It’s nice since they are aware of being white and how it could be super out of touch if two white guys talked directly about the black experience
Incredible interview. Both really intelligent, open minded, good guys talking very naturally and honestly about some deep topics. Frankly, you two are setting a great example for young white kids like myself, illustrating the importance of educating ourselves and really being conscious and considerate of these issues.

Thank you for this outstanding interview! You had a discussion that we needed to hear. There’s people out there that see it for what it is and realize there is a problem.
Any of those people who rail at the intersection of sports (celebrity life) and politics /social issues have it all wrong. That knee jerk response so many give about "keep your politics out of this. Just sing play/sing" is like hiding your head in the sand. The person speaking may have the luxury of disregarding issues they don't want to talk about but so many others don't. Even when someone comes in a way that doesn't sit well with me, I'm still glad they spoke up because at least you know who you're dealing with. That even extends to business and their stance on social issues. I WANT to know who I'm buying from or watching or liking and when someone speaks up a least it provides clarity on who/what they truly are. Sadly most people prefer the status quo, happy in the not knowing on a certain issue. To them ignorance is bliss but if we're ever able to truly get past these entrenched issue we have lose the cloak and speak honestly and with hope. Good on people like Steve Kerr who are willing to come out of the shadows and have their voices heard.
Oh wow, this is so good. Who knew Steve Kerr had so many jewels to drop? And how has Jon Stewart not lost a step with his interviewing style and his insightful analysis of the problem? It's very much like Jazz. Steph Curry is like the Michael Brecker of the NBA. Knowing the fundamentals of their craft and then having the ability to create in an instant when a plan or structure fails, leading to success and innovation.
Amazing conversation! You have to have an open mind in this world. The closed mind is the end of us. The concern in my opinion is main stream media pushes a narrative that doesn't allow for more conversations to happen.
Thanks for taking on this conversation Jon and Steve. More influential White men need to follow your examples to make a dent in this problem. Just read some of the comments here and you will see how far we have to go. I cannot wait to see your follow up podcast on this issue. I have never followed sports. But Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr got me to watch the highlites of Warrior games and their interviews.
The issue is in the black community themselves at this point tho..this narrative that cops kill unarmed black people all the time is so insane and wrong that it makes everything else Steve says is eye rolling. Steve Kurr hasn't mentioned anything about China having child labour and modern day slavery...which the NBA is a huge partner of. It's becoming almost a joke unfortunately. All this is, is Steve kurr feeling incredibly guilty of something he had nothing to do with and infantalizing the black community. This is called the bigotry of low expectations. It's a way that people who think theyre very accepting and progressive..start to treat minorities like children..which is the most racist thing in the country right now bc its the accepted way of thinking if you're a liberal white person
I really wish clipping was enabled so I could grab the segment at 13:42 to send to so many people. Jon, as always, is absolutely right. As James Baldwin said, "How Much Time Do You Want For Your Progress?"

First I watch the Dubs lose to the Suns (BADLY), then I watch the Dubs beat the Suns (smack down) and then the Warriors lose to the Spurs. What an emotional roller coaster! I can’t imagine what Steve Kerr goes through mentally as the coach. All I can say is, he is worth every penny the Warriors are paying him. And what a humble person!
He played and coached under Popovich. So i imagine he would take Pop's attitude about this, which was "It's just a basketball game. Get over yourself and let's have dinner."
I’m not sure that Kerr is really that amazing of a coach. The talent on that team is obviously unparalleled. Had mark jackson stayed on that team another year, we would be saying the same about him
@@ep3578 Mark jackson's offense was completely revamped by kerr. Also, Jackson's religious 'enthusiasm ' that permeated the locker room made many really uncomfortable . Amazing conversation! You have to have an open mind in this world. The closed mind is the end of us.
The concern in my opinion is main stream media pushes a narrative that doesn't allow for more conversations to happen.
Loved watching him back in the day with the Bulls.
I hated him with a lot of respect. - Rockets fan.
@@omeyehead7436 I grew up about an hour south of Chicago. It’s in my DNA.
I hate the warriors because they’re so good but goddamn do I love Kerr. Great human.
Love, love, love your show! It's gonna be a big hit!
What a great listen. Respect both these guys
I really wish clipping was enabled so I could grab the segment at 13:42 to send to so many people. Jon, as always, is absolutely right. As James Baldwin said, "How Much Time Do You Want For Your Progress?"
This was amazing to see 2 White Men discuss how to understand Racism in America! This is where it starts! White people talking among themselves on how they can play a positive role of righting the wrongs of White Supremacy! Kudos to 2 of my Favorite people! Thanks Steve and Jon....you both are the best! I really appreciate the healing.
both made some great points specifically Jon’s closing statements about equity and equality
So glad to see Steve Kerr being himself and successful
Two really good guys. Great interview.
Two of my favorite human beings! Just now finding this a half a year late
It is no coincidence that Jackson has not been offered a coaching gig since them. Sometimes Having too many stars on the team makes coaching even harder. Take a look at the Nets and the Lakers.
pretty great interview/ talk
Steve Kerr is great, love from San an❤️
Awesome convo.
Another wonderful, informative, funny, personal and real episode. Every time I watch you I learn something and I laugh…..
great episode! love both of you!
What an incredible conversation. Everyone should think deeply about these topics.
Yes!!! Jon is back!
This is a very informative discussion on racism because the participants are two very intelligent people. Jon shows his interviewing skillls asking all the right questions
Jon and Steve - great conversation! Many thanks. If you are not familiar with her work already, you might enjoy Dr. Joy De Gruy. She wrote a book titled “Post Traumatic Slavery Disorder” and has many lectures on the subject on RUclips. I think her work speaks directly to the issues you are targeting here both illuminating the problems and offering a genuine pathway to real solutions. Enjoy and best of luck!
And here's the thing: It's difficult to effectively treat trauma while one is still IN the trauma.
Giving half time instructions via twitter because you know all the guys are on their phone is genius. lmao Jon's so good at thinking in the moment.
As a former UA student who attended when Kerr and all he went through with his dad and Sean Elliot and the others. I love Kerr!
Great chat 👏🏾
It was a very enjoyable podcast by two very experienced and articulate people.
What a reminder of what true leadership is and where it all comes from... Within
Just finished it. Love watching Jonny chum it up at the end with Kerr.
Such conversations make a difference
I think seeing things in video helps to break the resistance to the truth.
i just love to listen,,, to jon. and his guests.
I love Steve Kerr
Loved this interview!
Steve Kerr is a great player and coach.
I am also a 90s Knicks fan who hates Steve Kerr, but agrees with him on the issues of the day.
