My daughter spilled a cup of hot chocolate on her laptop and the computer was dead, so I thought. I found this video on you tube. I had to completely dismantle the laptop with many stops along the way for chocolate cleanup on different components and connections. Excellent step by step video my friend. Thank you for posting this. Her Computer is back online and working well. We got lucky! your video saved her a lot of money. Thanks again!
My laptop was constantly overheating due to the massive buildup of crud in the fan unit. Thank you immensely for posting this video so that I could clean everything out. Seems to be running good again!
Tried doing this on my own and almost gave up. Found your video and made it through! thanks so much for making this video helping people like us out. Laptop is like 30 degrees cooler after cleaning it.
I want to thank you for this video. I have this laptop and have never cleaned it before today. My fan stopped working so I fortunately downloaded this video some time ago and was able to follow along while I took it apart and cleaned it. I need a new fan but at least now my laptop is running again thanks to you. God bless and keep doing these videos.
Great video. Completely clear and easy to follow with no rambling or other nonsense. Never would have figured this out on my own. Cooling fins were 99% blocked on the inlet side. Flows great and quite now, runs cool, no more 90C core temps. Thanks!
You would think they could have a replaceable/cleanable air filter that is accessible from the out side. But nooo one must dissemble the entire thing just to do simple maintenance of the air intake. Just want to thank you for posting. This was extremely helpful.
just went through and did this to my hp pavillion 17.3". i had a HUGE gob of dust near my internal fan so i was happy to get that out. fan is running practically ice cold now! thank you SO much for this, im glad i was able to do this myself and not take it to someone who wouldve wanted $$$ to do an hours work.
Great video, helpful, concise, accurate and no time wasting. Well done. My laptop is clean inside and out (with one extra left over screw and one lost screw in the couch lol)
Me too, I started opening my lap top but with the video with the wiring connections which I might not be able to connect properly, I just have it done by the technician.......
Thank you so much. You saved my cpu from constantly oberheating. An me from spending money on an new laptop. Also i enjoyed doing the disassembly an seeing by myself how it looks inside. Thank you
Thank you very much for your great video. I just needed to replace the motherboard battery. And for that, you have to disassemble the motherboard. So without you, I would be really in trouble. Thanks again.
This was easy. Thanks a lot. Didn't even replace any parts, but couldn't see my fan from how dusty it was... 😂 It was plugged but works fine now. Cheers!
Great video have this exact model, used this video to upgrade the CPU from a lackluster A6 dual core to an A8 quad core, thanks to the detailed video was able to disassemble, swap the cpu, and reassemble with ease, looks like I never touched it!
Yesterday i dropped coffee on my e-002sg... I repaired the touchpad myself... I'm so happy with that.. really, everything is still working, after 20 months,,, and notebook is not overheating,,, than other notebooks i had...
To everyone doubting their own abilities to do this - just try. I had zero prior knowledge, borrowed my father's screwdrivers and it worked like a charm. I did not disassemble all cables, some required me to use a lot of force which I was scared to do. It still worked, I just could not move the mainboard as freely.
THANKS! I couldn't get the bottom cover piece off by prying upwards (as I usually do), but as you show in the video - it slides sideways. I've fixed hundreds of laptops but never seen one come apart in that manner. Thanks for setting me straight! I also agree with "eNikita" - very poor design by HP making the fan only accessible by disassembling the entire laptop instead of just removing one cover flap. Manufacturers are purposefully making repairs as difficult as possible just to sell a few more computers - a very shitty way to treat customers that have purchased your product.
Ha ha! I hope I NEVER have to clean my fan. Buying a new laptop seems MUCH easier. WHY do they make it SO HARD to get to?! I would not have the patience for this and I'm a VERY patient person. Excellent video, by the way! Deserves ALL thumbs ups. 👍🏻
One suggestion-- instead of pushing the keyboard through that screw hole (which could damage the F9 key!), there is a keyboard release port where a blunter object could be used. well done though, extremely helpful! :)
there is a place on the left side of the opened back door where you are supposed to use your FINGER to push out the optical drive and keyboard. push left, that pushes out the optical drive. push down, it pushes the keyboard. it has the optical drive (dvd like symbol), and keyboard next to the hole with arrows. this works of course after you have removed all of the screws that correspond to that icon.
thank you for this video. i had everything unscrewed but could not figure out the keyboard part, it looks like it is all one piece on top. i could tell from the bottom markings that that was the keyboard release and screws, but didnt want to push it and break it. was able to do it once i knew it WAS a separate piece and that it comes out. that was what i needed, the three screws under the keyboard to get the top bezel piece off. i only needed to replace my LAN/USB combo that attaches with the ribbon on the right. got it done, blew some compressed air, while i was in there, into the fan. THANK YOU! had to replace the Wifi card too, but that was a piece of cake.
Stupidest laptop design ever. Just to clean a fan I have to disassemble the whole fucking thing and take out motherboard. Instead of making the damn thing accessible from the back side, like a normal laptop. Never buying HP again
For real. I have to make several fixes/adjustments to this thing and it's an absolute fucking nightmare. This laptop has caused me so much stress since I bought it. Looking into Sager Notebooks, I'm really interested in their products and they look like they're built pretty intuitively.
eNikita I like their computers, I still have one from the 2000's, but no, I agree, the design inside is terrible. It's like destroying a pc rather than building one.
Two screw sizes is great (the larger screws in the cover and the smaller ones in the cd bay and battery slot) .....and 20 mins from start to finish. Very helpful video. Reminded me to remove the keyboard first....Thanks can also include Model 17 e009wm
Thanks so much man! this saved my butt. i do think it was a stupid design not to have a more accessable fan so you could just pop off the vent and pull the 1/4 inch layer of dust off once in a while. Anyway thank you for making the video!
When pulling off the plastic cover surrounding the keyboard, it gets very hard to pull around the left side of the left click button and I'm not sure if I've taken everything apart right, or do I just pull harder?
Thanks for helping me through one of the biggest pains in the ass ever. This laptop's design is horrible, I would've never thought to pop out the keyboard just to get the case open. Not to mention the million and 2 screws.
i decidednot to do it at min 4 but but stayed til the end because after all i though to myself that laptop wouldnt start up and at the end of the vid you blown my mind lmao
I am stupid lol on the keyboard connector to the mother board I tore off the front one instead of opening from the back and it bend the conduits and tore it off the board but now I use a external keyboard and it works ok thanks for the good video man.
You can clean the fan with distilled water, or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. I've cleaned a few really dirty and clogged fans under running sink water before - it worked great, but I put a very tiny dab of grease on the center pin to optimize performance and reduce noise.
Thanks, I didn't dare to open mine and broke something. I had power issue which was only due to probably dirty contacts, but I used opportunity to disassemble everything.
Thank you very much. Great video. It was super easy to clean my fan out, now lets hope it stops over heating. But at least i know what video to watch if i need to replace it. 2 questions: 1. Is there only 1 fan for the entire thing, i didn't see any other. 2. what should the RPM's be if a game is playing?
This was so fun, everything seemed normal in the laptop very minimum amount of dust and so on but cleaned all up! I started my laptop and saw the hp but not the windows logo I started sweating lol then the updating screen popped up feww...
I know you commented this a month ago, but were the two tiny screws the ones that went under the disc drive? In the video, he put it in prematurely and took it back out to put those screws back in, so it could have thrown you off a bit.
hello you can help me at minute 2.30 that is that blue ribbon because I have that notebook but the blue tip is fine and the other end is white and is not connected to anything I do not know if it is cut by that end by the bone white leg if is connected to where the white end thanks
I have same laptop, I am having a power issue. no lights no sounds. I just picked up a new power adapter and i tested it with a multimeter to make sure it was good. any ideas what could be wrong? please help.

dude, i owe you a beer, your video is very helpfull, now my fan runs quiet and laptop doesnt overheat now

Just want to thank you for posting. This was extremely helpful.
You're very fast, efficient, and precise! An excellent job. You make a tough task look somewhat easy!
Great video - The putting back together part was very helpful - no left over screws!!!!!!
Tnank you. It really helped me a lot. I found huge chunks of dust, removed it and now the laptop is ice cold.
Thanks a lot dude! Your video was exactly what we needed to cure our PC nightmare!
Thank you my computer was full of dust. But now I can feel the airflow running. You saved me some money by showing this video. Very helpfull video.

I am waiting for my new fan to come in. So far, your video has been a life saver. Thank you.
It took me like 2 hours but l did it 🙏🏼 thx for the video. Really helpful
Thank you very much for your great video. I just needed to replace the motherboard battery. And for that, you have to disassemble the motherboard. So without you, I would be really in trouble. Thanks again.
Thank you so much by this video! I was having trouble opening up because of the 3 hidden screws behind the keyboard! Great work and thank you again!
This was easy. Thanks a lot. Didn't even replace any parts, but couldn't see my fan from how dusty it was... 😂 It was plugged but works fine now. Cheers!
I purchased a high quality fan to replace that junk they had in there..
Excellent video. I followed it step-by-step and i did it. My fan is clean and laptop doesnt overheat now.
There was so much dust in my fan 😂 great video! Now my laptop won’t act like it’s flying off!
😂😂😂
Thank you. I cleaned the fan and loved the work. All steps are well captured. Keep doing good work.
Very nice and precise video of how to open laptop and clean the fan

I don't know much about laptop's compared to desktops. I didn't know I could replace the processor. thank you. I've been wondering if I could.
I have an A4 can I upgrade in this case?

(1) Thank-you for this video! (2) HP - give your design team a collective head shake; this customer won't be returning.

So cleaning it with water is a bad idea?
You can clean the fan with distilled water, or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. I've cleaned a few really dirty and clogged fans under running sink water before - it worked great, but I put a very tiny dab of grease on the center pin to optimize performance and reduce noise.
Nah man, you should just pour some water inside your laptop and hope for the best

How does connector call from hdd (3:17)? And where can i buy it?
My fan doesn't spin manually as fast as his did... is that a concern?
Opening a laptop to fix the USB ports that are inactive and found that one of the R AM sticks is missing. Could this cause the issue?
I broke the power button cable, idk how its called. Where could i get a new one?
Tremendous video thank you! Was able to give my relatives an accurate repair estimate thanks to this.

are there any tips removing the keyboard i dont get it..
Notice he used a screwdriver to poke it out using the hole in the back..
Same problem, i can’t poke through anything. No progress there. Screw diver to big?
Never mind, found it, unscrew the WLAN card, there I a hole there where u can push through then continue like normal
Yes, I used that.. This was a pain... I did change the thermal paste while I was in there... The stuff they used was cheap, m-4 now..
