Hello Brian and Carrie: You went from the Air BnB disaster in Chania to a budget pleasing house sitting. Chania is busting at the seams and the island sank a foot from all the tourists visiting. I am off on my EU tour for the month of August. Violating a personal rule of not checking luggage, but I will be OK since I am still employed with the Navy. First stop is Budapest. Direct flight on Wizz Air. All of your advice validates the process I went through the last few weeks. I am taking a four city tour and I am excited to visit Tallinn, Helsinki, and Istanbul. I know being a RUclipsr is not easy, so I appreciate all the great advice and your efforts. 😎
Thank you so much!! We work hard to please everyone and need to be reminded that is impossible!! 😊 We appreciate your support. You have an amazing trip planned, safe travels!! Cheers!! 🍻
We just started our full time traveling in Belize and are headed to Mexico next. We were hit with new passport limitations than I found prior to coming here. You can only stay 30 days or you have to pay 200 per person per month for three month extensions. Things changed quickly. Also, the cost of going to Mexico from here went up. It’s teaching us to learn to go with the flow but be prepared if it’s not always what the internet says. Thanks for your super helpful videos and cheers to you both! Hopefully we cross paths someday.!We will keep subscribing! 😊
Those financial surprises are not fun. We haven't even looked into Belize yet, so that is good to know. Mexico isn't cheap that's for sure, but fortunately can still be done on a budget. With low food and entertainment costs that will help balance the accommodation costs. Safe travels and thanks for watching. Cheers!!
We wouldn't return to a few places simply because we've been there are so many places that we haven't been to yet. It is easier to return to a place that you know you love like Portugal or Türkiye.
Thank you. Ya know, I'm waiting for the video; "How to Pick the Perfect Travel Companion". :) I'm going to VN earlier than I thought. I may make the first Vietnam Open Pickleball Tournament in October near Ho Chi Mahn City. Ya.
Another informative video…I’m taking notes! 🎉🎉 My husband and I decided we would only fly business class for international travel-we aren’t traveling full time yet, but we’ll also definitely be on a budget. Most likely we would always fly out of Dallas but Houston is also doable. What seats do you try to get for your flights over from the US to wherever you are going? What is your favorite airline for your international flights? 🇨🇱✈️💕🇨🇱
Hi! We don't really have a specific area of the plane or airline that we fly. It really comes down to which flight is the best as far as connections, layovers and cost. We've been quite fortunate with the flights we've had so far and most have been just fine. Thanks so much for watching 😊
A good video on a tough topic, because it is so subjective and personal on what the traveller values. Still you cover well your considerations and the resources that you use to dig deeper into your choices. If money is no object, this is much easier and less important. The tighter the budget the more research that should be done into the cost of everyday life. I think a high inflation country like Argentina could be a real challenge and I would avoid for any prolonged stay. Even with your budget from what I have seen you have visited many excellent places and had tremendous experiences. Whatever you are doing, you are doing it right! Cheers! One day I hope to sit down and have that cervesa with the two of you!
I would like your opinion because I trust your judgment. Lots of articles are being featured by credible news sources that tourists are staying away from Albania. They make claim that the beaches are empty. The Albanian government is in a panic because they are losing revenue that they need. Any thoughts as to why travelers are staying away? I also read that Bulgaria is now the new hot spot.
For Albania to remain a hot spot they need to either remain ultra inexpensive or greatly improve their infrastructure. To move around the county with ease you need to rent a car. The beaches are beautiful but at what cost?
@@BrianandCarriemy friend Royce said he was having trouble with the site and couldn't reply. He appreciated your reply. I also agree with your opinions on Albania. My wife and I really enjoyed the beaches however the rest leaves a lot to be desired. Why so many of the other channels prop this country up is beyond me. Some even praise Albania as a great place to retire????
We have done the cruise around the horn and it was awesome! You definitely have to take all clothes though. If you start in Rio or Santiago the weather starts hot, gets cold and gets hot again. Stay safe in Rio! Have a blast! Anna
Another great video guys!! We are hoping to start in the next 4 yearsish. My wife loves our pets. (I do too, but not to the point where it would stop me from wanting to slow travel.) My task is to find a solution to that issue.
We had 2 cats. A friend took one. We got to see her occasionally . She was so over us. The other cat went to a family we found. We went over to their house and met the family. Never saw that cat again.
We will be heading to Mexico September 1st and will stay in central Mexico before heading to Marida in late October. The condo in Cozumel sounds like a great offer for a return trip in 2025! 😁Thank you so much!! ❤️

The biggest issue so far is arranging travel in Norway since it is a peak period and ferry and train connections can be difficult to line up. I'm still thinking about options in Austria and Czechia, possibly Brno is on my list. Your thoughts? I'll have to check out your video on Brno if there is one. Any comparisons with Bratislava? I'm actually spending a week in Salzburg, and a few days in the Alps, so that should be awesome! I'm also planning a trip with friends to Argentina in January! Patagonia is on the list.

Hi Brian & Carrie, We have enjoyed watching your informative videos and great tips. One I’d like to know about your aerial photography. Are you using a drone? If so, how did you with the regulations such as licensing in Europe. I believe it’s quite strict flying drones in places like Spain. Did you get a EASA license? Please share if you don’t mind.
Great question! With the regulations that you speak of and the fact that we are carry-on luggage only we do not use a drone. We have a paid subscription to Canva. On the topic of healthcare: We found basic medications great locally in Thailand and in Mexico, and vaccines more affordably in Thailand than the U.S. But my husband got Covid in Mexico, and we had travel insurance, but Paxlovid was not available at all, in private clinics, public sources, anything. (The government's very limited supply is triaged at its public hospitals, which is appropriate.) He was in his upper 50s without major risk factors, so symptoms lingered a while but eventually went away and it wasn't the end of the world for him--but if he'd been at much higher risk and had wanted the option of Paxlovid, it would've been wise to have checked with his doctor in advance if he could bring it with him, the same way our doctor prescribed Cipro for us to bring with us before travel in rural Thailand. (But now Paxlovid is such an expensive medicine that I don't know if doctors can do this...though my thinking is that the chances are good someone in the family will get Covid before the medicine expires, so it wouldn't go to waste, but that's also not how prescriptions work.)

Your recommendations regarding house sitting is interesting so we looked into it and found that it is primarily a pet sitting situation. Don’t get me wrong I love animals and would not mind looking after some but worry it would tie you down too much. My own pets tie me down and I would think other peoples pets would do the same, that is while house sitting you are pretty well unable to do a lot of things that take you away from the house. How do you deal with this and are there house sits that allow you to do some roaming around
That is a concern for many. For us we just make sure to verify how long the pets can be alone as well as what is the care required. Then we evaluate if that fits with the time we will need in a place to do what we would want to do. It wouldn't work in all areas, but many it does.

Do aparthotels have a similar impact on local housing stock as Airbnbs do? I guess hotels could also take over, I just wonder if aparthotels are a more direct threat. They do not. They are designed just like a hotel with a kitchenet and separate bedroom. They are not used for local housing; they would be too expensive.
