I think the argument that leather doesn't get permanently damaged by exposure to water comes from the observation of leatherworkers wetmolding leather by soaking the leather in water beforehand. However, it must also be noted that the wetmolded leathers are then left to air dry for days or even weeks. Only saturate your leathers with water if you're determined to not be bothering it until it is completely dried.
Heya Teik I was wondering how your Numzaan boots had been getting along so I was glad to see this vid. I have had mine for about a month now and have been using them as a motorcycle and general kick around boot and loving them so far. I did get mine with the lug sole and just so you and your viewers know the lug sole on the Numzaan is a much softer compound than on their other lug sole offerings. Gareth talks about the change in several of his vids talking about them. Anyway always great and informative work you do here. Thanks for your efforts!
Would it be out of the range of the channel to review their vellie or shoelli? I'm interested in these, and you have the most thorough and unbiased reviews by far.
I too would be interested in this. I wish for something that is as light as a sneaker yet has the stability of a boot. Already have a pair of african rangers but want something that's not a stiff pair of boots but not as flimsy as a sneaker!
I have both and enjoy both. The Velli has the feel of the old Skate shoes I used to ware when young as far as fit and being tough. The sholiee is a much narrower last and is more like the fit of a pair of old vans as far as simple and low. Both are EXTREMELY wel built and I enjoy and ware both often. The Vellies are way more comfortable though.
I need to look around for it...but I swear I read somewhere that Jim Green doesn't recommend Mink Oil. Might have been in one of their RUclips videos? I did ask why but never got a reply back. I've used mink oil on my shoes and boots for 40+ years now with no problems.
Great job in sharing the detail. Enjoyable Sunday evening watch. Always wonder if one should also clean the inner leather / fabric with damp water and saddle soap, follow with some leather conditioning? Especially when the fibre of the leather is facing the inner shoe (don’t know the better description), wouldn’t it help absorption and protect the leather better? Thanks!
I don't do heavy work with my boots, but I brush the out-sole every time I came home with all purpose cleaning spray before I store all my boots indoor.
I enjoy your videos. Very detailed. I have a question but not related to this video. Is there an easy way to change the colour of a boot. I have the brown Thursdays boots but it’s a more of a reddish brown which I’m not too crazy about. Thanks in advance
Saddle soap and mink oil is what I use for every piece of leather I own. Jackets. Saddle bags. Leather pants.
If you’re using them as work boots can’t worry about scratches and scuffs. You should see my work boots.
Teik uses basic saddle soap and mink oil. No boutique products.
My person opinion - most of the boutique products are just mixes of oils and waxes, so do just about the same thing as mink oil.
@@kd5byb That's almost like saying every dry pasta is the same.
Okay, now back to Teik trying on jeans.

I’ve seen the video Jim green put out where they brought the color back using their leather balm and I was so surprised!
This way of cleaning boots and telling their story is very beautiful.
Thank you!
I have the Artisans and Son kit, which also includes oil and conditioner. Really good stuff.
Get some Obenuafs oil and leather protectant.
Nice have the same boots I love them thank you for the update

@@gecko4310 a dark brown boot cream may dampen that slight burgundy undertone. A more drastic and permanent approach is to dye it brown or black.
Would you ever consider using Obenhoff’s on your Jim Greens?
@@Al_lan yes
you should try Sno-Seal on them once it gets cold!
