That penalty was a great example of why your delivery is always important on a joke. It’s not a joke if you don’t sell it as such, and mason wasn’t laughing or looking silly or anything like that. How could anyone know it’s a joke when you don’t sell it?
They didn’t start in mutual ashi, but Eoghan converted to it. This is why Gordon said the person that attacks second in mutual ashi wins. Mason didn’t have a good enough grip on the heel, it gave Eoghan enough time to convert to mutual ashi and get the counter while his own heel was exposed. That was slick!
When Fowler attacked that leg, what could he have done differently? I’m personally not a leg locker so I don’t know the details but it seems like I see people do what Fowler did all the time and they don’t get caught.
Pretty much any modern Leg-Lock focused competitor will tell you to not try to expose the Heel from there. Danaher's Enter the System: Leg Locks warned about this exact scenario, and that DVD is ancient at this point.
Mason opted to attack with Irimi Ashi (Standard Ashi), which is an Outside Heel Hook. O’Flanagan was able to heist up and extract Mason’s knee (or Mason revealed it himself in a bid to get to Outside Ashi, not sure), acquire the Heel Hook, which was an Inside Heel Hook, which has more efficient breaking mechanics, in spite not having a good Ashi, he was able to create a faster breaking action on Mason, who probably made things worse by attempting to roll out. To what Mason should have done differently, he would have been better served attempting a roll once he acquired Irimi Ashi, while in that roll outside foot into O’Flannagan’s arm pit, creating space, to replace the inside leg outside, with outside leg crossed over (Outside Ashi). Keeping his inside leg safe while crossing the position, which has stronger breaking efficiency, and better defense of the inside leg.
Did the ADCC rule about pulling guard being an immediate negative in any world championships match only come into effect in 2023? Am I understanding the rule incorrectly?
What's Mason upset about? He lost fair and square. Not by an advantage or ref's decision; He got submitted. What's all that whining about? Props to Eoghan!
Why would yall post this match before one of masons biggest matches. He looked terrible in the match thas just fucked up. Youre customers giving you 100$ for a subscription and yall cant even properly promote the biggest match of the year 😂 embarrassing from Flo again.
I just don’t like it. If mason sat on his ass from the bell and shot for ankles he would have won. There needs to be a penalty if you sit on your ass from the bell.
If he would have won why didn't he do it? There are penalties for pulling guard in the second half of the match, the idea is that you're free to play whatever game you want in the first 5 mins and hopefully leads to more exciting matches, although not always obviously. Mason loooooooves stalling and edging out boring matches. You can clearly see he wasn't interested in genuinely attacking at all up until he got the -1 point and then he makes an actual effort to pass and opens up. I'd rather someone pull guard and they do some groundwork rather than watch them spam collar ties for 10 minutes afraid to take a shot, it's boring as hell
The ruleset in ADCC gives advantages to wrestlers in the second half of the match, when points are allowed, and overtime. The purpose of no points in the first half is to add greater flexibility for people of all styles to flex their game.
If JJ is a combat sport ...why do they allow sitting in guard( edited from pull gaurd which is different than pulling "INTO" gaurd? In real combat who would sit down. Get rid of sitting down make it a DQ.. try that in city parking lot or an opponent with boots on.. you wouldn't so.. why allow it( yes I know there is no striking)..but why reward unrealisti behavior? 😮
If you want realistic there's MMA for that. Would you rather pay for a ticket to go watch Eoghan pull guard and rip some dude's knee apart or fight for collar ties for 10 minutes until a ref decision? Yeah it's not realistic but it allows for more exciting matches, which is the priority for the people putting on the show, not 100% realism
@@nikolayotov4668 Sorry. My apologies...Pulling gaurd and sitting down are two differnt things Thank you. I do watch... my point is you will never sit on your but in. JJ intentionally so why promote it. You mention a rule set.. you don't kick downed opponents. Sport vs reslity...but MMA is as close as you get. How much of a JJ lover ard you if you need more action..it is based on control and the ability to TAKE them down.
@@edwardkaeser2533 The problem is wrestling can never be fast paced or exciting in JJ. The risk to reward to energy expenditure ratio is not there, so therefore pulling guard solves a lot of problems and allows for people to actually do jiu jitsu. If you want wrestling go watch it, if you want grappling ADCC allows every grappling martial art to shine a little bit, of course BJJ is the most superior grappling art so you will continue to see it dominate.
If boxing is a combat sport why aren't kicks allowed? If Muay Thai is a combat sport why aren't throws allowed? If wresting is a combat sport, why aren't submissions allowed? We can do this all day bub. None of this shit is about "the streets," they're sports.
After Gordon vs Mason, maybe Gordon vs Eoghan would be interesting

Man so glad Eoghan beat Mason. Mason such a crybaby.
3:09 😂
You should def. upload Eoghan's match with Vagner

He’s got his left leg on the wrong side of Eoghans body and his heel is exposed
I know but im not telling

@@andrewrossello6611 EOF had an outside heel hook, not inside. So that's not why he won that exchange.
Ossss flanagan is very good
That boy eoghan colddddd
So they expect him to beat Ryan..? 🤔
Did the ADCC rule about pulling guard being an immediate negative in any world championships match only come into effect in 2023? Am I understanding the rule incorrectly?
Only for finals
Only when points are counted on the second half of the round, or overtime.
Was Mason mad at something O’Flanagan did or just mad at himself?
That penalty threw mason off mentally. He knew he had to take risks trying to score against a dangerous guard/ leg lock game and went for it
He was mad at Caio Terra for not teaching him berimbolo
He was mad at his dad for not teaching him how to behave like a man
He was pissed pissed

Mason in fighting on fight pass not flo.
Different platforms mate relax
I wish they would change the rules of these comps to penalize anyone who pulls guard or sits down.
first
Guard pulling and stalking

i agree, it's should still be a fight after all
I mean the guys just sitting on his ass right? Just go down and submit him then instead of not engaging and doing nothing

What a joke this sport has become. What has submission "fighting" come to...
waaaaah hahahaha
Submissions? Yeah that’s what it should be about you dork
