NES - Ninja Gaiden - Act I

Ninja Gaiden, known as Shadow Warriors in Europe and Ninja Ryukenden in Japan, is a platformer game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) developed by Tecmo. Originally released in Japan towards the end of 1988, it was the first in a popular trilogy of Ninja Gaiden titles for the NES. The game follows the story of Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja seeking revenge for the death of his father. Set in a retro-futuristic version of 1988, Ryu embarks on a journey to America to avenge his murdered father. Along the way, he discovers a sinister plot involving ancient demon statues and a villain named “the Jaquio” who plans to take control of the world. The gameplay features side-scrolling platform action similar to Castlevania, with Ryu using his katana and other weapons to defeat enemies across six “Acts” comprising 20 levels. The game is also known for its anime-like cinematic cutscenes that advance the elaborate storyline. Despite its high difficulty, Ninja Gaiden received acclaim and is considered one of the greatest video games of all time.
