Stan Lee isn't racist it's just his earlier heroes reflected his upbringing and surroundings we're talking Washington Heights before the latinos came in so it makes sense to write what you know but then he has expanded with the X-Men by diversifying the modern day superhero

@@NYvandal I’m not waiting, only inquiring about why this is currently the case. Further, it is the responsibility of larger execs in the movie/superhero industry with representational power to create stories about/ depict more diverse stories than the current convention maintains. If they’re going to continue to make these kinds of stories, why not include more diversity to reflect the people who watch these films? Democracy not just in government, but film as well means a mirroring representation of the people that create a commonwealth. In Marvel’s case, this should include more diversity in the people chosen to be depicted as society’s role models and superheroes.

He’s smart. And I understood why he made comics the way he did. People can’t say he was racist. He made heroes of all colors. Purple, Green. But he began gearing towards actual Ethnicity. That’s different. That’s Special.

George Perez...Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez...Phil Jimenez...Daniel Acuna, Jesus Merino..Carlos Pacheco... they've all been AROUND the industry...
ask em how come there haven't been a Black Panther for the latino fans...??
the same with african americans...there was Dwayne McDuffie..but, he made great animated stories..not so much on the characters (at least not in the black panther level)...
the Asians...they got Jim Lee, Jim Cheung, Sean Chen...where are their asian creations that really blew up..?? at least, they got manga over in Japan...and some cool Indian characters in India....

What Stan Lee just said makes more sense than trying to validate the the "race" or ethnic background of a character through story. It is like when you make an avatar for a game you tend to choose that which is more similar to you in order to make it more immersive in a way as you go through your adventure. If you want more representative superheroes the writers should also have that cultural identity and upbringing. In regards to population there should be about half and half men and women some black, Latino, and Asian and others but that would be a long list. Also ethnic doesn't mean people that are not white. It is the cultural identity that you consider yourself a part of. I mean "white" in itself is pretty diverse but there seemed to be an emphasis on assimilation which made people either voluntarily or by force give up or downplay their own ancestral roots and culture. Blacks and whites are never questioned in the "Americaness" yet those that fall in between are questioned in their origins most of their lives. This is already longer than most will read so to sum it up these are issues that need to be talked about in a civil manner that comes from a place of understanding and if not that at least empathy, were just not there yet and who knows if we will ever be.

I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt by thinking it didn't come out like it sounded. I am Latino and I wonder if he meant outside the country or within the country? I got more in the beginning that it was a Latino from Latin america and Chinese from China. However towards the end it started sounding like within America. So I hope that is not how he was meaning it because there is no such thing as a true american by race only American in patriotism. He also looks very intelligent to think that way even for his time.

Black Panther's is a character based in Africa, his homeland.. Do you honestly want an American version of the Latino world or more authentic where your roots stem from and showing everyone else your culture and traditions? I honestly wish this was something black people would complain about..whether or not to be offended by something like being considered American or not regarding Stan Lee's comments 😣
