A tip that I picked up from my mum that she used in her business (albeit this probably works best for small streamers), is to keep a little notebook on my desk, and if there are regulars that come in, or a new follower that's come in a couple of times, but maybe they mentioned their birthday or a family trip they were taking, etc. I write it down and ask them about their trip, wish them a happy birthday, etc. at the relevant date.
I found that it's made people feel 1. really happy that I remembered and care about them as an important and valued member of the community, and 2. more likely to come back because now there's a more personal connection, which I love :) Thanks for another great video!

Depending on what streaming Software you are using you should be able to toggle it off. On OBS on the twitch stats you can click the viewerr number and it'll hide it. My tip: don’t measure your success by factors you cannot control.

My advice: find a small thing that makes you a streamer, and not just a guy playing games.
Have that talk with a few of the kids I teach. They have hard time figuring out why they cant get viewer. Then I ask what they do, their respons is: "I play minecraft with friends" I ask them if they entertain the chat or have anything to offer them? They goes blank.

The "create a narrative" tip has really helped me recently! One tip I can offer: If there's some dead air, hum a tune or make silly sound effects to go with what you're doing in the game. Whatever you do, don't stop talking. Sometimes it becomes a fun inside joke, like in Subnautica whenever I use my grappling hook I sing the old Spiderman theme song and my chat turned it into a drinking game 😅

Double down on Awkwardness and Goofiness. One of my regulars was in chat for community day on her birthday, and I was gonna sing happy birthday for her. Was stopped because of DMCA. Another tip is, a lot of streaming tips can be summed up by being a good person. That’s something that you have to figure out on your own time (Reframing self-destructive ways of thinking, etc). Because if you genuinely love what you do and appreciate your viewers, it will show.

My tip is to have a clear vision of what you want your stream to be like before you even start. Having a vision and knowing what you want to do helps so much. Wow, I just stumbled across this via a recommendation, and it makes me even happier - I've done pretty much all of these tips (except the RUclips ones gotta work on that!) and I've found my Twitch channel to be growing steadily. I'm SO glad that the "not streaming" everyday tip came up, because I know so many streamers that burn themselves out by streaming 7 days a week, then look down on me for not doing the same. Streaming everyday PREVENTS your growth. If you're not networking outside of streams, then it's going to cost you in the long run.

My main tip is that gear doesn't really matter when you start out. I started streaming on a gaming laptop and with my headset mic, I still use them both today but will be upgrading to a pc this summer. I got affiliate in 3 months of streaming a couple days a week. That, and consistency really is key. I hit my 50 followers and got affiliate in March 2018, life got busy and I made excuses to stop streaming (though at one point I wasn't able to stream at all due to poor internet) its only the past few months I've gotten consistent again and started gaining 1 to 3 new followers every stream. Though again iys just my luck that once I'm finally consistent that my laptop fans give out on me and im stuck unable to use my laptop at all for 2 to 3 weeks while I wait for replacement parts.
In the meantime I found your videos and im just itching even more to get back to streaming and to implement these tips! Hey, just wanted to say thank you so much for all the support I started on RUclips years ago and moved over to twitch around a week ago so its been amazing seeing all the videos and all the help that you have provided. Also a tip for people seeing this is when you realize you aren't talking and that its been a little bit since you've spoke just say random things that come on your mind. This way if someone is in your chat they can/will reply, conversations will start and inside jokes can be made!

Take 10-20 minutes out of your day to participate in other communities, be it on discord, Twitter, WhatsApp etc. The more active you are in other communities the more willing people from said communities will be to watch or review your stream or video when it’s time. ⚠️Do not link dump⚠️

My best tip for people that wanna do Twitch and wanna take the build off the platform method is to plan ahead. In approxamitly half a year or so im planning on starting to stream but I've started planning out since the beginning of 2020. I've made a dedicated instagram, a dedicated youtube channel (not this one), and planned out weeks worth of content.
I've done this to ease the future pressure I will have from school and work. I know a lot of us are trying to balance streaming and school and I would say the best way to start is by getting the professional look right from the start even if you have a low viewer count. Because honestly I would rather watch a professional looking stream with links to all socials, overlays, alerts etc. Then watch someone without overlays but that's just me.
    In summary:
    1. Plan ahead
    2. Get those overlays
    3. Make other social media accounts, Twitter, Reddit (especially Reddit), Instagram etc....

Of this video the most useful tips for me were the ones on the community building part, I don't think I'll have trouble coming up with goals and how to get them, but I still find a bit hard to believe the idea that someone would actually watch me and talk with me xD as you said numbers are people, and thinking of someone actually sitting in front of their pc/phone and choosing to spend their time with me makes me a bit nervous haha

With proper settings, it will “duck” the audio down by a couple db anytime your voice is coming over the mic. That way, your voice is always forefront in your audience’s ear.

How can I improve talking to an empty stream? A lot of the time no one is in my stream but ik I get a lot of views after my stream is done and in my library so any tips on talking to an empty stream would help!

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 года назад +2

You most likely aren't getting views on your VoDs on your stream, the views on the vods are calculated by how many individual accounts went through your stream in 10 minute intervals, so if a bot checks the stream, or even if you are logged in yourself it counts the view and adds it to the streams recording on your channel after the fact.
I'd say if you want to improve while talking to an empty stream, check out my streaming to 0 viewers video as well as planning out content, plan out stories, jokes, talking points, etc!

A tip I've found to be very useful is raiding on twitch. I'm not sure if it works in the same way on youtube, but raiding is a pretty nice way of putting yourself out there. It's mutually beneficial as the streamer you raid gets exposure to your community, and you are exposed to their community. Sometimes people follow you from raids and end up coming to your stream too. I feel as though it's definitely a way to network, promote yourself and others, without having that 'hey check me out' annoying tone, which (rightfully so) a lot of people do not appreciate. Take some time to find a nice community to raid and overtime, it'll show results :D. Good luck!

This is more for the art streaming community but one of my tips is don’t be afraid to showcase other artists. Like if you’re asking “what are you working on” and someone says they’re doing a drawing, invite them to send a link in DMs or in chat (if you allow links) and show it off. I feel like this is one of very few channels that's actually helpful with all the info, short, useful and a bit of humor. Keep it up my guy.

There’s a lot of great creators out there! You should look up NuttyLmao as well! Fantastic stream educator!

Loving the content man! I had no idea there were websites that could let you use more emotes!
As for tip, here’s one I’ve learned: use games like “Marbles on Stream” or “One Troll Army” on steam to give your chat something to look forward to and do in game! The two I mentioned are FREE on steam and link to your Twitch. Super fun to play and chat while doing a “Chat vs Me” game night

Love it. My tip is always think about ways to surprise the chat. I dyed my beard white for Christmas and people loved it
