book. It’s cool because no matter which one you chose, you get a little bit of a different story
Bunnicula, dangnabbet yes. I loved those books as a kid. So much nostalgia!! I also like the cartoon. The burn book is cool. It would be a good one to make notes in.
The Phantom Tollbooth and The Little Prince were my two favorite children’s books growing up. I still have my original copy of The Phantom Tollbooth, and I make a habit of reading it once a year. I can’t wait to share both stories with my son when he gets older. Right now he is more likely to eat the book than read it, so…. Keeping my precious books far away.
I think what would be really really cool is if they made at least the first chapter readable so people get into the book then feel like they need to go out and buy the actual book. Or have some random pages throughout the whole book that is readable and the rest not for the same effect. I think this is a really cool way to get people to buy and read books again. I love this so much ❤🥰
I loved Agatha Christie, Stephen King, and Scary Stories! I was kinda weird bitty grain. 😊😅 Edit: Pride, Predujuce and Zombies is a movie too! Was great! I prefer hardback books, but they are expensive so I buy soft. For my softcover books I never break the spine and get VERY upset if someone borrows and break the spines, so I tend to not lone out books.
OMG, I'm still early in the video, the part where you're going through the list of things you could get and there is a book called Bunicula, that book TRAUMATIZED me as a kid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I had a rabbit at the time of reading that, I remember being absolutely TERRIFIED of my own bunny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg I read Bunnicula in third grade! My teacher would gather us around and read a few chapters every day through the whole series! She did voices and everything (Chester’s was the best and the only one I can remember lol). I even remember there was a tornado after school so we were all stuck inside and she just kept reading. One of my favorite teachers and a super nostalgic book series for me ❤️
I wish they put the full first chapter in it. I know it would take up the whole book because of the size but I think that would really incentivize people to read the books especially kids because of the gimmick
What a cute idea. It's a bummer only the first page is legible. Btw, if you liked Matilda, you'll like The BFG. You can probably find it at your local library =)
I loved Roald Dahl’s Matilda! I loved to read really early on and used to go through books so quickly and I wanted to be as smart as her too; the telekinesis would have been awesome too of course! 😊😅
Nooo you can’t bend the books, the precious needs to be looked after!😂😂😂 I was always afraid to lend anyone my books when I was young in case they bent pages or folded them etc My mum used to laugh when I’d get a brand new book and basically only crack it open enough to read the words because I wanted to keep them in perfect condition!😂😂 love the smell of them too.
As cute as they are I'm a little horrified that Colleen Hoover's books are included in here. Those are very adult books with mature themes, and to include them in a toy that mostly children will be buying... Thats a little scary to me.
‘Won’t someone think of the children!?!’ I’m not sure these are targeted to kids. Even they are, it’s up to parents to pay attention to what they’re giving their kids. Also, they’re not full readable books.
Uhm yeah I wouldn't say Vampire Diaries, Stranger Things and probably not the Pride and Prejudice parody are for small kids either. It's clearly targeted to an older audience. Also how is it a toy? Just because it's minatures or surprises doesn't make it a kids toy 🤷🏼♀️
I Love The Baby-Sitters Club! It Came Out The Year I Was Born. Didn’t Know Mini Brands Books Was Target Exclusive. I’m In Montréal And Was Hoping To Find Them Here
OMG I need these little books (even if you can't read but the first page.) Particularly "A Christmas Carol" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." There are so many more books they can turn into this mi I size.
19:09 BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant. It is a delightful little read 😊 In other news Hollywood has warped me. . . first place my mind went with the burn book was Mean Girls. 😅
The Bunnicula books are sooooo good! They were my first ever foray into horror & I remember being curled up on the couch, terrified, but persevering reading them
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are a series altogether. Where one book leaves off the next in the series picks up. Would be fun to see if you get the entire collection. My son enjoyed those books as a preteen. He's soon to be 22!
I enjoyed Shel Silverstein poetry/stories. The Missing Piece, Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light In the Attic. Loved pretty much any Dr. Suess book, still do. I love rhymes, poetry, and illustrations. As a teen and young adult I was into some Stephen King novels, Dolores Claborn, Green Mile, Gerald's Game (I never read 50 Shades of Grey, but I always tell people Gerald's Game would definitely cool them down) Now I'm into sci-fi and mysteries mostly.
There is a bookmark or magnifying glass in each ball. That Stranger Things book is indeed very rare, I bought an entire case of these & didn’t get the iconic or legendary books
My favorite classic when I was a kid was The Call Of The Wild. I remember sitting in a pile of stuffed animals reading it, I was crying my eyes out but I couldn't put it down. To this day I love Jack London. I also have a huge obsession with Animorphs so if there were Animorphs in these I would absolutely HAVE to get them. Also Waterfire Saga would be great.
If you want to read Roald Dahl, try to get an original because unfortunately in today’s society kids books aren’t PC enough. So many books are being re written and I read that Roald Dahl is one of them.(although most people don’t agree and don’t want them re written) So I recommend you don’t get an “up to date modern” version where some of the stories have been changed which is such a shame since there’s nothing wrong with these books. I was reading these books throughout my childhood and I don’t understand why they have to be changed. Even Enid Blyton is being re written. So sad.
I'm pretty sure the inside pages are illegible because of copyright law, not because of laziness. They could get in a lot of trouble if they started printing actual readable copies of people's books without getting permission.
Ms Perigrine's Home for Peculiar Children is a MUST READ! The author uses real found photo images in the books and they helped inspire the books. The movie changes the whole power of the main character though and not by just a little bit either. I couldn't bring myself to watch something that changed such a crucial element. Almost like The Golden Compass, but worse! The Golden Compass books are must read too. Both series are so engrossing with fantastic worlds and characters. The other series I absolutely love is The Abhorrsen series by Garth Nix. If you like magical, creepy, and suspenseful, but not scary, books then read them for sure. It's probably one of my all time favorite book series and it definitely doesn't get enough attention! When I was a growing grain my mom introduced me to Anne McCaffrey. I preferred the Crystal Singer books over The Dragonriders ones, but they get into romance and a little spicy, so discretion advised. I read voraciously as a kid and there was always a library book close at hand. I remember that an early possession that made a big difference in my life was my very own library card to the public library. My mom would take my sister and I to the library a few times a month. It was one of our favorite places, including Mom. We were responsible for all books we checked out and any fines for late returns. I think I was seven.
I wanna believe theres some sort of copyright protection that prevents them from putting too much of the actual text in these. But these are SUPER cool. I wanna find one to buy~
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in fact a real book. My mom bought me the sequel at a thrift store a while back but I've never read it because I don't have the first one. ):
I have an app to track the books I own and I can add them by scanning the code on the back. Long story short: The codes on the books work! You can scan them and the real book will pop up, the ISBN is actually accurate. Not gonna lie... I'm impressed. I want them now, but as a german grain..... doubt I can get my hands on them. :/
I am so so excited for all of my classic children and teen horror. I still have every single one of the Bunnicula books and I even bought the graphic novel just for the nostalgia. I hope that for series two they will add "Cirque Du Freak: The Vampires Assistant" and "The Little Vampire". I'm sure that Angela Somer-Bodenburge would love to see that her books are still being read by by children today and re-read by those who consider her work nostalgic. I even did a full research assessment folder on her art and her life for art history back in the 9th grade. She's a genuine gem 😊
I just got some of the Circque Du Freak books from goodwill last month! I'd never heard of them, definitely didn't know it was a well known series, but I really love vampires so I immediately started reading. I read the first two books in a day. 😅
Heeeeey Jackie! The Valentines Make it Minis are out already if you wanna grab those ahead of the holiday. They’ve got 4 to collect, one of them a secret one

I’m 39 and I find Diary of a Wimpy Kid quite hilarious. I’m happy you got an iconic, Jackie 💕
I'm surprised they didn't include the first entry/page like all the other books
matilda was also made into a musical type movie on netflix as well. it was really interesting. bfg stands for big friendly giant
It was based on the musical made from the book and the movie. The netflix version only follows the book.
It’s cool because no matter which one you chose, you get a little bit of a different story
Agreed.
Wish ALL of the pages were readable!
Bunnicula, dangnabbet yes. I loved those books as a kid. So much nostalgia!! I also like the cartoon.
The burn book is cool. It would be a good one to make notes in.
The Phantom Tollbooth and The Little Prince were my two favorite children’s books growing up. I still have my original copy of The
Phantom Tollbooth, and I make a habit of reading it once a year. I can’t wait to share both stories with my son when he gets older. Right now he is more likely to eat the book than read it, so…. Keeping my precious books far away.
Charlotte’s web
I have read the phantom tollbooth for school and I loved it.
Edit: Pride, Predujuce and Zombies is a movie too!
The BFG(big friendly giant) is one of my favorite books when I was younger! 10/10 recommend
So the writers of the bunnicula 7 book series were a husband and wife team. They also made it in an animated series which was pretty cute too.
I hate that they say they’re readable when they technically aren’t.:(
You have to read the BFG - big friendly giant. Also a film. I think you will love it Jackie x
What a cute idea. It's a bummer only the first page is legible.
Btw, if you liked Matilda, you'll like The BFG. You can probably find it at your local library =)
BTW, The Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is indeed a real book. It’s one of my middle kids favorite books. It’s actually great!!!
it's really disappointing you can only read 1 page. definitely false advertising, they should have done at least the first chapter.
There are 3D printed bookshelves for these on etsy! Also Bunnicula is very popular in elementary school. Great book!
My favorite book growing you was a book called The Giver. Such an underrated book
I only learned of it because of the movie.
Yay thank for reviewing these Ive been asking for a while❤ I love you jackie❤
Well that’s false advertising right there…I was drawn in, now I don’t want them..shame.
Le Petit Prince is my favorite classic! I even have him tattooed on my left forearm as a reminder of his life-long lessons : )
10 min club.
I am STOKED that you got Bunnicula!!! That was one of my favourite books when I was little!
Please make a mini bookcase for these! Love your videos! ❤
As cute as they are I'm a little horrified that Colleen Hoover's books are included in here. Those are very adult books with mature themes, and to include them in a toy that mostly children will be buying... Thats a little scary to me.
‘Won’t someone think of the children!?!’
I’m not sure these are targeted to kids.
I’m In Montréal And Was Hoping To Find Them Here
FIRSTT JACKYY IM FIRST!!
They were my first ever foray into horror & I remember being curled up on the couch, terrified, but persevering reading them
I just started working as a librarian. I would LOVE to get these and make jewelry and keychains with them
The BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant. Absolutely loved that book as a kid. If you like Roald Dahl, it is SO worth reading The BFG.
Ms Peregrines is such an interesting series, since it uses photos to help tell the story
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are a series altogether. Where one book leaves off the next in the series picks up. Would be fun to see if you get the entire collection. My son enjoyed those books as a preteen. He's soon to be 22!
They actually made a series of Goosebumps this year! I would 100 recommend it for all ages and it’s not a cartoon
The Twits is hilarious!! I recommend reading it. Even adults!!
Yay! FINALLY getting a review of these from you!
The Little Prince is so good! And the movie was adorable!!! ❤
My heart stopped when you bent that book 😂😂😂
I enjoyed Shel Silverstein poetry/stories. The Missing Piece, Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light In the Attic. Loved pretty much any Dr. Suess book, still do. I love rhymes, poetry, and illustrations. As a teen and young adult I was into some Stephen King novels, Dolores Claborn, Green Mile, Gerald's Game (I never read 50 Shades of Grey, but I always tell people Gerald's Game would definitely cool them down) Now I'm into sci-fi and mysteries mostly.
Fun fact: Shel Silverstein actually wrote a pretty well known classic country song. It's called A Boy Named Sue.
@@michaelinthebathroom7560 I know. I found that out shortly after writing my comment. I thought that was pretty cool
I totally want The Twits!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was hoping to see Animorphs when I started seeing my childhood books on that list
Im really surprised how many people dont know what the BFG is, i think all the youtubers that ive watched open these have never herd o if it before xD
All book worms 😭
There is a bookmark or magnifying glass in each ball.
That Stranger Things book is indeed very rare, I bought an entire case of these & didn’t get the iconic or legendary books
Yay soothe my soul❤❤❤❤
So sad.
i have most these books on my bookshelf and i checked and the words go exactly with the large version wich honestly i did not expect
My heart hurt every time you bent the book lol 😂😂
I kinda wish some of the covers were the older versions, mostly the Ronald Dahl ones. I'm not a fan of newer covers.
Gig frenly giants
Oh i like these! That's a good idea
It’s kind of disappointing that there’s only four pages printed and nothing else but I still kinda want to get them the BFG is the big friendly giant
Pride and prejudice zombie is real and it’s a funny read. 100% worth it lol
BFG- Big Friendly Giant
The BFG is my middle daughter's comfort book. She has read it no less than 6 times. 💜
Hi Jackeh! :)
The BFG is a really fun book to read!!!!! Highly recommend reading it irl. I do like all Roald Dahl books!
@@michaelinthebathroom7560 ❤️❤️❤️
Loves 'Goosebumps' in Germany too
Heeeeey Jackie! The Valentines Make it Minis are out already if you wanna grab those ahead of the holiday. They’ve got 4 to collect, one of them a secret one
