15:30 I actually discovered that a long time ago. I was playing with my friends and we had a 4-man Double-Battle. Two of us were playing on Black 2 and the other two had Black and White. When my friend send out his Black-Kyurem on my screen it looked normal, but on my friends screen with Pokemon White he only saw a normal Kyurem. And whats even more interesting was when the Black-Kyurem used his signature Move Freeze Shock it actually had the animation for it even in Pokemon Black and White. It looked kinda different but it was definitly the right animation.
That's really strange. Maybe Freeze Shock was a move in the code that was never given to any Pokemon, but then in Black 2 and White 2 they decided to give it to Black-Kyurem?

Not gonna lie I honestly thought this was common knowledge. In the games code, pokemon that were to get an alternate form in the sequels had a number identifying the amount of alternates they would have (those being the genies, kyurem, and keldeo. i think genesect's drives also counted as formes but those were already in the game). The same thing is true with diamond/pearl and then the alternate formes added in platinum. As for the moves, game freak likely already had the entire generation planned out unlike gens 1 and 2, so they were in the games code to keep everything compatible. My friend and I actually found the moves way back in 2011, we used to hack in weird and crazy pokemon using pokesav and some other program that would send them to your games, and on a move list we found them. I had a shiny scizor with freeze shock and ice burn lol. tcrf.net/Pokémon_Black_and_White This page should mention all of this stuff, I believe.

If you had a Mega Steelix but I had Y version, we literally can't battle using that Pokemon. I guess they got a bit lazier and just prevented connection with newer formes/items etc in later generations but this is just more recent memory I guess.
Thundurus has to be my favorite out of the trio, being one of the few Electric/Flying types we have. His other form is also pretty neat. I'm happy to have my own shiny one in Ultra Moon. Congrats on your thunder genie, my dude!
It does that for the Kyurem fusions as well, in BW it’s seen as regular Kyurem, but then the jig is up when it uses moves like fusion flare, or it’s ice beams hit way too hard. I believe it also used to do that for Giratina origin and Rotom forms when fighting a Platinum player from DP, it’ll show as Giratina altered or regular rotom. This might be why they didn’t change the rotom forms typing until gen 5, to avoid confusion

I got inspired to try this hunt in my own White version after seeing your Pokédex checking method to confirm the shininess. By sheer ridiculous luck and the grace of RNGesus, I managed to get a shiny Thundurus to spawn in 93 SRs. I would never have even considered hunting for it in the first place without stumbling on this vid, so thank you!

Stop wasting your life time. If you want some easy shinies, go do some raids online in Sw/Sh. Been doing this for like 2 weeks and I got like almost 20 shinies. Including Volcarona and many other AMAZING shinies.

Congrats man, I'm still doing random encounters on mine for koffing. I always loved gen 2 shiny colors and koffing is currently one of my favorites right now.

In gen 6, 7 and 8 you can also use the dex when hunting the fossils. It's quite easy to get a big bunch of fossils in X and Y (Lileep in X)... and when they are sent straight to a box there's no nickname question. But there's no real point using the dex method in gen 7/8 as you see the mons right after reviving them anyways. (you can use it to make sure you didn't miss one tho) Oh and GZ on the shiny!
It always makes me sad when I see this shiny because I got it when I was a kid just remembered it had a different colour thought nothing of it and sold the game with it on when I was young

I gave up my volcarona relic castle SR hunt in white 2 and honestly. I might get either white 2 or black 2 secondary cartridges just to try hunting it again cause i have massive regret in giving up cause I was getting pretty close to heightened chances.
I know i’m late and nobody cares but Thundurus was my first shiny ever completly random ( No SRs ) I was 6 and i thought that he had “strange stars” because it was a legendary, then i understood that he was very special and rare, 10 years later i’m still proud of that :) i’m really close to shiny Thundurus and i’m happy you caught it too But, excluding a Random Shiny Sandile always in PKMN White, i didn’t find any random shiny in the past 6/7 years, then in Pokemon Sun i found a random shiny Mareanie in an egg during breeding, and it was actually a 29 IVS :)
seems the ability and stats are the therian forme's stats even on White 1 since the therian forme's have abilities that are not new and thus W1 has no issue with them. Basically W1 is just not displaying the Therian sprite since it is not in the game but everything else should be correct. Neat.

Mathinus Wolters there are multiple ways to personally I use an app called Pokétch which keeps track of your hunts to count for every encounter all you have to do is tap on the screen

I have a question! I just got myself a copy of White after seeing this video. I want to hunt a Shiny Thundy too! But the thing is, I don't have anyone to trade with for a Thundurus so i can't register the pokedex entry. Does that mean i can't do this hunt? And for some reason, there's no "form" tab on my White Pokedex. Or does that come later in the game? i just started and its my first time playing Gen V so sorry for the noob-ish questions haha
I assume all the stats and such are the same as they should be for the therian forms but it just appears as the other forms in the first game since they dont have the right sprites available.

Scrolling is not needed as itll just tell you 'Shiny seen : 1'

I think you can still hunt it, you just will have to press a few more buttons since you won't have the thundorus entry on tge dex to register
