Hi guys,
Welcome back to Throwback Thursday. Today we take another travel back in time and look at a Phaxe track from the past. This time we go back to 2010 and check out Aqualize - Land Of 2 Suns (Phaxe Remix) released on Iono-Music. This track is originally written by Aquafeel and Normalize two friends from Greece who together formed the project Aqualize back in the days.
The original track was a big hit in the progressive trance scene in 2009 and 2010, and when I got the chance to remix it I was very exited. The original track had a big vocal synth, that sounded like a monk yawning or singing very slowly. It was a super cool sound and a part of what made the track famous. I remember when I was almost done with the writing of the remix, a friend told me that he was so tired of the “monk" singing in that track, because he had heard it in every party for the last year and he could just not listen it anymore.
That made me choose to only use a little snip of the sound, even though it was one of the main parts of the track. It was cool he told me, because it made me take the track in another direction, and it was not all about the singing monk synth line. But if I made the remix today I would probably use the monk sound as well :)
The reason I chose this track for Throwback Thursday is that I still like the overall vibe and story very much, it has a cool swing groove and a nice melody in the break. This was also one of the first official remixes I made, and it started a storm of remixes over the following years.
