    In todays video I will be putting the leaf shave to the head shaving test.
    The leaf shave has a really unique design. A cross between a double edge safety razor and a replaceable cartridge razor. It offers the use of 1,2 or 3 blades for varying aggressiveness.
    After going bald and shaving my head I still think that is the best option for guys struggling with hair loss. I am always on the lookout for the best head shaving products to make life bald just that little bit better. Is this the best yet?

    I was skeptical about using such sharp blades on my head as I have sensitive skin and have been using Gillette skingurd for a few months but took the plunge after Christmas as the cost of cartridges was getting too much. I'm so glad I did, i went straight to the astra platinum blades, and what a shave, no irritation, super smooth shave, the initial outlay at 79.99 was a bit of a hit but in the long run it's so much cheaper. I would highly recommend the leaf.

    Mate, I can't thank you enough. I have been fighting my receding hairline for years. Ever since first spotting it at the age of roughly 21, I knew my hairline was diminishing. It wasn't really a conscious thing until I turned 22/23 and realized that it was indeed receding at the front! I tried covering it up, doing every undercut haircut imaginable and was happy with that for a while. I tried going for a buzz cut 2,5 years ago, but I didn't like it as I had no beard and looked 12. I didn't get good reactions too and my girlfriend at the time had the following reaction: "oh Nathan, why?" and "If you wear the hat, you are Nathan again". So that was quite demoralizing to say the least haha! So I had more undercut hairstyles from age 23,5 to 26 now and I was quite happy with it. However, after having tried an undercut manbun with the receding hairline, something in me asked the question: "Now that you have a full beard, how will it look with a buzz cut?". So I pulled the long hair back and just looked at my head with the buzzed undercut sides. I took a photo of it and looked at it. I liked what I saw.
    I kept pondering on it for a couple of weeks. During the last 6 to 12 months I have constantly had my hair in my mind. Is it covered up? Is it not showing the spots where it isn't growing? By all the Gods, it is windy outside, people will see it! Then with the man bun undercut style, I had this one piece of hair that couldn't get in the bun, only if I made it wet so it would stick to the rest of the hair. I kept it at the side, jamming it to the rest of my hair constantly. If it let go, you could see that that little piece covered basically an area of no hair at all. It must have looked comical. It was always in the back of my mind, it drained me. Two weeks ago I was sitting in the train, thinking about my hair once again and I came across your videos on RUclips. I watched many of them and it was then and there in the train, that I looked outside of the window. It was pitch black and all you could see was my own reflection, but funnily enough not my hair! Only my face and the shape of my head. At that very moment, I decided I would do it. I would buzz my head. I was so done with it! I said "Fuck it!". So I did it and it was such a HUGE relief. I had multiple feelings when I watched the final result. I liked it but it was also a big step. I had left the top somewhat longer and the sides shorter as the undercut was before. I went to my girlfriend (other girlfriend nowadays :)) and she complemented me on that it looks good and that she likes it. My coworkers and others complemented me too and said that it looks good on me. They said I can handle the look, I can take it! The first week I was sort of in between and having days where I liked it and days where I felt I had made a mistake. Now, two weeks in, I have just buzzed it to one lenght (3mm) and I like it a lot.
    I can't thank you enough for your videos and your motivation and your encouragement. I had a hard time with this for years but you helped me in so many ways (in one 2 hour train ride and a dozen of your videos mind you!). One thing I realized once I took it off is that there are so many other more important things I want to focus on! For example health, dreams, financial freedom and for example family. Hair is a minuscule thing in my life, I can have so many other things that can make me shine, make me attractive and resolute as a man! I feel like a burden has been lifted out of my head (and off my head lol). It also made me realize that my hairline isn't even that bad, I just made it more and more bad in my head. So the buzzed look looks good. Perhaps one day I will grow it out again, but up until now I love rocking this buzzed look with the beard. I even caught myself thinking this afternoon: "I can't imagine living without a beard, living without hair on my head is easy". I would have cried at living without my hair a year ago!
    Thank you my friend. You have made such a positive impact on my life. Know what you are doing is helping others! Praise you by all the Gods!

    Idk if you’ve gotten this comment yet but your lathers seem to be lacking in moister/slickness. I’d try adding a little more water, it will increase slickness, glide, protection and lather volume.

    Been clipping my head for 14 years but took the big change over xmas....14 years lost! What a truly fantastic razor this, anyone using cartridges who has confidence with a blade needs to try this. I fobbed the leaf blades off after one shave as like you they tugged like crazy. Chucked 3 feather blades in and boom! I've got some astra blue on order but tbh the feathers are mentally close so I don't see how they can be beaten. Time will tell. Love changing it up!

    Thank you. Been following your bids for a while. And finally made the plunge on buying a leafshave razor. I did it because of not just the use of plastic I wont be throwing out anymore but also there is so many razors that when I ask my wife to pick some up she gets the same brand but they can be so different and the last one she got was just awful. So made the plunge. Just tried it 5 min ago and it is fantastic. Thank you for your videos and reviews. This was well worth the purchase.

    feel like i was lied to with this product, bought it, shit shave, thought maybe it's their blades, bought some high end blades i've used before, still rough patches, got to say i've gotten better shaves with those jail style prison razors, and less irritation. I gave it time, 3 weeks, different types of oil/gel/just water, on top of that the razor handle is slicker than an oil spill, hang on for dear life. I was looking forward to this razor because I have been looking for something cost effective for shaving the head. I hate to go back to the 5 blade cartridge but i'm getting a better shave with em.

    Hello from Antalya. I have just bought the Leaf for my head shaves and it's great. I think why you are feeling tuggy at the back of your head is that your lather looks way too dry.

    • @donaldallen9804
      @donaldallen9804 2 года назад

    Try the Henson AL13 for great head shaves men, it's awesome ! The Henson AL 13 is a DE safety razor that is nearly impossible to nick yourself with. It shaves more like a cartridge razor than the Leaf and a LOT less likely to cut you. If you buy a leaf razor for head shaving buy the leaf twig.

    I have used the leaf razor a Month for shaving my head with 3 different brands of blades and to my dissapointment, after every shave, i have ended up with heavily irritated skin and small to big cuts. I have never experienced this kind of problems with cartridge razors in the past. I really wanted this to work because I was tired of paying €20'- for 10 Gillette razor cartridges. But right now I'm in bed with a head that feels like a pack of wild cats pulled the skin back surrounded with bloody toiletpapier to match and I look at my €100,- razor, I look at my life and I wonder where it all went wrong.

    I think I have used Leaf Shave +30 times and I had 0 cuts and 0 irritations.
    With all razors that use DE blades it is almost always the best practice to go with the grain on the first pass,
    that is to reduce the feeling of tugging later on in the shave.

      If you like the flexibility feature go for the leaf, otherwise you're better off the twig

    Are you still using this product? I’m thinking of purchasing it, I’m a big fan of Gillette Fusion Proglide. Would you say it’s worth the investment?

      I bought a $6 Wilkinson sword classic DE safety razor and its better than this in my opinion. I'll have a full video up soon but in short I think persistence is KEY for using a DE safety razor for head shaving. I tried an tried and it sucked but once I got the technique down its awesome now.

      Hi I've just started shaving my head with a wilkinson sword classic DE razor and can't get a bbs shave. I get a bbs shave with a cartridge razor but its very expensive. Would it be worth trying this leaf shave or could trying different blades in my DE razor be worth a try? Your channel is fantastic btw!

    So with a blade system like this you want to do with then across then against. If you start out against you will get pulling/ tugging

    The Gillette fusion is miles better than leaf razor. I regret buying mine. I’m waiting on the astra blades to give it another try but if those don’t cut it I’m going to see if I can return it.

    • @Baldcafe
      @Baldcafe  3 года назад

      What do you prioritize in terms of your razor? The Gillette is a very simple out of the box product for sure. I just couldn’t justify the cost and how wasteful it feels using one cartridge for 3-4 head shaves then changing. I did adjust my shaving technique a little with the leaf too. I no longer go mad with short shaving strokes trying to get the job done ASAP. I take my time with it a bit more, enjoy it more if you like 😂 long easy strokes 👍 hopefully those Astras will help you out a bit. All the best.

      @@BaldcafeThanks for the reply. I have never used no other razor than the Gillette fusion till I got the leaf razor. Perhaps I do need to take my time and look at it on the long run by saving money on blades because those Gillette ain’t cheap 😂. I did base my comparison on the speed of the shave which isn’t a big deal. I really like the design of the leaf razor. Can’t wait to try it with the astra blades.
