In this DCS: F-16C Viper video, learn how to use the M61A1 20mm cannon to strafe ground targets and use unguided rockets. This is from a pre-release build and is very much work-in-progress. We plan to release the Early Access version in early Autumn 2019.

My hats off to ED for a great sim and all the man hours it must have taken to pull it together. The manuals alone seem like an accomplishment in themselves, great graphics and gameplay too! I just bought the F-16 and its a blast. The P-51 is my other favorite. You can do a lot with a n simple joystick and a keyboard but the F-16 cries for a something with a throttle. Off to the store. Excellent work, ED! ( Blowin' stuff up is fun! )

I know many will say that EA is a bad idea and that they would rather wait another 12, 24 months until a sim is fully complete. I accept that. But it's sort of like repeat Christmas when new features are released every few weeks. I appreciate having the choice to jump on early and be part of that development.

The pre-release sale is till September 25th(Steam), and autumn runs from September 23rd to December 21st. They are saying early autumn which should put the release before October 23rd, hopefully sooner.

I don't think the Air Force has used unguided rockets operationally with the Block 50 F-16's in a long time, if not ever.
I know a few Viper pilots that will disagree with ya.
@@MattWagner I'm going off my anecdote of never seeing any videos or pictures of operational (not test) Block 50s with rocket pods, firing then or otherwise. But it would certainly be cool to see some if you know of any.

After spending all that time with the F-18, it's jarring to see the 'new' location of the A/A - A/G master modes and the stores being on the right (though I guess you can still swap MFDs around?). At least the master arm is in the same(ish) location! :D

OK, I DEFINITELY need better eyes. I could not see ANY of those trucks you were shooting at Wags! :-( I can understand why fighter pilots NEED to have good eyesight now... Other than that, great to see the Fighting Falcon in action again and I can't wait for her to come out. I'll have gone full circle with her, since my very first ever aircombat sim decades ago was Falcon 3.0! Bring her on! :-)

Hey Matt! Just a quick question: Who are the teams behind these new jets? I can't seem to find out who has developed my wonderful F/A 18C or this deadly snake of a jet! Wonderful work by the way, your videos have made the sting of my Hornet all that much sweeter.
Please be specific which new jets you are referring to. The Hornet and Viper are done by Eagle Dynamics.

Hey Matt, is this training implemented in game? Because right now (22 July 2020) I only see Start Up, Taxi/Take Off, Landing, Navigation, and various bombing courses under training. Could really use some directions on how to use the other weapons, especially missiles, rockets, TGP, and the gun.

Thrustmaster needs to start making the cougar stick again it is a F-16 replica of the stick and throttle, or an updated version of the throttle with it's own USB plug.
The Warthog stick is about the same as the Cougar stick, you can get a TQS on e-bay and Realsimulator has a TQS USB adapter.
Parts for my old TQS just arrived... time to get soldering!
I followed your video, but I can fire the gun! The Boresight Cross has a red circle around it. What can it be?
Please make sure you have the master arm switch set to ARM and you are pressing the second detent of the gun trigger, not just the first. Thanks
It sounds like you have GAME mode enabled in Options.

Hey! Where is today's video? We are used to see F16 everyday now ^^
When firing my cannons I cannot see the bullets. I see the bullets hitting the target but it's as if the tracer effect is off. Any ideas?

With DCS you need a lot patience. But its worth the wait. They do a great job. There is nothing comparable out there.

It sucks you cant use the targeting pod to mark a target for a strafe run
When I do a bombing run with my clusters and then switch to to guns, I lose all control of the targeting pod and it no longer looks at my target, really sucks and cant understand why you wouldnt be able to use it that way
The F16 is cool and all but how about some new rotary wing stuff? Like a Blackhawk? Just throwing it out there...

No, each press of the weapon release button releases the number of set rockets. The slant range indication just provides you a heads up of target range.

I'm sure there's some practical reason they consistently seem to put the AMRAAMs on the wingtips of the F-16, but it always looks so disproportionate and ungainly to me.
Like c'mon, SURELY Sidewinders would look better there and not disturb its clean silhouette. I want my Viper to be A E S T H E T I C

I hope we haven't started a trend where a teaser is teased. While there is a large amount of excitement about having the F16 please for the love of god don't pretend you need to hype up a premier for something as simple as this. The collective eyeroll is slowing the spin of the earth.

I can't find the video. It also helped reduce stress on the wing at high speeds. The wings would flutter with the AIM 9's mounted there and would cause or reduce the lifespan of the wing. I just watched the video several weeks ago.

The A-10 also can't select ripple on the ground, and I must say it's quite annoying. Will the F-16 be getting ripple selection for rocket pods? If so, is there any chance of it being backported to the A-10? I understand if not, codebases can be problematic and you're not obligated to do anything, but I'd like to know the chances.
This has nothing to do with coding, but rather the fact that it is an aircraft limitation IRL. Guess it's an Air Force thing.....
