Important note. The video shows ‘A and B’ levers both in ‘vent 3’ position (front facing vents). Even with the temperature slider set to hot, only cold air will ever blow from these vents. This is correct, but very confusing when trying to purge an airlock if you’re not used to the Mk1. Simply put the ‘A and B’ levers to the opposite position (hot feet and windscreen) and otherwise follow what Paul says.
Please can you do a video on a faulty temperature gauge? Or is this more for an auto electrician? Love your videos. ( also check your water tank cap) that is a must as the little rubber can become perished in the cap.
Wow .I'm so glad these videos are helping people..at first I was very sceptical when I started...but was amazed at the views and responses I got .,and all it is are my experiences with Mk1. I'm not a near being a qualified mechanic.
Thanks for the great vids and tips. Extremely helpful. I have a question once done with the flush do i add just coolant and then start and get rid of bubbles amd top up with watwr as it goes or do add coolant and water and do same process as above. Dont want to make an amateur flop
Throw in all the coolant first, then top up with water, and then with car idling bleed bubbles out... Once fully bled, then top up again... You won't lose much coolant while bleeding its just air bubbles that come up... Thanks
Hi PJ, 1. My temperature doesn't get to the middle. always stays flat on the left. It will occasionally be halfway to the middle then fall back on the left. The heater works fine and the pipes get hot. 2. My fuel gauge fluctuates and sometimes you could even see it moving from empty to where the fuel level is. What could be the problem?
Hi, sorry for delayed response. I must admit this one slipped through the cracks on my side. If you haven't yet solved the issue, it Could be a problem with your cluster, the connections at the back
Well as long as it gets to the point where the bubbling stops then you are ok.,but if not, and it bubbles intensely, and overheats you have a problem with the head gasket that may be blown
Hi. Have you checked the sensor in the engine bay yet? .. It could be faulty or just some corrosion that needs to be cleaned off, or loose wiring . Or your probably may be at the cluster itself.., but first work on the sensor
Hi. I just redid my waterpump, i filled her up and took the cap off, now it runs slightly too hot, it goes little bit over the led indicator on dash, did i do something wrong when bleeding? Did i had to have the side vents open when bleeding? Meaning the two that only blow cold air
If you had your heater set to full open(hot) you shud be fine..maybe just let it stand overnight with cap off so that last of air bubbles can come out,and top up if necessary .. Usually it will run hotter when engine is idling in your garage etc for a long time,so gauge could move just over the led light as u mentioned...but when u actually driving the cold air hits the radiator..
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy i did that, changed nothing, i swapped my stat. Engine heated up past the middle a bit, then fell to quarter, i let it air out for a weekend and now i believe its perfect, almost completely in the middle! Thank you my good sir!
It doesnt really fluctuate or move around while looking at it .You will be able to see if it's circulating by pulling of the thin pipe going into water bottle while the engine is running..If coolant is flowing through there you good.
Hi my car jerks and cuts off on hills and at high demand like racing .. it's a 1.4 carb , any idea what I could check. Also I have messed with the float , if you could help with setting
Hi. A number of things. Fuel pump. Fuel lines. Check for tears or cuts in the pipe going from filter to Pump. Fuel sender in tank may have a blockage. Fuel separator, if you have one on.. Try bypassing it, and see if problem goes away. Carb.. Clean it out
@@EpicFusionHub26 just for the test sake, connect the pump direct to carb, just to determine if your fuel starvation stops.. You found your problem.. Then keep it that way, but put in a T Piece, so that u can have a return line.. I have done mine like that... And had no issues.... But one thing I can tell you the pump connected direct to Carb makes engine run better and more responsive... But the concern I had was that it was too much fuel pressure at carb and it leaked a bit out the second stage valve.. Therefor I put in a T Piece.. Much safer and still get a nice performance... My video on fuel starvation I discuss the T piece. Have a look at that.
@@EpicFusionHub26 you will need a slighty longer fuel hose to connect from pump to carb.... Take care with fuel when disconnecting pipes OK.. You could disconnect battery for safety sake
Hi there.. Generally you should have a 40 / 60 mix... Meaning 40% antifreeze (G12), and 60% water... Or let me put it this way,, 2 bottles of G12.. And the rest is water.. Hope that's clear..
Then it could be your blower under the rain tray that is not working.check the connections etc..have a look at this video. ruclips.net/user/shortsAhL0ar3VAdg?feature=share

The problem is VW. Very common with City Gholf.

I got golf mk1i block the heater pipe will it build pressure
You could block it yes. Won't build up pressure.. But rather sort the problem out with the heater matrix asap
How much of coolant is needed? How many liters or bottles?

I have the green one and demineralized water is it still ok for my MK1?
I actually don't think there's anything wrong with that... Just don't run on water only for long periods.. It will cause rust in cooling system

Hi how to bleed brakes
which coolant is best suited for mk1's
G12.. Pink one
So what if the fan doesn't come on as the car is hot on the radiator
Could be the thermoswitch which needs to be replaced.situated on the side of the radiator
How can I get intouch with you,?
Contact details are under the "About" Section of the channel
Good luck
