Today we are pairing our Krachan, this is a study of pairing behaviour between these amazing spiders, the male being so much smaller than the female, WARNING it does not end well for the male , but this is an important part of breeding , some stunning close up footage please watch to the end .

Amazing footage, worthy of a documentary on Discovery Channel. As an arachnophobe, your channel is strangely therapeutic 😅
Thank you so much really appreciate that ❤️❤️👍
Same I'm scared to death of spiders but I've been binging the channel all night since I found it.im a little afraid of this one though tbh. But I'm gonna try
@@cleosworld9096 Welcome my friend ❤❤❤
@@daveslittlebeasties definatly a worthy binge watching channel
Me too, I‘m currently planning on getting a Lasiodora as a „starter“ because they seem chill. The spider I actually want is an Irminia, but they’re so goshdarn fast, they‘d be the worst possible first spider for a ˋphobe. 😂
Jeezus just seeing her in the way back covered in shadow is terrifying
Brave little fella wasn't he
That reveal when she starts moving and you realize that massive shadow in the background is actually a spider...
@@sheridanfalkenberry5611 a behemoth of a spider!
Yup, she a big-boned gal. Maybe her name is Howardina HUGE!! 🤣😜
You sure had to go up against the big big girl And she is frightening to look at, She's so small compared to her poor guy, I enjoyed every bit of that video very interesting, And I watched all of it👀🕸💖🕷
First, thank you for announcing the males demise. I typically don't watch those but because of how you explained it I was still able. You have a real talent for making these videos & educating us all.
Thank you Joelle, im so glad you managed to watch the whole film there was some interesting footage there.
@@daveslittlebeasties it really was. Also a great learning experience. Judging by the size difference I feel that's how nature intended it. I've watched you pair many species & the male always lives. You're not the type to allow it just because
@@joellemegan2934 No if the male can be saved then thats what we should be aiming for but it does sometimes happen , nature made the males expendable to secure future generations.
The size difference is astonishing!! Her drumming basically shook the ground 😳🤯
Amazing footage. I was very impressed, that you continued filming after the actual mating to even get out some educational content, nicely done. I admire your effort to show people, that those fascinating creatures are much more than just "8-legged freaks".
Thanks buddy 👍❤️
This has to be the best video I've seen so far, incredible stuff here, you have the pairing, dinner, the web, just amazing. These are some of the most incredible creatures on this planet.
Man, the balls on that male to go down in that burrow...
That was intense. I couldn't stop watching. The behaviours of both male and female were fascinating and that webbing was amazing. I felt for the male but it was quick and precise.
Yes and hi did not die in vein she now has a sack which should hatch in the next few weeks👍
Her being in the dark made it more ominous. Add scary music and you have a horror movie.
Stunning species! Love your narration Dave. Just like watching National Geographic 😂
Thanks buddy 👍
I'm a new subscriber, think I've found my new favourite invertebrate channel - Superb narration/insight, keep up the good work!
Thank you Andrew and welcome to the channel 👍
I agree mate he good ain't he
He managed to pass his seed on and made sure mum had all the protein she needed to make sure all the little hims had the best start they could. Mission accomplished on his end at the end as it were...
The egg sac was infertile. Poor boy died having a knee trembler. 😆
That was fascinating. Rosa looked so intimidating as a silhouette in the cave.
HAHAHA ROSA, he wasn't put off at all 😂👍
I love how she came out with him in her fangs as if to say "yeah...and?"!
That sure takes the romance out of it...
Great video as always, Dave. I know I'm 8 months late, but here's my comment anyway. I really appreciate how you present and explain things on your channel. I enjoy Tarantula Kat and Dark Den, but it's really refreshing to watch a channel that doesn't use gimmicks and colourful props to endorse their channel. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what they do, there's definitely a niche in the market for that kind of approach, but I find myself coming back to your channel more because of the natural and organic way you produce videos. And I'm not even into spiders. I'll most likely never keep spiders as a hobby, but if I ever did, it would probably be jumping spiders. I'd likely release some of them around the house to take care of any bug problems that might arise. And I have very little fear of them crawling on me because they have no reason or cause to bite me.
These tarantula videos are very interesting, but I hope to see more jumping spider videos from you also. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you matey I really appreciate your support ❤️👍
There's nothing better than having a British guy describe nature to you, you know it's the Truth because of the accent.
❤️❤️❤️😂👍
Yeah agreed! You just have to know that a "mile" is a male.
Absolutely fascinating. Thanks so much for posting, Dave. Cheers. -- Jim
Glad you enjoyed it
I've watched a bunch of your vids now and i have to say its probably the best informative T channel out there. The chilobrachys are one of my favourites i do think they have gained a bad reputation possibly through a wrong enclosure set up lack of burrow and or hide or retreat somewhere for the T to be at ease. Sure they can be fast i had my dyscolus blue female run up the tongues and almost have my fingers which was my fault i shouldn't of tryed to reposition the prey but you find these things out one way or another.
Thanks for your support and kind words, they are very miss understood, and can be a very rewarding spider to keep.
Alas proving that no bloke should date a woman four times his size; gonna end in tears almost every time!
😂😂😂😂
poor guy. i paired my kaeng krachan 2 days ago. after the male insereted 5 times, the female pounced on the floor a few times to make him back off so she could go back into her burrow. very kind of her to save him^^
Sounds like you was very lucky indeed 👍👍
@@daveslittlebeasties did your kaeng krachan already make an egg sack?
@@axiyxav5377 Yes but it was no good infertile 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties oh im sorry to hear that, i hope the next pairing will give a good result :)
RIP little guy - absolutely folded 🥺
I have to say there was something incredibly intimidating about seeing the male at the front of the burrow and then suddenly seeing this immense black shadow move behind him
Beautiful footage. They are such interesting animals. So pure and basic in a way. Life and death interlocked directly. Really engaging commentary as well.
No, he had a chance to get away. A small one, but still... Guess he had to catch his breath.
HE'LL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN! Haha. Dayum! Seen that with preying mantis once, in person, bit his head right off! But never with a spider.
This was surprinsingly interesting to watch, usually things like this creeps me out but I found this very interesting. I guess me having my own Tarantula pet is changing me lol.
Im so glad you watched the whole film there's so much more to it than the death of the male 👍, thank you👍
Crickey she's a Biggin', he looks like a spring roll in the mouth of an English Mastiff, these particular spiders are gnarly.. awesome narration too Dave, I really appreciate your insights, invaluable information and I thank you for it as everytime you point out something of interest like your observations of her spinneretes I'm instinctively looking out for those points in the next video you make.👍😃👍
I am learning so much about these beasties. Thank you so much for bringing us a look into the lives of these spiders.
Well dammmmmm. Didnt stand a chance. Fingers crossed for a sack. Great video once again. :)
Thanks bud looked like he made it.
Fascinating, scary and sad. Wonderful vid, great narration! Loved how the light caught the web and made beautiful colours.
So glad you watched it all and enjoyed it, yes it is sad but nessasary 👍
There he is…
He’s in, HE’S IN!!!
Ooooooo….😬
Another fascinating educational video and that camera work takes us right there with them. 👍👍👍
Finally getting up to date with all your videos, I think this is probably one of my favourites. Not an easy one to watch, but so much insight to their world, and watching her spin that web! 😍😍
I think this was a fantastic video. I have not seen a video this good. I love watching her spin her web so perfectly. The male was a brave guy. Thank you so much.
Thank you Dave. Such a fantastic video. Those spinnerets are beautifully adapted to all the special needs of a T.s behaviour and habitats. Very cool.❤️🙏🏼
If a woman got sex and free food of course she would be doing a happy dance
I love how Dave explains everything thank you Dave
As a new subscriber to your channel, I’ve been binge watching most of your videos. But, I have to say this is the coolest one by far. Your footage of the female cocooning the male is amazing. Also let me just add that I’m a total arachnophobe but I’m now addicted to your channel. Lol.
Wow, thank you! and welcome to our channel my friend ❤️❤️👍
@@daveslittlebeasties You’re welcome all the way from Canada 🇨🇦
14:30 Love this segment. You guys have some of the best spider camera work on YT.
I really appreciate the documentary approach you have compared to the other creators.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️👍
Truly first class Dave, your observations and narration really make a special experience for me. 👍😃👍
Wow what a video noticed how calm you were even in such situations turn a negative into an educational situation top vid mate
Thanks Paul, hopefully everyone will get something from it , I know I did 👍
that was awesome,....better then any documentary on T.V. all the way back to the untamed world , or wild kingdom.....thank you so much, I was glued to the screen.
I've been wanting an old world tarantula so learning about different techniques to employ in their care is something I've been looking for. I haven't found a more educational channel than yours Dave and any time I want information I'll come here. Thank you
Thats awesome thank you 👍❤
watch it 3 times one off your best , excellent camera work.
Wow, thanks!
FASCINATING!!! Survival of the Fittest is rarely a pretty thing, but as you say..it's nature at work. Your explanation of this is gentle and compassionate, without mincing words..so to speak. I'm very impressed!!! If I didn't have so much on my plate now...I could see me getting into this hobby...
❤️❤️❤️
Wow! That was amazing! So interesting to understand the job of the male being her meal to help his offspring survive. Great video!
Our pleasure!
Most educational videos on spiders I've ever seen! Thank you sir!
Wow, thanks! Really appreciate your support and kind words my friend ❤️👍
This is by far the best video I've ever seen of a T (and I've seen a LOT). It is just amazing.
Thank you 🙏
Amazing!!! I love the way you prefaced what we would be watching and suggesting the way to view it. She is a glorious, bodacious lady. I'm fairly certain he died happy. 😊
Amazing beast she is..
It looked like a scene from Lord of the Rings when we first meet Shelob, you see movement but have no idea of her collosal size till she steps out of the shadows, OMG she's huge. Awesome footage Dave.. 10/10 👍😃👍 spectacular footage of her webbing up, her spinnerets are truly amazing to watch, and the way she does all this while holding her mate, and never trips on her web, always precisely what she wants to do with her web...
They are cool to watch webbing up
Another superb, educational video!
Another great video, very informative as usual, thanks dave👍
Cheers matey👍
Amazing footage and great narration!
Stunning footage Dave! That girl is a beaut mate :) and 100% with you on the males being eaten. I think we had the conversation when you joined us on the stream its natural and is part of their lifecycle. :)
Great video again! 🤘🤘
Thanks bud, I just hope he managed to get her first I think he did👍
Fascinating presentation, Dave. An' Im glad ya didn't become too weepy minded over the reality of her takin' him down. It is JUST what it is. That's it. Just...is. By the way, watched your unpackin' 1 vid yesterday. The happiness on yer face, great to see. Very pleased for you and Camera Lady. Lookin' forward to watchin' the progress. Carry on!

I has forgotten how fantastic the camera work is on this video and the narration keeps you captivated, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
Thank you 🙏
Of course after telling me about the Krachan, I come to see this 😂 ☠️ Great footage, she's a monster!
This is an old video, yes, but I am so interested in your Beasties I have been binge watching and learning from the best! And you are definitely amazing at presentation of nature. It is sad to see the male die but nature does what it does. She is a beast and he was so tiny.
The webbing and explanation is so intriguing as I have never seen such and had it all explained so vividly. Thank you, as always!
Your very welcome my friend ❤️👍
Great job Dave good show.
This was amazing to watch! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching
Great video, echoing that your narration was excellent. Thanks for sharing, it’s clear you are very passionate about these creatures.
Thank you Jenny, theres so much to learn from these spiders that we care for and there lifestyle and habits just fascinate me 👍
Awesome! Much love!
Excellent job of managing audience’s expectations.
I wasn't sure I could watch this video, but your commentary throughout helped me get through it. I feel bad for him, but I guess that's nature. Thank you for your explanation. Can't believe I actually shed a tear for a spider. Wouldn't have done that before finding your channel.
I appreciate that and so glad your allowing yourself the opportunity to understand these wonderful beasties ❤️👍

What a different world it would be if humans mated this way.

Amazing footage. I learnt so much. 😮

Fascinating, thanks so much.
The first thing I noticed was how much stronger her legs are than the male. I could have watched her web him right up, I'm amazed by the ritual of it all, the complexity of it all. As I've said before, you guys have given me an appreciation of spiders I never thought possible. The females fangs are so big, poor little man. Before this video I watched your pink toes pairing, a completely different video!!!
Mind blown yet again! Good job mate. never seen something like that !@!@!@!@
Very interesting and informative. Great video
Thank you
Very interesting and educational video and if you love spiders, that's part of it. I really enjoyed watching it.
Glad you enjoyed it
Incredible!
My God this is fascinating, i agree with you, he certainly did design them for this intended purpose. thank you as well for sharing such experiences with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Incredibly interesting video. Yes, many people will probably not like it, but that's nature - beautiful & deadly.
That was a really fascinating video Dave, amazing the size difference between the male and the female and her fangs are massive you wouldn't want them chomping on u would u ? Lol hopefully she makes a sac for u 👌
Thanks Darren , im so glad you found it interesting there was a lot going on 👍
Amazing footage and sad for the male but its nature as you say and guarantees she has a meal. Thank you for showing it and explaining it 👍
What a fantastic video. Loved that. Move over sir David Attenborough lol.
Thanks buddy really appreciate your support 👍
Dark earth tigers they are some pretty tarantulas but are defensive also i love this channel keep up the good work!! ❤
Really awesome video mate 👍
Thank you my friend appreciate it 👍
Awesome video, she's beautiful!
She sure is 👍
Wow that was extraordinairy she is so big and beautiful your narration was spot on . Find the spinarettes interesting and they are so délicat .. i'm of the same mind i love animals i rescue cats and nature is rarely easy but always educational and things are like they are for a reason .annyway that's my opinion..great vid . Thànks hopes she has a bunch of babies ..
Thank you very much! and yes she is getting quit plump now its the waiting game now fingers crossed all goes well 👍
OMG. SHES HUGE COMPARED To her mate. She sadly made quick work of him no sooner than he did his deed. She moved so quickly I actually jumped even though you gave us a warning on what happened. I still feel sorry for him; nature's design or no. I still cannot get over the size of this spider. She's absolutely huge and beautiful. Can't wait to See the offspring. I truly hope the little guy was successful. And I have never seen such a different mating ritual. Very very interesting 🤔. Dave thank you so much for your very informative videos. On all the different subjects you show us. I'm very slowly getting less and less phobic since I've begun watching your videos! And many kudos to the camera lady. She's totally awesome as well. You Both do amazing work. !! Brilliant 👏 👏 👏 👏
Thank you so much for your kind comments , unfortunately the sack was infertile 👍

The male agonising in the jaws of the lady: I'm glad she likes me.

This is an excellent its good to watch from a scientific eye and not emotions.
❤️❤️❤️👍
wow that was incredible 👏 but I feel bad for the little guy
Wow, one tough female! Poor male, he never had a chance to make it out. Might have gone better if he had brought flowers. 💐
As a child many moons ago on a school camp my interest in spiders was ignited. The game warden said two things that really stuck with me. The spider will never cross breed as the petipulp is unique to that species like a key to a lock. He also said that the sole purpose of the male was to breed with the female and that most lose their life during the act of mating. Females generally live a 'fixed life" in one place and a male is more nomadic. The spiders he took us to see were golden orbs, common garden orb, baboon at different life stages, the recluse spider, the common house spider the black widow and the false widow. He showed us how to identify webs and whether the web was inhabited. I loved the orb spiders but i doubt there are many in captivity as their daily webs are spun to well in excess of 4 ft. He even showed us how to sex a spider. It is good to show these things as they are natural albeit gruesome.
Sounds like a cool trip Julie, we do have orbs here and I used to have one free roaming in my room 😂👍
@@daveslittlebeasties it was but that is because in my day, more than 50years health and safety meant if you were not losr you were safe and if we were alive you were healthy. We had a whale of a time bivvy building, game tracking, rock climbing and abseiling, bush crafting and bush survival. We were all amazed that if we cut ourself and needed stitches the bush even provided those in the form of matabele ants. It was an amazing typical African childhood. Kids miss out on so much of it today.
@@juliehowman3912 It was much the same for me my friend 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties 🤯
@@juliehowman3912 That reminds me of a scene from Apocalyptica, one of my favorite movies despite knowing it is not historically accurate. A mother uses ants to stitch- up her little boy s cut.
