I love his lyrical response to Tracey Thorn's song "Oh Jens, Oh Jens Your songs seem to look through a different lens You're still so young Love ends just as easy as it's begun".
Being a diehard fan of Morrissey's, I think it pays true homage to Jens' song writing ability if by listening to his lyrics you are reminded of Manchester's finest.
jens lekman - become someone else's 10/12/2019 "The bats are sucking on cherries dangling from the trees Hasn't anyone told you what your fangs are for, little buddies That lonesome feeling And what it tells us Sleeping on my arm 'til it becomes someone else's" and a quick note: this may not be my favorite jens song (but like, is that important? i always trouble myself with rankings and stuff, first world problems right? let's stay on the course here) - but that 2:02 part always makes me fall in love. so sweet and tender, human before anything, the music that really had the most impact on how i see the world, people, my own selfish ego sometimes, love, relationships, beauty and lust for life (im sounding cheesy) that can be found in vulnerability and sadness - jens lekman's music is on that list for sure (HERE I AM AGAIN WITH RANKINGS) JENS
Goshhh has it really been more than a decade ago? 😭😭😭😭 I remember this song playing endless on my phone after I woke up in the morning, while preparing a mental battle with a job that I abhorred but well paid 😂😂
I have always said that he doesn't sound like morrisey, but my mom entered my room when i was listening this song and she asked me if it was morrisey, damn!
As another poster mentioned, I hear this at Starbucks a lot too, ha. It's a very good song, but to compare it with Morrissey? No way. It lacks the sarcasm, subtlety, and suggestiveness that Morrissey mastered. Plus, there is no alliteration, ha. Lastly--a baseball cap? Really?? And people want to compare this guy with Morrissey.... And his Lekman's voice reminds me more of James Taylor than anyone else! Good song for sure.
Jenny came over and told me 'bout Fred "he's such a hairy bohemoth!" she said we had a drink, we had a smoke, she took off her overcoat... I kissed a girl!
This link's code ends with "Gtbg". It should be entirely random yet it says Göteborg / Gothenburg. How are the chances? Technology, you are spooking me.
+Larry hoover Yeah I must be off my head, cos I paid good money to see Morrissey in concert. He was good back in the 80's, but these days he sucks donkey feces. Jens > Morrisshit
+Firdaus Isa 😂😂😂😂 you clearly know nothing about music, and I wouldn't call £70 a ticket cheap. Jens lekman will be very lucky to achieve a quarter of what morrissey has. They're the greatest band of all time and morrissey is still selling out venues all over the world to this day! Dream on jens lekman! Haha he still plays at bars and coffee shops 😂

I love him sooo much it hurts :( Please come to Indonesia again, Mr. Lekman.

Bouncy and soothing at the same time. Keep up the good work. Love it! :-)
Special song.
I love!!!
Where was this filmed? Not in Gothenburg/Sweden at least. Maybe some Canary Island? Someone knows?

That piano man... that piano
I can't believe I missed him in Melbourne earlier this year :(
donde le doy me encorazona?

you are right!
i always hear this song at starbucks. :)
James Taylor comes to mind to me, personally.
rad
Morrissey mixed with a little Beautiful South and a side order of prefab sprout :D
GUA KANGEN THE SMITHS!!!!
wow
it's his voice :)
Ha, gee ya got me.
what happen to morrissey....
2018?
Noice !
I have always said that he doesn't sound like morrisey, but my mom entered my room when i was listening this song and she asked me if it was morrisey, damn!
Your mom is stupid
lets go play baseball, jens!! it suits ya!
better than morrisey or not dont matters. to me he is
I still don't see the connection between Jens and Morrissey. Which song of Moz comes to your mind when you listen to this song?
I hear the similarities to Morrissey, but it sounds more like Lloyd Cole & The Commotions - Jennifer She Said, circa 1988, to me.
the smits

I love Jens, but in this song when the piano vamp starts all I hear is that damn Abba song! Drats!
Jenny came over and told me 'bout Fred
"he's such a hairy bohemoth!" she said

I kissed a girl!
What does Morrissey have to do with this?
Oh!! Tracey thorn...

Technology, you are spooking me.
Sounds like Morrissey, but less hopeless. ^_^
~ Lol...
My thoughts, exactly. :)
am I crazy in thinking he looks a bit like Thom Yorke?
Hmm, he has a face with eyes a nose and a mouth, but that's pretty much where any resemblance ends.
Which has nothing to do with Jens Lekman.
It's like a new James Taylor.
Sure.
Moz comment.
Shoeless Joe? Is that you?
This is Morrissey. Jens is Morrissey.
You're right. Although Morrissey's song's are more haunting and kind of freaky, like "Girlfriend in a Coma" or "Every Day is Like Sunday."
I think Jens has a more instinctive natural approach than Morrisey. But the result is the same. Insanely good.
Can't believe you guys are comparing him to Morrissey. Jens Lekman is better. :D
Hahahaha!!! Funniest comment I've read this year so far!
You're off your head!
+Larry hoover Yeah I must be off my head, cos I paid good money to see Morrissey in concert. He was good back in the 80's, but these days he sucks donkey feces. Jens > Morrisshit
+Firdaus Isa you clearly know nothing about morrissey or the smiths!
Thankyou for your hard earned money tho ☺️😂😂
+Larry hoover No worries, I feel it's our duty to help the aged, especially irrelevant has-beens. Tickets were cheap too - no surprises there 😌😌😌
+Firdaus Isa 😂😂😂😂 you clearly know nothing about music, and I wouldn't call £70 a ticket cheap.
