Another beautifully shot session Paul , we get the real fishing fix, warts an' all with your angling fella and its as real as it gets 👊 . I can only fish the odd day once a fortnight now and making my own boilies is a fishing fix when I can't get out on the bank. To see the carp sheeting up on my Belachan spice mix is a great buzz knowing after making bait since the 80's I can still knock up a decent base mix. Bless ya' for making and sharing the video Paul and may the Carp Gods shine brightly down on you and yours. Tight Lines 🤞🎣🤞 Steve M👊
Great video again Paul. You do manage to capture the atmosphere of a lake perfectly. Fishing is not all about being serious and you and Carey sum it up perfectly.
Another great vid mate. I'm off to Burton springs tomorrow for 2 nights. Was thinking of doing some pike fishing at the birch through the colder months. Any tips?
Not had a huge success with the pike but I’d keep baits off the bottom to try and avoid the eels. If nobody is on the triple huts, that swim can give you a bit of space.
i fish a strange and rare water near Glasgow. A mixed stock water with both old and recently stocked Carp. Its like fishing for 2 diff' species. Do you think that Commons are different from Mirrors? This year, thanx to Alfie Russell. I have taken to lamping after dark in the margins. Not seen a mirror. But have seen a few commons & Pike. The Pike are eating fry. I think the commons are as well. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Deep thinking this lol. Yes I do believe they behave differently. I’ve had periods when all I catch are commons and I don’t believe it’s down to me. Whether it’s moon phases, tides, air pressures I’ve not got data to say either way but there are periods - ‘new moon = big commons’ is a frequently expressed theory but it’s never worked for me. Yet people swear by it. I think newly stocked fish get caught regularly for a period of time until they settle in and follow the lake norm. Also stockies definitely can make existing fish more active for a while until equilibrium is reached. I’ve never tried lamping but I’ve heard about the pike thing. As for fry feeding, I think it’s in the nature of all fish. Thanks for the comment Iain, I’m going for a lie down 😂
I do like the top loading and the hopper is a good size for keeping a stiffish rig straight. The weight and size are good for transporting. However the joystick is very sensitive and I find it a bit too lively at times. The battery compartments can ship a little water in the rain and I wouldn’t want to use it over 100 yards in a bit chop. I can’t compare it to any cheaper versions but it is not as good as the Angling Technics stuff but they are three times the price. I only use it occasionally which is fine. If I was going to be using it on a more demanding regular basis I would probably look to spend a bit more money. Hope this helps.
@VWJourneymananglingadventures got the angling technics one my with the big hopper great boat wanted something a bit smaller for the small waters but agree with you would not use at 100 yards on choppy waters thanks for the reply
