I'm 65 years old and never Even conceived of the fact that grass could have sugar in it. You're amazing!. Thank you for teaching me so many things. Even though I don't have any horses, only cats!
Sugar = energy, how else does a horse get it! They have to eat a LOT of it, also to get enough protein as they don't eat meat. Cats are almost the exact opposite! Cats are obligate carnivores and can't taste sugar!
@@feiryfellaNot all horses can eat a lot of fresh grass, especially in the spring. They can get laminitis which is an extremely painful foot condition. That is why Nigel is in the dry lot and why she waited until the spring grass had grown out a bit before turning the horses out.
@@feiryfella Cats eat grass too. But for a few different reasons. The most popularly held notion is to help with removal of fur they ingest when cleaning; but I've also noticed that their litter tray droppings smell a lot less after chomping on some grass. I offer couch grass to them once a week usually. I suspect, when feral, they consume small amounts of grass to decrease their feces' smells so that predators don't track them as easily. Liquid chlorophyll, from plant matter like spirulina etc. in human foods and drinks, drastically reduces human body odour, eliminates it almost entirely, so that one doesn't even need deodorants.

I was impressed with Huckleberry's story. How he was brought in, to the emergency vet where you worked, with a badly broken leg. He was needing expensive surgery his owner couldn't afford, so it was for euthanasia. Instead you bought Huck from his owner and got him all the care he needed. What amazing compassion you have for critters.
Isn’t it amazing how good she is with the animals she cares about ! Not only that she’s pretty knowledgeable on every level also !!! Truly impressive!!
HOLY SMOKES.......,Since Nigel's full body clip, he not only looks fantastic, he looks more like a small horse rather than a fuzzy pony❤ I love both looks and. can't seem to pick a favorite! Also glad to see him feeling so good! God bless........😊❤😊❤❤
Nigel is strutting his stuff!! Skeletor is being his WILD SELF!! What more can you ask for in the day of the life of The Clever Cowgirl!! What A LIFE INDEED!!
Someone is going to get a very special mare in Prim. Thank you for giving her shelter and I know you’ll take good care in finding her a person of her own.
Do you ever hear your mother’s voice when you say things like Huckleberry “loosing his privileges” and getting a time out in the truck “to think about his behavior”? 🤣🤣 Tiny is so funny. She truly knows her job is to run the whole place - or so she thinks. She really keeps an eye on everything and lets you know about it! I look forward to each and every one of your videos and learn so much. Thank you clever cowgirl!
Watching this video makes me wonder how horses, with the potential sensitivity to grass sugar, allergies etc and nobody watching over their health in this way, ever survived as a wild species.
You are the smartest horse mom! They all look so healthy. I didn't know about time of day and grass sugar level. New knowledge. Will there be a pop quiz?
I love the way you monitor diets so carefully and individually. I don’t have a lot of experience with horses but in dogs and probably with cats, I don’t generally like senior foods because the filler they put in is usually junk.
Good luck for boot hunting. I was impressed that all the boys came back into the dry lot from the grass so quickly - I had expected them to go a little more "Nigel", actually.
Scarlett is such a neat, particular lady! Nigel - what you've done for this little guy is beyond heartwarming. So frisky and enjoying his wonderful retirement home.💗💖
Prim! When she's ready, somebody's going to get a gorgeous horse! I love that tiny white dot on Pete's forehead. And Nigel? What an adorable and completely lovable Tasmanian Devil!
Good morning from New Zealand city girl. I look forward to your daily videos which I watch while having my first coffee of the day. Love to Nigel and the rest of the gang.
For one person you have alot alot of work girl. Really enjoy your bits of humor. You really know each of your horses personalities and have soo much patience. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us

I learn so much watching your videos i never knew grass had sugar thank you for teaching a 73 year old new things. You are a special person bl3ss you I just love Tiny
Thank you for a visit and report on future plans for the horses under your care. I have full confidence that your decisions are best for all concerned. The list of things to do is always longer than the shortness of each day. Your example of how you handle it is a lesson in of itself. ☘
Happy hunting - for new/new to you boots! So glad to see your boyz getting out on the grass. Yay!! Love to see all the characters. It’ll be even more fun when Ziggy’s there too. ❤❤
Thanks for another super interesting video and updates. The music was great. It's fun to see how the horses run back into the dry lots for food. Nigel needs so much patience. It's so nice to see him wearing his blanket in the stall when it is raining. Also neat you and Tiny got a good shaky plate rest break. You are a fantastic horse mom. All of your horses are so lucky!
Wrote a long comment and deleted by accident 😢. You are amazing. If I had a penny for every time I thought this I would be doing pretty good. 😊. Today the information on grass was super good. Who knew grass had sugar & that the level changed at times of day??? You just keep me intrigued with the amount you know of nature and horses. You are so attentive to all their various needs . Poor Nigel not being able to see. I know he will do well with you no matter what. I also love hearing your thought about what each horse is feeling and the way they are acting…especially Tiny. I love cats. I love all your animals. They are very personal to me. Thanks for a sweet video. God bless you and your animal family!!! ✨💁🏻♀️

Yes, I would do the same, his floppy stallion neck, could be a bit to heavy for him to carry about. He would look more comfortable with. Hogged mane, but, on the other hand it does keep the damn flies away . Thsnk you for loving this naughty boy, I am sure somewhere im his brain does like you at least, especially because you bring him nice good etc. awe.❤❤
You can just see the high athlete in Skelator! What a boy... I have said it before but oh it is so striking! Glorious head and what energy! A high performance horse.
Thanks CC for the great tour of 1st day out on pasture, Huckleberry getting the call of the wild coyotes, each horse having his own way with the feed, the whole infinity of nutritional and life quality concerns you have! You're a horse supermom who deserves a nice homestead of your own! I'm praying for a nice land for you with better weather and good water!🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏
I'm surprised you got those guys to come in! But that's good, they listen to you. Nigel cracks me up, feisty little guy, even at his age! haha Thanks for sharing!❤
Huckleberry gives serous side eye when he’s in trouble. My girl cops an attitude, too. Love seeing Nigel strut his stuff. Here’s to good boot vibes! I need some, too.
CC I want you to know, whenever Skelly is being his playful self I always hear the classic skeletor laugh and can't picture him sounding anything else.
Spring how about PASTURE time. Great. Huckleberry feeling spring is up to mischief. Loved watching boys into yummy grass. Nigel is a purse size stud lol thank you
Just wanted to say…love what you do and the care with which you do it. Love and enjoy all the horses, Tiny and Huckleberry. Your videos sincerely bring a smile and joy to my day - thank you😊💕
Hi Clever. Montana is a storyline. Nigel the longhaired old man. Huckleberry the coyote wannabee. The horses....well.... the gang of anything that goes. You are Godmother. I am your disciple. Accurate story😂❤
What a great explanation of how the grass becomes too full of sugars...and how to prevent laminitis with a graduated return to grass, starting with the early morning least sugary grass. Thanks, I don't think it's ever been so well described to me before! :)
Nigel is like the chihuahua of horses!
ROFL as a former Chihuahua person I can attest that you are very right.
😂😂😂❤

Exactly!!

EVERY TIME YOU CALL NIGEL A LITTLE TURD IT MAKES ME LAUGH !
Yeah, that cracks me up too. 😅
Nigel looks like a little toy horse that a child would carry around and play. Almost fairytale like. He is just too cute.
I agree! Love Nigel 😁💕

Prim is such a lovely mare and whoever is allowed to adopt her will be so very fortunate.
Absolutely!!
Love watching your channel. You explain things so well. You have a very nice speaking voice. Your horses are great too.
I can certainly agree with/ you, ramonarichwood!
I agree, CC's voice is very easy on the ear.
Nigel is literally one in a million. What a beautiful, graceful and special little pony
Is his a pony or a miniature horse? I think of ponies as round with thick legs and necks.
This video is like a ray of sunshine (despite the nasty weather), thank you so much! 🌞❤
Funny how the boys create a traffic jam by only walking onto the grass far enough to get their first bite! ❤
Tiny likes Nigel so much because they both understand what it’s like to be the little guy
Skeletor has a date with the quarantine mare in his future. I so want him to fully recover and see what he can do!
They are old friends, he will be calmer over there for sure!
@@TheCleverCowgirl oh yeah - of course! Excellent plan.
Poor Skeletor, he just wants to be his goofy self. He's like the class clown.
That forgetting something and having to go back for it - you'll just have to laugh at yourself because it doesn't get any better! ❤
Those little glances back at you on the way to the truck, he knows he's been a naughty boy
Absolutely 😂
Someone is going to get a very special mare in Prim. Thank you for giving her shelter and I know you’ll take good care in finding her a person of her own.
And she’s so pretty
Nigel is a darling little Pixie Devil. You were so lucky to find him Clever.

Me too.
Cant wait for ziggy to come out of quarantine and join all the critters
You are the smartest horse mom! They all look so healthy. I didn't know about time of day and grass sugar level. New knowledge. Will there be a pop quiz?
That s just what I thought, new one on me who would have thought grass growth was so complicated and clever!
I didn’t realize that sugar levels in grass fluctuated during the day
I love the way you monitor diets so carefully and individually. I don’t have a lot of experience with horses but in dogs and probably with cats, I don’t generally like senior foods because the filler they put in is usually junk.
Thanks for the info.
1:16 I truly appreciate how dogs look guilty.
Well fed animals.
Speaks volumes about the human looking after them.
God, Skeletor slipping there nearly gave me a heartattack 😭
Me to !
Good luck for boot hunting.

Nigel is so cute. It's a shame that he doesn't like to be pampered.
I’m so impressed with your management of your horse’s nutrition.
Do we all love Nigel because he’s a cute old guy, or because we feel sorry for him going blind, or because he’s such a delightful jerk in his old age?
😊 Yes!
Because he's a cute delightful jerk!
