Bobe Yerima _ AFO - AKOM (official video directed by SM Durand)

BOBE Mbang alias AFO AKOM,is one of our greatest cultural symbols and artefacts that was stolen from the Kom Palace in the Kom Fondom in the N.W. Region of Cameroon in 1966 among many others in Africa.
AFO AKOM was created by one of the first Fons of Kom FOYN YUH FUNKUN I who ruled between 1885 and 1911.
FOYN YUH FUNKUN I was a kava and in his double capacity as tailor, he created the Kom traditional regalia which called today as TOGHU
Roughly 7 years after, AFO AKOM was discovered in an African museum in the United States of America. When AFO AKOM began CRYING FOR SALVATION because the Environment in which he found himself without his wife and children wasn't his natural Environment.
This cry for salvation had to draw the attention of the international community and people were rushing to see the mystical destruction that
AFO AKOM was doing to other statues in that museum .
Fortunately, Cameroon's Ambassador to the USA and a doctor already on retirement who had worked with the Mbingo Hospital in Kom recognized the statue and gave the name AFO AKOM which means, “Something from Kom” and the news of the discovery fell in the ears of the the first president of Cameroon Amadou Ahidjo who gave 48h for the return.
