As others below said, this is a great film. Too bad it wasn't better advertised. Do yourself a favor and stream it. Excellent performances and a kick-ass plot.
This is cool. I have never seen backshots of the production of a movie like this. Usually there is a bunch of interviews and 'gee-whiz' stuff. The shot at 7:39 is classic New Mexico summer weather. Beautiful.
@@evanjameson5437 I'm watching a 5yr old interview with bridges, Chris pine and foster and Jeff bridges just said that it was filmed outside of Albuquerque
Very fine film. It takes you far from the madding crowd. Everyone is great in it. And Texas is Texas. Vast...dusty...unreal. THis country has more in common with the Sahara than people think.
This is a study of poverty, loyalty, power and duty. There is no black and white nuances... only reality. The bad, good and indifferent. Once an idea takes place, it is almost impossible to stop. It becomes a monster of its own creation, destroying lives and moralities. The innocent and guilty die. Yet, in a convoluted world we must decide who is innocent and why are the guilty guilty. The land stolen from the indians; the banks controlling properties; and finaly, the law breaking the law. The backdrop is perfect-- unforgiving desolation without a future. Shakespearean.

Amazing flic. Great characters, and the story plays without missing a beat.
Perfect casting
It stormed almost every late afternoon/evening here while they were making it, I'm surprised they didn't include a scene with it in the movie.
It was interesting that this was a record-setting year for moisture for eastern New Mexico, and yet the film was set during a drought.
