Prototyping Futures - Scott Mitchell

Scott Mitchell is a Melbourne based artist and academic. His teaching explores interaction design, networked objects and data rich environments, his research interests include inter-disciplinary art, critical/radical design, interaction, and electronic design. He is interested in the social structures that form around objects and acts of making. Employing divergent consumer practices such as hacking and modding that reveal objects as sites of social and public action. Many of his projects build upon existing DIY practices and feed back into amateur communities through the sharing of construction methods and build narratives. These projects trace a meeting of art, science, and DIY production within the field of art and design.
