I became a fan after he bodied that correspondence dinner. He was seriously the best I've seen do it. Good for him moving on and not staying in limbo.

Whoever is Roy's manager is pretty genius. Everybody is gunning for Roy to get this job, Jordan Klepper talks candidly about him, Jon Stewart does a rare appearance of support, other correspondents clear the way for him.
And then Comedy Central comes out and gets cute.
Him leaving the show has created this huge void as far as I'm concerned. Knowing he's not there makes me want to watch the show less. And I know I'm not alone.
By doing this, hopefully they see a very strong "you only miss something when it's gone" kind of feeling. And he gets the appreciation he deserves. Right now, he's not, but I see it approaching that way regardless.
Roy is the genius. Why your need to transfer that to some 'handler'.
When Jon Stewart himself shows up as a goddamn Jedi Master to support him getting the gig you would think Comedy Central would have listened...

I’m close to Roy or Leslie getting that next seat on the Daily Show. I’m happy for whoever from then will get the show. But again, there can only be one that could get that chair
What I'll really miss is his Daily Show Beyond The Scenes podcast. There you not only got his funny-as-hell side, but more of the depth of his intelligence, empathy and journalistic skill. I hope the Daily Show comes to it's senses. If not, Roy gon be alright and take his magnificence to a new, better platform.

I can read between the lines. He wanted the Daily Show, but they didn't want to make him a permanent host. He's not about to wait around and see what happens next. He's appreciative of the exposure and he'll move on.

I’m gonna miss him cause I literally watched the daily show for Trevor and then for him. I’m gonna be so sad! I do hope they bring him back in January but if not / I pray something better comes along cause I need him in my daily life!!
Roy you are super talented and you know this. What you bring to the correspondence role is truly a gift... If they didn't see or recognize it, maybe it was because they weren't supposed to.

Roy Wood Jr. deserves his place as one of the most beloved thinkers on the scene today, and while he's one of my favorite comedians, he does so much more than that. Bless the man, and all he contributes for the rest of us.

I would literally go back to watching TDS religiously if Roy is the host. Nothing against Trevor, but when Jon Stewart left I was too heart broken to watch. When Roy, my favorite comedian, was possibly going to be the new host ... I was so happy! PLEASE, I need him to be the permanent host!!!
If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it Comedy Central! I appreciate that RWJ did an amazing job as guest host and then removed himself. Not to mention that stellar performance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner! May Roy's star shine bright and he be paid his worth.
