Been watching for a while now, love the show! I'm sure I am not the first to mention the fact that Comics are great but the daughter/father relationship is priceless!
Agree love them both. So glad there here on RUclips ❤️ people make a difference in people’s lives and you both do for me being here. Thank you sincerely
Being from Canada I can honestly say that I have never seen a Mark Jewellers - ever. Heard tons about them but they were not a thing up here in the Great White North (Geddy Lee reference for all those that care) due to the general lack of US service personal. Keep up the excellent work.
I picked up a raw Fantastic Four 149 Mark Jewelers raw about a year ago for $65. I sent it off to be graded at CGC, and it came back a 9.8. The only knock is it has OW/W pages. It looks good with my FF 152 & FF 153 CGC 9.0 MJ slabs.
Imagine my surprise when I got a Bronze Age Phantom Stranger Mark Jewelers from a bigggg online dealer only to be surprised with an unlabeled Double Cover!
I have a few of these national diamond adds in my early Fantastic Four collection.
i never realized until the last few years that so many other folks collect double covers,..! i bought a double cover pre code crime crime must pay the penalty by ace that has bank robbers w/the clownface halloween masks,......i try to buy any vintage double covers if affordable,...good point
I found an ASM #307 1988 Ark Jewelers. I never knew they had them thos late in publishing.
Love the fact that you guys aren’t the broken records most of the others are.. love that you bring out books that others won’t take the time too. Love it when you bring out something cool that I’ve never seen before
Had a buuunch of green lantern mark jewelers. . lived right next to Aberdeen proving grounds for years
Im pretty sure New Mutants 98 was the last major key with an MJ insert. Rachel is stunning as always. 🍻
I've got a double cover of Scumbag 14 cover B from 2022. I was pretty surprised that that happened with such a modern book!
Damn… I wish I could pick up a book and tell straight away it’s a MJ copy
Yes, collectors are sleeping on double covers. I regret those that ive sold. I still have highgrade double covers of JLA #107, Midnight Tales #1, Rowlf #1.
Another fun and informative video. Thank you.
Great show guys ❤ I hunt for mark jewellers and double covers . Misprints recalled etc how about a show on tatooz from all same month and year 84 I think maybe wrong but really cool when you find em keep em coming ❤
Recently went through my ASM collection and found #134, 174, 180, 193 with Mark Jewelers inserts. These were bought around 1980 in the UK.
Nice find!
I sold a National diamond distribution ASM 316. Just sold it as a mark jewelers, didn’t consider it was different
YOU MAKE COMICS COLLECTING FUN....THANKS FOR THAT AND ALL THE INFO....
Keep up the great work!!!
I have a Conan 241 mark jeweler and I had no idea for 2 years one spine tick probably 9.6. My dad was in the military so I don’t think I would ever sell it
Very cool episode, always watch you guys. Thanks for MJ info!
Nice Video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the insight you provide in your videos. Your channel and content are very unique.
As far as autos go,it's always going to depend on the cover to me,some books I prefer to not have scribbled on!! Ok...I'm done,I'll shut my pie hole 😂
Thanks for commenting!!
I have many many comics books but I never had a double cover but I have one mark’s jewelry insert.
I was a military brat in Germany in the late 70s to mid 80s. I bought my comics at the base book store, the Stars and Stripes. I don't remember the PX/BX selling comics. The star stamp you are talking about was put there by the clerk when you purchased the book.
As a kid, I hated the inserts. As an adult, not so much.
My buddy Chris found a dbl digit Batman dbl cover, even had a Joker cover. Mark jewelers are easy, look at the top by the spine, there's a colored spot!!
Thanks for that tidbit! I’m learning tons of stuff from these comments!
I have a Batman 251 with the Mark Jeweler’s insert. I wish it was a higher grade. As is, it may be a 6.5-7.0.
Awesome data. The star stamps are neat to find and very rare. Thank you for your content. Love the two of you.
I know I tried to remove MJ adds a couple of times in the early 90’s but it was too hard to not damage the book with a butter knife and pliers. True story.
I still got some MJ’s but I’m not going through 2,000 old books to look. I’ll let my heirs have all the fun!
To my recent suprise, most of my todd mcfarlane ASMs are mark jewelers. A few are doubles.
Those are both popular and valuable!
@@futurepastvintagecollectables
Last year I was shocked to learn how much some ASMs were going for. After the crash of the 90s, I didn't think my collection was going to be worth much. All the crap late 90s artwork really turned me off.
I've started to invest in protecting my collection. I've even sent a few of my favorites CGC for signatures and grading. Looking forward to a McFarlane signing.
Reexamining my collection has brought me back to buying comics. I'm finding the artwork fantastic with some good writing.
Have you guys ever seen that octuple-cover ASM #361 that was graded a 9.9? lol. There's another one with 6 covers out there, I think.
I saw it on a comic Tom video. What a fluke comic!
Very helpful.... try to price out one now
I'm a military brat and started collecting when we were in Italy. The star was stamped on the book by the cashier to show it was sold.
I had x-men 103-143 and if they had a marks jeweler I tore it out. 😢
In books it was a bit of a tradition to line out the writer credit on the title page and sign under it.
Thanks for this information! Last year, I found 2 MJ copies of Star Wars 107 (last 80’s issue so minor key) and had no clue how to value them (1 is even a CGC slab that says Mark Jewelers on label). Other book is at CGC now with a special request to add same note (hope they honor the request). You have given me a rough ballpark number (couldn’t find any sales data). Much appreciated!
You can press them with SRP against the lick and stick.
Honestly never liked the newsstand or mark jewelers copies. Collectors are nuts 😂😂😂
Ive also had low grade skin mags woth mj ads on the back cover. Where else did they advertise. Are there archies out there with mj inserts. If i were mj thats where i would have spent my money. Ive owned over 100k comics probably less than 10 with double covers.
I pressed a copy of Miracle Man #23 and was horrified to learn that you have to do lick'n'stick comics differently. My page stuck, but after a month or so it just unstuck itself
That’s interesting!
Why is S.L. Jackson there?
That's part of the blooper, right ?😂
It’s the mystery of looking into the briefcase in pulp fiction being simular to looking into a comic and finding a MJ insert.
I got some araks that were mark jewelers. In light of recent events if i sell them for the 5 they go for what are the odds that insert ends up in a spiderman 300?
Have ever handled a book, felt the thickness was not right, and found out either it was missing pages or had an extra cover?
I haven’t run across a lot of books with missing pages, but I have felt books that didn’t feel right. I deal mostly with bronze and copper.
SSM 8.5 mark jewelers? 600 bucks
Mark Jewelers are somewhat rare. Double covers are rarer. What about a double Mark Jewelers?
Very true. Regional price variants are pretty tough too. I didn’t mention that in this particular video, but they seem to be non-existent in collections I pick up.
@@futurepastvintagecollectables yeah. You would have to get the collection probably from the region they were distributed in. I did find the Firestorm book with the Superman test logo in a dollar bin at a show.
I recently acquired a high-grade stack of raw Mark Jewelers DC Ghosts. They are from later in the run, so probably not the most sought after issues. I have been holding off on having them graded because of the recent scandal, but many/most are NM+ and better. Since you are also a fan of BA DC Horror, I was wondering if you have come across any BA DC Horror MJ in the many collections you acquire?
I have a few weird war tales MJs.
Great to learn more about the MJ’s - quick question do you ship internationally or are you claim sales only for US based collectors ?
Yes! We ship to Australia, UK, Canada. Where are you located?
@@futurepastvintagecollectables - UK
Awesome - U.K.
I have some comics from 1941 with a giant star stamp. Do you know what thos is? Is it a PX stamp?
What books are that? Are they in high grade?
@@futurepastvintagecollectables no low grade Sparkler Comics #4 and 6.
Are date stamps more prevalent than double covers?
Oh heck yes.
Are there any D.C mark jeweler books.
Yes
Most of mine are DC
8.5 goes for 400+
8.5 Spider-Man mj. Will be $5645!!!!!
Oh boy-I’m rich.
What grade is "Super High Grade"? 11.0 😅
It depends on the era. A VF- is super high grade for a 40s book.
High grade is a pretty broad range anywhere from VF’ish to Mint. I would consider “super high grade” as being anything above NM. 👍
Stop pushing the ridiculous ads for junk jewelry
Haha
Thanks for the interesting info.
Hi!
