sometimes ya just wanna dance the tension out and shake dat fat bum.
I made this fairly quickly tonight.
The beat especially.
An Ableton drum kit with a big PHAT kick.
Added some "skittery" break beat stuff and just sat back, thinking, "Yeah, I'd feckin dance to this!" (in da clerb)
The rest of the sound design / noise / atmospheric stuff also came together fairly quick.
Some samples, chopped up. Lots of reverbs and delays. Easy enough.
It's great when you find yourself removing little bits and thinking, "No, it needs even less!" or simplifying parts that were becoming muddled and complex.
Definitely feeling some development and growth happening in my music production, this JAMuary,.
I had a great conversation about ANGER today. Interesting to consider how it's actually quite toxic to repress our own anger, or the anger of others: Anger is a valid emotion, yet we often don't let people express it.
Another aspect of this conversation: Are there many places in the world where we can go to have true privacy? Places where we can literally scream into the void? Surveillance culture: CCTV / mobiles tracking our every move etc. And: Where can we go to experience silence?
Maybe that's what subconsciously led me to grabbing this footage of Divis Mountain.
