It's really so painful and recovering process is really hard. I said that because i have same injury about 5 years ago and i still didn't fully recovered from that. People who trowing hate on injuries is really unhuman act. Some professionals athletes retire from their careers because of this injury. It's easier for people to hate others without knowing anything about that. I still feel pain and scared to do some basic stuff like running or dancing. I really hope Scoups will recover from this, as a fan who actually knows how much pain is this i feel extremely sad when i read bad comments.

Shinhwa member Hyesung had suffered ACL rupture in 2001, when he underwent medical examinations in 2008 for military, he was also classified Grade 5 and exempted. During the 7yrs he was able to perform, but never the same as before. And as per SK military rules, if you're in grade 5, you can't be accepted to do mandatory service even if you do recover since you're prone to injury and arthritis. There are other grades that can get re-examined in the future, but that has never been the case with ACL injuries. So people throwing hate is uncalled for and shows how unemphathetic they are, attacking a person who might never be able to function as he did before.
To analyse more for those people 1. Our Suga went through an accident in past, he injured his shoulder. He didn't get surgery for many years. At last he got surgery and took treatment for months. Yet he still got grade 4 by SK military and doctors. Scoups got his knee injured and got the surgery without any delay for years. He went through treatment for some months and he got grade 5. Imagine if a person who went through a injury pain for years but still got grade 4 but a person who got treated immediately and got grade 5, it's coz the injury is serious.... Are people still out of mind... It explains a lot about the seriousness of injury ACL could end a sports man career If a football player got ACL it's over for him/her The people with ACL surgery might walk and dance a bit but not some serious steps If they restrain then there could be possibility they can't walk properly for the remaining life 2. It's really annoying how THAT fandom is dragging him for an injury he did not even want to have. S.Coups' injury happened half a year ago and he's still doing rehab to be able to return to normal daily life activities so it's really just common sense that he wouldn't be able to accomplish basic military training without his injury relapsing. It's been a really long time because the injury really was that severe. It's been severe enough that he can't even participate in a lot of promotional work and even episodes of GoSe. I knew he would face resentment from other fans when this news came out, and I knew it would be from ARMYs because Suga also had surgery and still went. But Suga's surgery was in his shoulder, an entirely different location. And I have also read that ACL surgery is one of the most painful and difficult surgeries to recover from. Like the injury itself is one of the worst injuries one can suffer. As an ArmyCarat, this entire thing pains me. Another thing people who don’t understand the exemption are not taking into consideration is the risk mitigation. Not for the idol but for the military. Acls are notorious for re-injury. Say you have someone who went through acl surgery working an office job, low impact. But one day he re-injures himself doing something totally mundane, going up a step at just the wrong angle. Now you have to send him back off to medical, potentially becoming responsible for that injury, you have to fill the role he’s now vacated, etc. it’s just a pain when literally anyone else can do that same job. Well then why can he continue at an idol? Because the company assumes the risk instead. And they stand to benefit from the unique labor of the idol. The idol isn’t just instantly replaceable by anyone else. If he injures himself again, well, you’ve gotten some work out of him that no one else could have done. For the company, it’s worth the potential trade off to have him work and get injured. For the military, it’s just a hassle.
This is both good and concerning at the same time. Good cause Scoups would get the rest he needs and concerning cause being considered as Grade 5 and being excempted just means the injury is that bad.. I honestly dont get why he’s getting so much hate for it? I guess some people just don’t realize how bad his injury is? Having worked at professional football club before, I’ve seen players suffer from this kind of injuries (sometimes even less than that) and they’ve never been able to be themselves ever again even after the full recovery. Some even quit Dancing on stage and serving are VERY different things ACL surgery is no joke I’ve had a cast for 6 weeks and got madly frustrated by the 3rd week, can’t imagine how much SCoups’s suffered all these months Hope he’s not reading all of this bs, poor man really deserves some mental rest
it really is so painful and i feel so bad for him😭 i have a partial tear in in my knee due to a sports injury and because it’s not fully torn and is considered a minor tear, it’s not really necessary to surgically repair it, so i’m just stuck with the pain of an unsupported knee joint🙃. but even when they do fix it, my friend is in vet school and fully tore her cruciate from constantly bending down to see animals and she was in so much pain and couldn’t use her leg at all for weeks and had to do physical therapy for months. i think it’s more than fair for coups to not do his service. 😂

I saw far too many people disparaging S.Coups and claiming that Pledis must have bought off the military for an exemption just because they feel Yoongi should have been exempted for his shoulder injury. As a person who had several knee injuries, instable patella and an inner ligement torn after doing a dance class I'm surely can understand what it takes to go through rehabilitation and how much pain is involved. Since I'm not a professional dancer surgery wasn't performed. It took me 9 months of rehabilitation training to be able to jog lightly. For a career performer an injury like that is a career defining moment. So I ask the people (haters) to kindly stfu.

No, he has a full exemption. Sth Korean law is that if you have ever had an ACL injury or surgery you don’t serve. It’s because you cant do the military basic training that everyone does because there is too much risk of re-injury. If you can physically do basic training but you have a health problem that makes active service a problem you get a desk job - that’s what happened for Baekhyun from EXO and Suga from BTS.
@@Anayaarin Were not denying BTS's work for Korea. Yes, BTS did a lot of things for Korea and helped Korea in many ways. However, military exemption doesn't work that way. Every men has to go to military for 2 years between the age of 18 and 35. No exceptions for the work you did for your country or anything like that. The only thing that can get you an exemption is if you're unable to go to the military because of medical reasons. And they have grading for that, a grade in between 1 and 7 will be attributed to you, and for grades between 1 and 4 you go, and for 5 to 7 you don't. Which means that Suga and Jimin's issues were graded under 5 while S.Coups was at 5. That's the only reasoning and what BTS did for the country doesn't matter here. I mean its literally not up to him, whether or not he's going serve is entirely up to the professionals doing the examination. An ACL injury can take years to heal, and may never completely recover. While I'm not completely sure there is a source that says that having ever torn your acl will automatically exclude you from conscription.

(He broke his leg in like 3 parts and required 7 rods in his leg btw because of car crash back in 2006) Another example is Leeteuk, who suffered from severed depression due to his recent family murder-suicide case. He also finished his military despite being told to discharge. (He repeatedly throws up and passed out btw)

If the government calls for him, I believe he will still go if the military allows him. But that is not his decision to made. Coups once said that he wants to serve in the marine corps. He is a man of his word and not the type to runaway from his duty (as far as I know).

the difference with his case to other idols is that the other idols who went through social service had more than a year or two to heal from their injuries (some may not have recent injuries, but most likely have very poor physical and mental health conditions) while s.coups' is still doing rehab so military training is a huga no no.

While for Scoups, he had the ligament tear few months ago only, which adds up for the time. Well yes! Hatsoff to them especially Yoongi. It isn't about a person's willingness. Since 2018, in Korea anyone with Acl surgery gets exempted from military enlistment regardless of the outcome of the surgery because he is unfit and unable to handle military trainings and all is is considered under grade 5, but during war breakouts he must serve for the country... So it's not about going to military despite having injuries and health issues. Not corruption but just a law.!
Him being exempted isn't even his own choice he had to go through a physical examination to see if he could go through with the training. Besides that an acl surgery is a very big deal you knee can never fully heal you will still have pains. Any South Korean who has an acl or an injury like that is exempted from military service it is not just scoups getting special treatment. Besides that he got hurt literally a few month ago he is still using crutches and was on a wheel chair some time ago

Educate yourself. SK military does not allow ACL injured people to enlist. It's a different area. There are former idols like Shinhwa Hyesung who had the same injury and was in the same grade. And he was examined 7yrs after the injury. He was able to perform on stage but never as he did before.
his acl was torn not his vocal cords. he can sing and rap and he can move. and thats the purpose of all physical therapy and training. basketball players who have acl injury undergo physical therapy and rehabilitation so they can slowly function and return to their usual activities. I mean thats the goal. Some of them returned to playing ball again but its not the same, they have limited range of motion. Same with Scoups he can somehow return to dancing but on a limited basis he can NEVER get back to dancing they way he used to and trained for because alc injury will be with him forever and there is no such thing as "fully healed". How devastating that must be for an idol who had been training and dancing since he was 13. Now yes he still can perform, military and dancing (again limited movements only) are TWO DIFFERENT things. He has clearance from his doctors that he can perform but he has to rest if he's in pain when performing , but in military fitness exam there is no pause, he cant say that he's in pain and stop the duty anytime. Even " desk job" requires military fitness examination which includes pull ups, push ups, running, jumping etc. which scoups failed. how can he even do social work if he cant even pass the basic examination required for ANY kind of military service. Suga who was injured and had surgeries took 2 years and he was still graded as grade 4 by the military. It means he is not fully physical fit to enlist as an active duty sokdier due to his injury but he will serve in the office for social work. Scoups was grade 5 - full exemption from military due to his injury.

It's really so painful and recovering process is really hard. I said that because i have same injury about 5 years ago and i still didn't fully recovered from that. People who trowing hate on injuries is really unhuman act. Some professionals athletes retire from their careers because of this injury. It's easier for people to hate others without knowing anything about that. I still feel pain and scared to do some basic stuff like running or dancing. I really hope Scoups will recover from this, as a fan who actually knows how much pain is this i feel extremely sad when i read bad comments.

Shinhwa member Hyesung had suffered ACL rupture in 2001, when he underwent medical examinations in 2008 for military, he was also classified Grade 5 and exempted. During the 7yrs he was able to perform, but never the same as before. And as per SK military rules, if you're in grade 5, you can't be accepted to do mandatory service even if you do recover since you're prone to injury and arthritis. There are other grades that can get re-examined in the future, but that has never been the case with ACL injuries. So people throwing hate is uncalled for and shows how unemphathetic they are, attacking a person who might never be able to function as he did before.
To analyse more for those people
1. Our Suga went through an accident in past, he injured his shoulder. He didn't get surgery for many years. At last he got surgery and took treatment for months. Yet he still got grade 4 by SK military and doctors.
Scoups got his knee injured and got the surgery without any delay for years. He went through treatment for some months and he got grade 5.
Imagine if a person who went through a injury pain for years but still got grade 4 but a person who got treated immediately and got grade 5, it's coz the injury is serious....

It's been a really long time because the injury really was that severe. It's been severe enough that he can't even participate in a lot of promotional work and even episodes of GoSe. It's a really big deal. Army were all in support when Suga was downgraded to alternative service, how dare they be among some of the loudest voices I've seen in protest of Coups's exemption? They should understand the level of severity of the injury, how worried the fans are, and how grateful we feel he won't be forced to put stress on his injury! Are they just jealous because Cheollie was fully exempted? Suga was still active up until his service began, Coups has been totally out of commission! As for any normie naysayers, they should understand the physicality and the taxing demands of being a full time idol. Even idol dancers have better conditions. Seventeen works incredibly hard and have earned respect for their vocal and dancing (and comedy) skills--imagine having 13 members and no weak spot/the HIGHEST synchronization rate in kpop. I knew he would face resentment from other fans when this news came out, and I knew it would be from ARMYs because Suga also had surgery and still went. But Suga's surgery was in his shoulder, an entirely different location. And I have also read that ACL surgery is one of the most painful and difficult surgeries to recover from. Like the injury itself is one of the worst injuries one can suffer.
As an ArmyCarat, this entire thing pains me. It pained me when Suga had the surgery, when he went to do his service, it pained me when this news came out because being unable to do even a desk job means that his condition is indeed very severe, and it pains me that the fans are fighting over this.

Another thing people who don’t understand the exemption are not taking into consideration is the risk mitigation. Not for the idol but for the military.
Acls are notorious for re-injury. Say you have someone who went through acl surgery working an office job, low impact. But one day he re-injures himself doing something totally mundane, going up a step at just the wrong angle. Now you have to send him back off to medical, potentially becoming responsible for that injury, you have to fill the role he’s now vacated, etc. it’s just a pain when literally anyone else can do that same job.
Well then why can he continue at an idol? Because the company assumes the risk instead. And they stand to benefit from the unique labor of the idol. The idol isn’t just instantly replaceable by anyone else. If he injures himself again, well, you’ve gotten some work out of him that no one else could have done.
For the company, it’s worth the potential trade off to have him work and get injured. For the military, it’s just a hassle.
This is both good and concerning at the same time. Good cause Scoups would get the rest he needs and concerning cause being considered as Grade 5 and being excempted just means the injury is that bad.. I can't imagine how bad Scoups is feeling, especially when his one of the most determined members who strives for success. I hope his not too hard on himself

it really is so painful and i feel so bad for him😭 i have a partial tear in in my knee due to a sports injury and because it’s not fully torn and is considered a minor tear, it’s not really necessary to surgically repair it, so i’m just stuck with the pain of an unsupported knee joint🙃. but even when they do fix it, my friend is in vet school and fully tore her cruciate from constantly bending down to see animals and she was in so much pain and couldn’t use her leg at all for weeks and had to do physical therapy for months. i think it’s more than fair for coups to not do his service. 😂

I saw far too many people disparaging S.Coups and claiming that Pledis must have bought off the military for an exemption just because they feel Yoongi should have been exempted for his shoulder injury. People need to understand that the military does very thorough health screenings for all incoming draftees. Medical professionals make these decisions. ACL injuries, even if repaired, are an automatic exemption due to risk of re-injury. They won't even send people with that injury through basic training. These decisions are out of our hands. As a person who had several knee injuries, instable patella and an inner ligement torn after doing a dance class I'm surely can understand what it takes to go through rehabilitation and how much pain is involved. Since I'm not a professional dancer surgery wasn't performed. It took me 9 months of rehabilitation training to be able to jog lightly. For a career performer an injury like that is a career defining moment. So I ask the people (haters) to kindly stfu.

No, he has a full exemption. Sth Korean law is that if you have ever had an ACL injury or surgery you don’t serve. It’s because you cant do the military basic training that everyone does because there is too much risk of re-injury. If you can physically do basic training but you have a health problem that makes active service a problem you get a desk job - that’s what happened for Baekhyun from EXO and Suga from BTS.

@@Anayaarin Were not denying BTS's work for Korea. Yes, BTS did a lot of things for Korea and helped Korea in many ways. However, military exemption doesn't work that way. Every men has to go to military for 2 years between the age of 18 and 35. No exceptions for the work you did for your country or anything like that. The only thing that can get you an exemption is if you're unable to go to the military because of medical reasons. And they have grading for that, a grade in between 1 and 7 will be attributed to you, and for grades between 1 and 4 you go, and for 5 to 7 you don't. Which means that Suga and Jimin's issues were graded under 5 while S.Coups was at 5. That's the only reasoning and what BTS did for the country doesn't matter here. So ARMY please stop hating on S.Coups for litterally being injured, cause I can promise he'd much rather go to the military for 2 years than to never be able to dance like he used to because of an injury that must hurt like hell and that will never disappear completely. Please have some compassion...

I mean its literally not up to him, whether or not he's going serve is entirely up to the professionals doing the examination. An ACL injury can take years to heal, and may never completely recover. While I'm not completely sure there is a source that says that having ever torn your acl will automatically exclude you from conscription.

Take Heechul for example. He was exempted but he was reminded by Seungjun's case so Heechul went enlist even though he suffered from serious injury that made him can't dance anymore. (He broke his leg in like 3 parts and required 7 rods in his leg btw because of car crash back in 2006)
Another example is Leeteuk, who suffered from severed depression due to his recent family murder-suicide case. He also finished his military despite being told to discharge. (He repeatedly throws up and passed out btw)

If the government calls for him, I believe he will still go if the military allows him. But that is not his decision to made. Coups once said that he wants to serve in the marine corps. He is a man of his word and not the type to runaway from his duty (as far as I know).

the difference with his case to other idols is that the other idols who went through social service had more than a year or two to heal from their injuries (some may not have recent injuries, but most likely have very poor physical and mental health conditions) while s.coups' is still doing rehab so military training is a huga no no.

Since 2018, in Korea anyone with Acl surgery gets exempted from military enlistment regardless of the outcome of the surgery because he is unfit and unable to handle military trainings and all is is considered under grade 5, but during war breakouts he must serve for the country... So it's not about going to military despite having injuries and health issues. Not corruption but just a law.!

Educate yourself. SK military does not allow ACL injured people to enlist. It's a different area. There are former idols like Shinhwa Hyesung who had the same injury and was in the same grade. And he was examined 7yrs after the injury. He was able to perform on stage but never as he did before.
his acl was torn not his vocal cords. he can sing and rap and he can move. and thats the purpose of all physical therapy and training. basketball players who have acl injury undergo physical therapy and rehabilitation so they can slowly function and return to their usual activities. I mean thats the goal. Some of them returned to playing ball again but its not the same, they have limited range of motion. Same with Scoups he can somehow return to dancing but on a limited basis he can NEVER get back to dancing they way he used to and trained for because alc injury will be with him forever and there is no such thing as "fully healed". How devastating that must be for an idol who had been training and dancing since he was 13.
Now yes he still can perform, military and dancing (again limited movements only) are TWO DIFFERENT things. He has clearance from his doctors that he can perform but he has to rest if he's in pain when performing , but in military fitness exam there is no pause, he cant say that he's in pain and stop the duty anytime. Even " desk job" requires military fitness examination which includes pull ups, push ups, running, jumping etc. which scoups failed. how can he even do social work if he cant even pass the basic examination required for ANY kind of military service.
Suga who was injured and had surgeries took 2 years and he was still graded as grade 4 by the military. It means he is not fully physical fit to enlist as an active duty sokdier due to his injury but he will serve in the office for social work. Scoups was grade 5 - full exemption from military due to his injury.
