Hi. Thanks for the detailed video . I have a question, what happens if parents household income change , let say when putting application earning is 50 k and then go down to 25 k after an year or so . The amount of maintenance finance will increase or it will stay the same ? Thanks
Good question! Your Maintenance Loan won't increase *automatically*, but if your household income has dropped by a big enough amount, you can apply for what's known as a Current Year Income Assessment which will entitle you to a bigger loan for the year. My course only starts at the end of January so I only applied for SFE this month November, my application went through and a few details are being checked, but it says my 1st maintenance loan payment is due September and 2nd January, we’re in November will I get both payments on the same instalment or will they be delayed?
Hi - is the £3,025 just the first instalment (i.e. how much you received this month)? If so, you'll get more paid to you in the second and third payments later in the academic year. Otherwise, this is lower than even the minimum amount available, so either you accidentally requested a lower amount than what they offered you, or they've made a mistake their end. Either way, worth contacting them to check!
It'll depend on your household income, and where in the UK you're from! Our guide has the rates for this year: www.savethestudent.org/student-finance/maintenance-loans.html In terms of how much it is every 3/4 months, the annual rate is split into 3 chunks: 33%, 33% and 34%. Hope that helps!
